More so "KZ's" competitive spirit. No quit in him, comes forward to a fault. Even with the shoulder injury, he forced Aldo to finish him.

Faber v Rivera booked for 181. Francisco is always down for some violence, but this booking doesn't make much sense to me. Another likely W for Urijah.

Jeez, 181 is getting STACKED.

Faber was lowkey duckin

"Fighting Raphael Assunaco isn't that exciting to me," said Faber, who defeated Assuncao at featherweight in the WEC in 2010. "I have nothing against him, he's a good guy and a good fighter. I just think there are other challenges out there that could be better for me."

Faber was scheduled to face Masanori Kanehara in Japan on Sept. 20, but had to pull out due to a rib injury. He's back up and running in the gym and waiting on his marching orders from the UFC.

But a glimpse at the rankings show no real obvious path. Faber has wins over the fighters ranked from 4-7 by the UFC: Assuncao, Michael McDonald, Takeya Mizugaki and Iuri Alcantara.

"I mean, if Assuncao was a fight the UFC wanted, I wouldn't say no to it," Faber said. "I've never said no to any fight the UFC has asked of me. It's not a fight I'd lobby for. Right now I'm willing to wait and see what comes up."

Figured Faber would've been asking for Assuncao or Barao next. The winner would've been almost guaranteed a title shot after Cruz/Dillashaw. Now if Barao/Assuncao fights, that winner will probably get a title shot leaving Faber out in the cold.

Now that McGregor says he wants another fight instead of waiting around for the next title shot, I wonder what potential fights they could set him up with either at 145 lbs or 155 lbs since he wants a fight at that weight.

I'm sure there are plenty of guys that would be down to fight Conor at 155.

145 is much thinner. Maybe Lentz? Is he healthy?

145 aint that much thinner really, everyone just taken. Plus, he shouldn't be dabbling at 155 yet

Aldo/Mendes

Frankie/Cub

Lamas/Bermudez

That's 5 guys who are all in the title picture, 6 with Conor

Lentz is healthy, he was supposed to fight Oliveria but Oliveria dropped out after he couldn't make weight. Lentz, Siver. Would have been cool to see Zombie and Conor but no dice

When you cutting 15-20 pounds, 145 is miles away from 155. laugh.gif

It all depends on the guy

Dog, I think you missed out on the meaning of thinner in that whole conversation :lol

BTW, illphill, I will say that 155 is seriously loaded. Has to be one of the top divisions. So any other division is thinner in comparison, but I think 145 is still pretty solid. Everyone just has opponents right now

It's all good :lol

What your opinion on 145 as a division though? Obviously 155 is loaded, probably one of the best divisions in the sport

Outside of Aldo, Mendes, Edgar, Cub and McGregor, I'm not really interested in any fighters in the division.

And Aldo's already beaten all of those guys minus Conor. Just doesn't make for an exciting division for me.

I would say Flyweight and Heavyweight are the only other divisions that are as stagnant right now off the top of my head.

Maybe Bermudez if he goes on a tear. Lamas....I just was not a fan of his fight with Aldo. Good fighter but just not really a fan right now.

I'm loving the Edgar Frankie fight but it's literally the only fight I care about in the division right now.

Just my opinion. Denis Siver old *** need to fall back laugh.gif

Bantamweight doe?

I mean for Christ sake they got Mitch Gagnon fighting Barao for his return fight in December. Mitch ******* Gagnon. Let that marinate

I think 145 is the same caliber as 205 if not better in terms of depth. Jones demolished everyone cept DC and Rumble. Gonna be honest and say Rumble got no chance of beating Jones. IMO. The good thing going for 145 is that a lot of guys are pretty young

Here's my tiers

155/170

185

145/205

The rest...

125/135/heavyweight

Cruz and Assuncao on the come up make BW more interesting to me than Featherweight.

Cruz return alone makes the division more exciting.

Barao fight is a comeback fight in Brazil. They ain't even being subtle about how non competetive that fight if supposed to be laugh.gif

205 had Gus, Cormier, Rumble when he comes back gunning for Jones. I wouldn't put that division in the same class as 145.

