The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

Conor fought a guy his own size that had the chin to eat his best punches and enough power to hurt him, end of story. They both probably walk around at 170, Conor just kills himself to make 145 while Nate fights at a more natural weight of 155.

Conor was very humble in defeat which was cool, but continuously calling Nate the "heavier man" made him look weak. He's not heavier, he's just not obviously smaller than Conor like all the guys he's been fighting at 145 either.

If anything, Aldo Mendes Siver Holloway and them dudes could have legitimately made that excuse about fighting Conor, but they never did. He's been an oversized featherweight this entire time.

But I guess Conor and Dana gotta spin to protect the brand so we'll probably be hearing the weight excuse a lot for the time being.

Great night of fights though and well deserved wins for Miesha and Nate.

new king calling the shots now

Also have to say the world is a better place today like it was when honda fat face got put to sleep. :smoking

If fat face wants next, I hope Miesha actually fights smart and doesn't clinch. Just use that fat face as a punching bag and send her dusty, yeast infection, sweaty self to retirement then she can have that scumbags anti-christ kids.

Dudes in here acting like Nate is the second coming of GSP or Spider..He put in work last night and I'm glad he finally got his big pay day..But don't start acting like dude is all of sudden in the P4P discussion..

:frown: @ Holly losing. I'm happy for Miesha but let's be real, Honda has it easy now. The last thing I ever want to see is Honda touching a belt again.

I'm also happy and sad that Conor lost. I wanted to see him fight Robbie and just get KO'd from one touch from him.

I think the true winner tonight was Herb Dean.

He saved Conor's bum ash

Holly should go against Ronda for the no 1 contender spot.

They both have rightful claims to it. Whoever wins gets the next title shot.

But UFC/Dana White rules dictate Ronda will come back and get the title shot immediately

My cousin and I are arguing and he keeps insisting that Ronda isn't elite on the ground and that any black belt BJJ fighter would out grapple her.

Please, give me talking points to beat him down with.

I'm also familiar with this argument from way back when:

After the takedown, he quickly extends his left leg to prevent Conor from passing. This was pretty much the beginning of the end of the ground exchange. He quickly sweeps Conor, but before he gets the mount, he secures Conor's right arm. Once the arm is secured, Conor is unable to roll, Nate has an arm bar set up, AND Conor can't defend the mount. It was pretty much a wrap from there.

No one is saying that at all

The entire point is that the Diaz brothers are constantly overlooked as being great fighters. Their personalities, trash talking, and IDGAF attitude overshadows that

She's not elite on the ground by any means. But that's not to see she's not good.

And of course any black belt BJJ practioner would out grapple her. That's because she's not a black belt in BJJ

But she does have a long history of training with the Diaz Brothers so she does have that BJJ influence.

Nate and Conor going to get ate up by any wrestlers. Good luck to you though, Nate. I'm glad he's getting money if anything
Nate has had some impressive subs man - Nates problem has always been that he is still a kid in the streets - Love to trade blows and stand up, but if he legits dedicate more time at taking down and wrestling from jump - you'll see that he is good at what he does.

Not saying that he would walk over dudes, but he def could hold his own and beat some dudes.

Just saw Aldo's post on IG

Called Conor a kitty cat. Damn
Although I didnt like the way this fight ended and I think Aldo is great, this is the last Mofo that should be talking. He got put out of this world in seconds and now you are enjoying someone else demised? You even decline a fight because lack of training camp. I dont want to hear nothing from this CAT .....

This would be logical - but like you said Dana has invested so much into Ronda that he will get first dibs .....

170 was not a good look for Conor. He was carrying too much muscle and without his reach advantage over opponents, all the swinging and missing gassed him out. Granted, Nate's style allows him to slip the punches or turn with the punches when they connect, but overall I don't think Conor would do well at WW.

Good win for Nate. His jiu jitsu was on point..

Good analysis IMO on all points. I also noted prior that he was bulky

Conor's chin also under question somewhat now

Conor was talking about the ground work of Diaz at the press conference last night. He was saying he tried getting out of the Guillotine the same way he got out of it against Mendes.

Agreed with you Keko, Nate can hold his own for sure. Khabib still needs to prove he's back and Bendo is gone now. Really the main grapplers/wrestlers at 55 are RDA, Khabib and Alvarez, so that bodes somewhat well for Nate. There aren't a ton of wrestlers like there were in years past

When they were out there in the ring together there didn't even appear to be a size difference. it really was two 155 guys fighting without cutting weight and McGregor got murked. Cerrone was right when he said the top guys in that weight class would handle him easily
