The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- O’Malley v Vera on NOW

So aldo will lose his belt because of his injury? When he returns from injury will he get his belt back or does he have to fight the winner of Conor and Mendes?

Nah. He comes back and fights the winner of the Mendes/McGregor fight.

UFC NOT trying to miss out on that payday

Doesn't matter if Conor wins or loses, he's gonna get grief

For the interim title doe :smh:

For a dude Aldo just beat and another dude that only got a shot because they ran outta match ups.

Aldo will be back in what October?

They want a belt around Coner's waste so bad, even if it is a paper title :rolleyes

Thank god he pulled out. Would've meant absolutely zero if Conor beat Aldo with a bad rib. Mendes vs MgGregor is still a great fight, and either Conor gets the **** kicked out of him and possibly his head knocked off his shoulders, OR he beats Mendes and proves himself as a true top contender for Aldo's belt. Sounds like a win-win to me

Yeah Aldo has pulled out of a few title dates. When Cain pulls out of a fight, he's out for a year or longer not just a few months. And Weidman has pulled out of all his title defenses except for the Silva rematch. Machida fight was rescheduled for knee surgery and the Belfort fight was rescheduled cause he broke his hand and then rescheduled again cause of a rib injury.

But the whole Aldo situation is kinda sketchy to me. UFC and their doctor said it was just a bruise. Aldo's head coach said the Brazilian doctor said it was broken. Then yesterday or early today, ESPN had an article that said in it, the NSAC was requesting to see Aldo's medical documents, now Aldo is out of the fight.

Cain's missed one title fight (defended title 4x)

Weidman's missed two title fights (defended title 3x)

Aldo's missed five title fights (defended title 7x)

I hope the real records come out either way

Weidman missed three title fights. After Weidman v Machida was made he pulled out cause he got surgery I think on both knees. Then with Belfort he pulled out once cause he broke his hand. Then it was rescheduled but he pulled out again cause of a rib injury.

Cain doesn't really pull out of fights, he just gets hurt during fights or right after fights and need surgery which leads to long lay-offs.

I wouldn't be shocked if in the future, Aldo or his head coach come out and say they didn't drop out of the fight but they were pulled from it. Starting a back and forth between them and Dana.

Bummed that the fight got scrapped and even more bummed frankie got passed over.

Whoever wins the interim will fight aldo and that's at least a year before frankie gets a crack at the title.

The thing is, Frankie is clearly the #1 contender now. Winner of Mendes/MgGregor fights Aldo, Frankie gets that winner. As long as he wins whatever stay busy fight he gets, which is almost automatic because the 145 division drops off pretty steep after aldo, mendes and mcgregor. Oh, and he'll also get a full camp, unlike Chad. Frankie will be alright.

Nobody gonna give Conor any credit if he beats Mendes on two weeks notice. Be real

I'd rather see him get stomped, but I'll give him a little credit if it's a hard fought win.

Aldo doesn't want to wear that crappy reebok uniform. In end smart move by Aldo, he's going to milk this thing a little bit longer and make more money. I can see him destroying Connor and walking out on the ufc

Chad has to fight smart.

He has to wrestle him because despite his power i don't like his chances on the feet.

That being said if he one shot flatines him that would be awesome

Is Rory/Robbie still the Co-main?? :smh:

He can let his hands go after establishing the takedown. Fake takedowns, level changes, keep Connor guessing. Chad also has some underrated leg kicks, he nailed aldo with a few but Damm if they weren't powerful

Ridic bruh :smh: Dana making it way too obvious smh

Honestly I'd give him props. Chad is the real deal..it's a 2 week notice but Chad seems like the type of dude who trains year around and was ready for this, ufc prob contacted him asap when the news first broke with Aldo..it's not like Conor is gonna be more ready he's been training for Aldo not a wrestler like Chad.

If you're the most likely replacement in the biggest fight of the year, 100% you're staying in shape on the run up.
