The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

I was fighting boredom tbh. Like I said, neither man impressed me at all..

Saturday has 2 cards.. Cung v Bisping, Woodley v Kim and Bendo v RDA..

Idk why he deleted it. Its the truth. Even Rumble tweeted out, "Boring is all I have to say!" and he didn't delete it.
**** Fight Pass.

They could have done one event on Fox with a sick lineup.
I thought the TWood v Kim fight was on Fox but its on that Fight Pass card.

I wish they would do like WWE and include ppvs in the package. Not saying charge $10 a month, but if they charge $20-25 a month with ppvs included I'm sure a lot more people would sign up. Plus its not like they'd be losing out on a lot of money. Cable and satellite companies already take 45-55% of the ppv cost that we pay.

Jones shutting it down early :smh:

OSP is horrible. Dude got no business headlining a card.

Tavares was beasting until he got cracked. Looked super motivated having been ragdolled by Romero last time out. He'll back even better i'm sure.

Mini Tavares looked good at 145. Peralta is dangerous but he took him into his world and totally abused him.

I think Maynard is in those Jake Ellenberger waters now. Guy was on the brink of being a champ and now he's getting mopped up every time he steps in the octagon. Doesn't seem the type of dude to continue for the love of the game either.

Rudeboy at 170 Jouban looks nice. Great feet and movement, tight striking and he kept his **** together when he was getting tagged. Nice debut finish against an awkward dude.

What's going on with Overeem? He really needs to change and take advantage of his opportunity training at Jackson/Winklejohn. At first the guys at The Blackzillians said that he intentionally hurts people in training. Then Jon Jones got hurt while training with him. Now Arlovski is saying that Overeem hurt him too.
“Well, I’m not big on telling tales out of school, but there is some truth to these words. Couple of days ago I sparred with Overeem and learned such outcome by my own experience. Usually sparring partners don’t try to inflict a real damage to each other. But Overeem at one moment kneed me really hard in the stomach. In a real fight I could have been KO’ed after that”.

“I rushed to a hospital to make sure that my ribs are not broken. Thank God, everything was all right, though initially me and my coach, we were afraid that Bigfoot bout would have to be cancelled. It was really unexpected and so dirty that I wanted to have my revenge on him at first, at least elbow him. But my boxing coach Andrey Ivchuk who was next to me at the moment calmed me down: “Don’t you go as low as a guy who is fond of such dirty tricks”. As you see, it is very important to have a wise coach. Now I know that Overeem injured Jones simply because he injures everyone he trains with”.

Reem seems like a douche

Rumble Johnson:

Greg Jackson says it wasn't on purpose, but I know the man and when he was here he was always hurting somebody. Accidentally on purpose. And it ain't because he's clumsy, he ain't clumsy, he would just hurt you. I've seen the guy do it. I've seen him basically bullying and stuff ... If Joe Silva called me up and offered me that fight, yeah, I'd take that and knock his head off ... And, well, right now, Alistair Overeem is the right guy (laughs). I'd love to knock him out. And I’d do it with a big smile on my face too.

Arlovksi might actually have a stronger jaw than him, should try and put overeem to sleep in sparring.

Cung Le doesn't play.. I wouldn't be surprised if he kicked Bisping's chin into oblivion. Honestly, if Bisping loses I have to question his place/trajectory in the UFC. Le should be the type of opponent Bisping can box with and effectively outbox. Bisping needs a decisive win.

RDA and Bendo both destroyed Cowboy but whoever wins their fight will probably have to wait in line for a title shot if Cowboy defeats Bobby Green. Doesn't seem right. Give credit to Cowboy though for fighting every other month

to run off a long streak.

BTW, Rumble wants Bader. Of course he does

easy W against a top 10 opponent. I won't give Rumble much credit after he destroys Bader

This new Stun Gun that doesn't want to lay and pray. Not wanting to use his wrestling, size, strength because it's perceived as boring. If he trades and bangs with T-Wood, could be bad news.

I can see Green boxing Cerrone up over 3 rounds. After seeing the Thomson fight i don't think there are many guys at 155 who could live with him on the feet.

I prefer Cowboy's overall technique. Green is susceptible to Cerrone's submission game.

Thomson's striking has never impressed me though except for when he landed that headkick on nate. Probably because his hands lack power.

I like hearing this from Stun Gun cause it makes fights more entertaining for fans. But if he gets rocked he better try to utilize his wrestling or it'll be a bad night for him.

I wish that Phil Davis would take a lesson from SG when it comes to lay and pray and not being perceived as boring. He's already talking about being worried about biased judging in Brazil. That tells me that his game plan is to try and take Glover down and lay on him from a decision win. Maybe he should start worrying about his basic striking that he's been working on for years now.

I find Davis helped Gus with his takedown D more than Gustafsson helped Phil with his striking. That's the exact gameplan I'm expecting from "Mr. Wonderful." Lay and pray to a safe, un-entertaining decision. Davis wants no parts of Glover's power after feeling Rumble's hands.

"Stun Gun" got wild and a bit lucky against Silva. Took many unnecessary power shots while trading recklessly.

Woodley and Gun's grappling/wrestling/lay and pray will cancel each other out. They'll both be swinging for the fences in this match IMO, also both want to make statements in this loaded division

Possibly... Green has real good TDD though. I think he would have to rock him before he could lock anything up. Similar to the Barboza fight.

Phil Davis should fight OSP so we can watch a kickboxing clinic.

I know you're joking but if Phil loses to Glover, this is a fight that I expect them to make and probably a fight that Phil asks for. Phil would just lay on him the entire fight.

I'm starting to like Rumble more and more. The guy wants to fight everyone. He wants Bader in October, then Gus on the DC/Jones card, and he still wants Overeem. I just wish he would have moved up to 205 or 185 earlier in his career when everyone was telling him to.

I heard that Phil is training at AKA for bit, so he should improve or have new tools towards his wrestling

Yeah Phil was at AKA helping DC prepare for Jones. Just my opinion but I don't really think Phil is working on his striking as much like he says. I think it'll take Glover beating him for him to really start concentrating on his standup. Phil is just like Ben Askren to me. They're both good wrestlers and can take down and control most guys. So in their eyes their wrestling is unstoppable so theres no need to really evolve. Look at his fight with Vinny Magalhães and Rumble, his striking is kinda basic.

If Bader took OSP down at will imagine how much Phil would lay on him

BTW, just read that Eddie Alvarez is officially a free agent

I wonder if UFC goes back and makes changes to the 178 fights now. Make Cerrone v Alvarez and Green vs Masvidal again.

Update:  Alvarez signed with UFC and will face Cerrone at 178 as the co-main. Now Bobby Green is without an opponent and is likely off the card.
