The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- O’Malley v Vera on NOW

Nobody wants to see that trash. If DC beats Hendo it won't impress anyone

There's really no one left for DC to fight. He can either sit and wait for a title shot after Gus. He could wait for the winner of Phil/Anthony Johnson or for Rashad to get back. Or he could fight someone along the line of Lil Nog, Hendo, or Feijao and fans aren't really going to be excited about those fights. A great option would be for him to fight Gus in July with the winner getting a title shot. But UFC doesn't wanna lose a contender.

There's Feijao, Hendo or Bader. Rather have him fight Feijao or Bader. TBH none of those wins would impress anyone though.

I really don't think beating Hendo at this point, especially off TRT does much to improve your stock. We will see how he looks off the TRT soon enough.

The advantage Hendo has over the other TRT users is that he fought recently without using it. He didn't use it for the Rashad fight and it looked like he gassed easily.

His age though will even that advantage out. He just hasn't looked that great, always just hoping to land that bomb. Which to his credit, is still a fight-ender.

No matter who DC fights it won't improve his stock, which in my view is a bit unfair, but it is what it is.

Was watching the Best of Pride on msg+ last night. They had the 2nd fight between Hendo and Big Nog, awesome fight. So many fights in Pride that i've never watched, need to go on a binge watch.

Julianna Pena is finally talking about her injury she suffered in training. From what she said it was an accident and not some brutal attack by a jealous teammate like Dana has been saying.

Meh, regardless of what the true story is, who cares. Dana is Dana, that's not going to change. It took this long for her to address the situation? Weird on her part, but whatever. Who really cares

Phil Davis can't be pleased. Oh well, don't care to see him get a title shot anyway.

Dana will put Davis in the title fight if he knocks out Rumble and Hendo/DC is a dud

I hate that DC fight for Hendo, just isn't going to end well for the old man.

Interesting to see that Jones was randomly tested by the Baltimore Commission today. I'm glad that kind of stuff is becoming the norm.

Looks like there's a few other fights in the making:

Feijao v Bader

Cole M I L L E R  v Connor Mcgregor (If they can both get healthy by the UFC card in Ireland)

Woodley v Rory (winner gets Hendricks)

DC and Hendo both verbally agree to fight each other. The winner "guaranteed" a title shot after Gus.

Winner will probably get the title shot unless Glover beats JJ.

Pretty sure JJ will just say he doesn't want to fight Gus again like he did last time,

Plus, if DC wins, I think there's a little history there, so I can definitely see Gus getting bypassed again.

Idk if its becoming the norm because Jones said it was his team that requested the testing. I understand that UFC is paying for it, but don't get why the commission had to get UFC's approval to do it.

One for the GSP nuthuggers like myself...

Greg Jackson said in a recent interview that GSP called him right after Condit blew his ACL and offered to help him with the rehab as he had experience of going through it himself.

:pimp:

Same reason they didn't sign Askren.

Can't afford to be boring even if you're really good.

Right now there's no place in UFC for fighters like Shields. They want brawlers. Look at some of the more high profiled releases. Shields, Okami, and Fitch. All were considered boring. For all of his talking Phil Davis and a few others should be wary and hope they don't lose consecutive fights cause they could be gone too. But fighters like Diego will always get more chances cause of their style.

UFC trying to move JDS/Stipe from ufc 173 to main event on fight night in Brazil on 5/31 and move Sonnen/Silva to 175 to be the co-main event.

Guessing another fight is gonna be added to 173 since its the Memorial weekend ppv. Maybe Aldo v Mendes.

UFC wants Brawlers? They want brawlers, sure, but they also want guys who have appeal when they perform. Shields and Fitch had almost zero appeal. Okami on the other hand deserves to be in the UFC still. I think you're oversimplifying things. Also, until the rules change, we will always see this stalling/boring type of wrestling. That type of fighting is a sport killer in my opinion. Guys like Diego should always have a chance because guys like that want to put on a show and not just point fight. That makes sense right.

UFC doesn't care as long as you're winning or you're putting on shows. GSP, Edgar, Bendo, Cruz, etc. etc. etc. are all pushed and backed big time by the UFC. They are hardly brawlers. So please stop with that B.S.

The UFC is moving way too much around in my opinion. At times it's necessary but sheesh.

How can you say UFC doesn't care as long as you're winning? Shields was winning. Before his loss to Lombard, he defeated Woodley and Maia. Okami won 3 fights in a row before losing to Jacare. And Dana has gone on record stating that he doesn't like Bendo's style. He thinks he's a grinder and is boring. Brawlers may not be the right word, but they want guys that are gonna go out there and swing for the fences. Even before Machida's knockout of Munoz, Dana wasn't a fan of his because he wasn't aggressive enough for him and he wasn't a fan of his technical and counter fighting.

UFC wants guys that are out there trying to kill themselves. Chuck Liddell, Chris Leben, Pat Berry, Diego Sanchez etc... Is it right, absolutely not. These guys aren't going to be in good mental shape as they age, at all.
At the end of the day, it's a business. I actually prefer Bellator because the guys seem so hungry.
