The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

I haven't considered him an elite hw. People hyped him up for years with only a few wins against good heavyweights. The muscles had people mirin'.

Apparently Rumble stated in a recent interview that he'd fight Overeem at any weight :nerd:

And i'm pretty sure UFC brass doesn't want Rory any where near the strap.

He beats Maia and Woodley and now he has to fight a very dangerous but relative unknown in Saffiedine?? Bad fight to take and bad match up for Rory imo.

I think the UFC is handling the Rory situation as best as they can. i view Rory vs Saffiedine much like like Machida vs Mousassi. Mousassi was not popular to the casual fan but he was a dangerous opponent. After Machida beat him, he got his title shot. I think if Rory beats Saffiedine, he will be next in line for a title. Rory has to have 1 more fight. It's too long of a layoff to sit on the sidelines and wait for the winner of Hendricks/Lawler. And who knows if there will be a controversial decision which warrants another rematch, or if one of them gets injured and needs surgery after the fight. Saffiedine is the best opponent for Rory b/c it potentially sets up Rory as the next in line, and then Lombard afterward.

And i guess Overeeem really rubbed the Blackzillians the wrong way if Humble Rumble Johnson wants to fight him.

What the hell is going on at Blackzillians? Big Foot left supposedly because of Overeem. Mike Van Arsdale left or got fired as their coach depending on who you ask. Overeem had his drama and left or was kicked out. Guillard also left or was kicked out.

man you got me missing the old days of teams vs teams. chute boxe, lions den, brazilian top team, team quest, etc.

gyms/teams are business oriented now and less family oriented like the old days.

the GOAT team. straight up killers

Hammer House!

I forgot what fight it was. May have been more than one. But Matt Hughes was walking to ring with his belt and had Rich Franklin and Tim Sylvia behind him with their belts and that **** looked ill as ****.

MFS was no joke at that time.

Funny because I was wondering what ever happened to the Hit Squad gym that Lawler and Hughes supposedly started at one point.

Looking all over for that shirt. Where did you cop?

There's a bunch of coupon codes online too.

Oh yeah. The Chute vs Hammer House brawl at Pride.

That was nice.

Whatever happened to the lightweight fighter from chute box that Gomi used as a punching bag? I think his name was luis acevedo. I think in one of their fights Gomi knocked him out and kept pinching him or maybe that was against someone else.

Probably retired. Dude always got his *** kicked

I could always rely on him for great fights though, the fight against Joachim Hansen at Bushido 10 was :pimp:

I think he's retired by now. I think he had a few fights in Bellator but haven't heard anything about him in a while. He's probably in Brazil, Japan, or somewhere here in America teaching classes and living off his moniker of the 1st guy to beat Anderson Silva.

I miss the lightweight fighters from Pride. It'd be so damn awesome if the ufc lightweights could have a tournament now.

The athletic commissions would never sanction a pride style 1 day tournament.

 those grand prix were EPIC.

MMA highlight of the month for me will be Bendo vs. RDA. Even over the Dillashaw/Barao rematch. Picking Renan to win, BTW.

Ha, tournaments are def a thing of the past. No major commission would let that happen today as dope as it would be...

Don't know anything about Rumble or Bones Knows shirts, but I might need to cop a 'Break Bones' T for 178 :pimp:

I wish someone rich would've bought Pride instead of zuffa. You can have whatever kind of events you want in Japan. ufc should've at least brought in the Pride female announcer and some cool ring entrances but they'd rather have boring production.