I honestly love Faber, love love him. I just don't see him beating Barao (got his *** kicked twice, regardless of the stoppage) or possibly Cruz (although I still am not sold on him, as we didn't see much.. especially his gas tank). I don't see Faber fighting TJ.

That leaves TJ, Barao and Assauncao

For me, I'm taking Aldo, Cub, Frankie, Conor over them every single time. Way more exciting and interesting IMO. Again, Aldo did destroy Cub, but in flash KO fashion... in 2009. It would be a much different fight, guaranteed, now. Lamas is sort of meh to me but I love Bermudez. Yeah he's a wrestler, but he actually will bang with you too.

Fair enough. I think Cruz instantly makes the division more exciting.

Dude was a legit Top 5/10 P4P candidate before getting injured and washed a Top 5 fighter in his return.

That's enough for me.

Agreed that Cub/Aldo should be a different fight now. And you know I been FIENDING for Cub/Frankie.

I just think comparatively most other divisions have more exciting fights and legit contenders.

I love Cruz just as much as Faber, I am praying he is really really back. I can't wait to see him go at it with TJ. The footwork should be off the charts

He'll succeed with his desires soon enough

Ex-MMA fighter War Machine, formerly known as Jonathan Koppenhaver, is in medical isolation in a Las Vegas jail after a suicide attempt, police confirmed Thursday, according to multiple reports.

A Clark County Detention Center guard found Koppenhaver Tuesday night after tried to hang himself, according to authorities. Police said Koppenhaver was unresponsive. Multiple reports say at least one note was found in the jail cell.

Koppenhaver's attorney, Brandon Sua, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that his client's depression and anxiety had "increased since his August arrest."

Koppenhaver, 32, is being held without bond on charges of attempted murder, domestic battery by strangulation, first-degree kidnapping and sexual assault, stemming from an alleged incident involving his ex-girlfriend and adult film actress Christy Mack on Aug. 8 at Mack's Las Vegas residence. The professional mixed martial artist faces the possibility of life in prison.

A preliminary hearing had been scheduled for Friday, but the Review-Journal reported that lawyers told a judge Wednesday that they wanted to try negotiate with prosecutors.

Koppenhaver was extradited to Las Vegas from Ventura County, California, on Aug. 30 after he was arrested in a Los Angeles suburb.

Shesh ufc 181 is a extremely stacked can't wait like bart Scott

So pumped that Houston Alexander is fighting to for bellator smokin.gif

Anybody else see that rant rampage went on about the ufc pay scale with fighters and how much they actually make is millions apart and the reason why he's fighting now is he can't retire comfortably
post #4791 of 34040
I saw that article too, i read somewhere that the best way to solve this problem is to take away fight bonuses and use it to split with all the fighters.

There needs to be a fighters' union, with a collectively bargained pay scale

Barely any noise for this fight considering.

I think Alpha male will be taking home another strap.

Not blown away by the card in general but I'm not a big Phil Davis fan and even Glover isn't someone I tune in for.

Rashad and Gus might be in the works.

I swear Rumble's accension at 205 made me completely forget about dude laugh.gif
post #4797 of 34040

I'd be down to see Gus vs Rashad.

Never understood why they suspended Rumble and killed any chance of a match between him and Gus. Dana went out there and basically said he doesn't believe the accuser. How the girl has a bunch of felonies and when she said that Rumble did certain things, he wasn't even in the country.

Very bizarre case indeed regarding Rumble.

Have no real interest in watching Rashad anymore tbh. Time is definitely ticking on him. Don't see a second peak coming for his career. Gus might force him in to retirement..

UFC rescinded Cung Le's suspension.

Kinda looks bad to me. Either Cung Le is guilty and got away with it. Or Victor Conte was right and UFC cheaped out by using a lab that wasn't accredited by WADA and didn't do the correct testing methods and tests.

not sure if anyone has brought this up but Carlos Diego Ferreira kind of looks like Joe Silva

Do they still have the blood to retest them back the US? either way the UFC needs to put out a statement by this week to explain everything.
