The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

Rondas answers I like she's so legit. Still not sure she beats Cyborg.
Connor legit won period. Conditioning or not doesn't change how kicks and punches feel.
Cain got Got! I'm sorry Werdum has evolved and sonned him in standup!

So you're gonna say Ronda is only going to have 15 minutes of fame, but you've never seen her fight?

Do you realize how stupid you sound?

How many 135lb women are there for her to beat up? Or even women period?

She's got a short list of potential fights as is.

What is she going to do?

You're not one of the clowns who thinks she can fight men are you?

Do you realize that you're the one who sounds stupid for getting your panties in a bunch over my opinion?

Cain had several months notice and is known to be the best conditioned HW in the game.

Chad had 12 days. It's nothing like Mendes/Mcgregor.

Cain got his *** beat for 3 rounds and it wasn't close. This is easily the least deserving immediate rematch that's happened in recent times.
Agree 100%. It's always difficult to talk about hypothetical situations because maybe things change and maybe they don't. But it's easier to buy that Cain would have had a better showing / won against Werdum if he had gotten to Mexico to acclimate a lot earlier than he did, as opposed to saying Chad would have done better / won against Connor if he had a full fight camp. At least it is for me.

 I guess I'm alone on this one but I disagree 1000% with yall. Cain was definitely dumb for not going to Mexico early but bottom line, that a different fight if he has a gas tank and doesn't have almost 2 years of inactivity. Ring rust is no joke, then pair that with no gas tank from the elevation, horrible combo.

And Conor landed some body kicks but again, that's also a different fight if Mendes has a gas tank.

I guess we'll just have to see the rematches to know for sure tho.

The only thing is Black, so what, the fight should have never happened in the first place? That's the issue I have with this line of thought

Again, there should be at least a 1-1.5 year rule on rematches

I don't want the belt to be locked into a trilogy

They bout to have that belt between them for the duration of 2016

If Cain wins a close match, I wouldn't be surprised if a new contender didn't challenge until 2017

I hope this happens so they can sleep in the bed they made

Nah I understand that too, the fight had to be made, it was just a hell of situation for Cain to be in on his first fight back that's all.

Werdum was already a beast, definitely the most dangerous dude in the division next to Cain, and would've been a tough style matchup for Cain at his peak. But coming off the layoff and then getting the fight at elevation where he (stupidly) didn't get acclimated to the elevation early enough, against the #2 dude that's been tearing through dudes and also based his training camp in Mexico City for months before the fight? I don't think there's many guys that could go into that situation and come out with the W.

I think we saw the best Werdum but definitely not the best Cain. And even though it was partly his own fault, I still think he performs way better in a rematch so I'm not that mad that they're making it.

And I kinda think JDS is shot but a Werdum-JDS rematch coulda been cool just for the storyline.

Will you be mad if they tie the belt up from now until 2017?

Yeah I guess the problem is if Cain wins then Werdum "deserves" a rematch. That's the biggest downside to the rematch thing.

I personally don't think Rothwell, Stipe or Arlovski have anything for Cain or Werdum, but anything could happen and having fresh matchups could at least be interesting

I wouldn't bet against it
This is true, you never know with the UFC these days. A trilogy back to back like that would be wack. Cain had the altitude excuse to help him get the rematch. I don't think Werdum will have anything to help him get and immediate one if he loses.

Dambit Dana gifting Cain the title shot again.

So sick and tired of these rematches. Arlovski should've been next. If not him, then JDS.

AA/Mir, JDS, Stipe/Rothwell gonna be waiting a looooong time for their chance

Unless they do Werdum dirty and don't give him a rematch if Cain wins, which is ENTIRELY possible too if the right money is to be made

Yea definitely not looking forward to Cain/Werum right now. Don't get me wrong of course I'll watch but as everyone said Cain should not be given the immediate rematch. Would much rather see JDS, AA or even Miocic get the next shot. I think if JDS and Werdum win their next fights they set up this match. They could then do a title eliminator with Stipe/AA if both win.

Who would have a better claim if both win their next fights: AA or JDS? Or Rothwell

Very compelling cases to be made for all 3 if they were to win

Stepping aside from the HW title / rematch conversation for a minute, I think this point by BlackCease is too important to ignore. It applies to fighters across the board, regardless of division: it's very rare that both guys in a fight will be in their prime, more so these days than when the UFC was just starting to blow up. Jose Aldo's a good example: dude was straight up washing guys left and right in the WEC. I'm sure he's improved and evolved as a fighter since those days but he's also been in much more difficult fights and taken damage over that time, so he's not as "fresh" as guys who are just coming up... definitely not as fresh as he once was (for some of the older MMA heads out there, this also applies to someone like Chuck Liddell).

Today's Conor is probably the best he's ever been. But can you say the same about Aldo? I don't know that you can.

So back to the HWs, agree that Werdum is probably the best version of himself right now but not sure that a post-surgery Cain, even if he had arrived in Mexico much sooner, would be the "best" Cain. Then again, if he had won against Werdum this point probably wouldn't matter.

Werdum has been in the game a long time and this is the best i've ever seen him.

His striking has evolved leaps and bounds on top of his bjj expertise
