Sherdog is suggesting Barboza face the winner of the Cerrone/Martins bout on January 25

Barboza v Cerrone would be :eek

I'd still take Cowboy slightly for his experience despite Barboza on the rise.

As much as I like barboza especially his striking, it looks like he has a weak chin. And he needs to improve his boxing, offense and defense. But a fight with cerrone will really be exciting.

I don't know about him being glass. Varner and Castillo dropped him with serious bombs. Granted his defense could use some work though.

He's clearly super dangerous though. I don't think anybody will be keen to fight him knowing what state their legs are likely to be in afterwards.

I also think he could legit kill somebody in the octagon. The heat he was putting on them wheel kicks had me nervous mean.gif
post #156 of 34247
For real, Barboza's striking is lethal. Those leg kicks land like lead pipes... :smh

I don't really get the Cerrone/Martins matchup, but assuming Cowboy wins a fight with Edson would be sick. Especially if they can throw it on a FOX card.

Dude has disappointed me these last couple of years. When he went on that winning streak I thought he was definitely going to get that belt. He has the strength, athleticism, speed, knockout power but loses focus in there.

Just goes to show how loaded 155 has been and still is. It's absurd. Look at guys like Jim miller who never got a shot. Siver, guida, oliveria, Frankie , etc etc all dropped to 145 cuz it's too stacked at 155
post #160 of 34247
Melvin plays the hammer well but can't hold up when it's time to be the nail.

I would love to see him fight Diego. Melvin is one of few at 155 who could potentially put him out but chances are he gets cracked and finished in an exchange.
Don't think Melvin's gym hopping has helped his cause much either...

Melvin is the most frustrating fighter in MMA to watch or support. I wish his career took a different path.

So true

When he got choked by miller and lauzon and then put to sleep by cowboy I lost all faith

But I can't stop myself from feeling optimistic after his last few performances

He's like the Rudy Gay of Mma.... All the tools and flash...but no substance

That's pretty deep waters for t wood

Curious to see if he can compete.... Not sure his standup has improved to that level
post #170 of 34247
Woodley better K.O him first round of he's getting out worked and probably finished.

@ChampCruThik I heard Phil Davis wants Shogun next laugh.gif

Looks like our theories will be put to the test brah

I would be down for any combo of Davis v Bader v Shogun

Maybe Phil davis thinks if he fought a lower ranked opponent, win or lose his rank won't be affected. In other words he's just picking shogun because he is the easiest out of the remaining ranked lhw, and he's just waiting till he gets his shot at the belt. We'll see what happens. I hope the shogun of the past will make a comeback.

Meanwhile, this thread sure is slow moving. I can use my fingers to count the regulars who post in here. Let's see if it remains the same the week before and after ufc 168.

If he doesn't showboat like he usually does, he's not going to lose. I want him to go in there and make a statement by finishing the fight in the first few minutes. Throw a frontkick, spinning elbow or flying knee and get that ko.

Rusty: Gentleman's bet.

Like the confidence from Davis, but hope he's not awaking a sleeping beast.

Three straight wins. Another over Shogun deems a title shot with heavy competition.

Team NBK. But I like T-Wood to a lesser extent. Condit decision or late finish. Better cardio, championship experience, well-rounded minus wrestling.

If anderson can do what cain did to jds in their last fight, that can be a big statement. Just no bs like last time, please.
i think weidman has a legitimate chance at beating silva. weidman is just a bad match up for him.
pulling for the goat tho, second round tko.

definitely...weidman's confidence has to be on a million. other than the 1st Sonnen fight everyone else has come in timid and then gets overwhelmed by Anderson's antics. Weidman was mad poised and kept engaging, i think he has a shot at winning
