The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

His body language during the interview was indicative of someone who had been gifted a decision. Oh well its done.
If you're going to reference body language, Hendricks' body language after the fight was that of someone who know he lost

Hendricks made it a point to say he knew he didn't come out in the 4th and 5th rounds. He was thoroughly humble and didn't object hardly at all with the decision. Wasn't fussing wasn't complaining because he knew ultimately it was a 50/50 call

It's a case of a close fight where both fighters can admit they did enough to win while at the same time admitting that if the other were awarded the win they couldn't really object.

Nobody got gifted anything

Agreed. Hendricks has no problem being vocal when he feels he was wronged by the judges (GSP) and that didn't seem to be the case this time.

Hendricks straight up said that he didn't do anything in the 4th and 5th because his body quit on him and how he had a really bad weight cut.

Yep. He said he would get with Dolce and wants to walk around at 195 instead of 215. He walks around at 215 bruh to cut to 170... crazy. That's almost Rumble status

Out of training camp he is 215. He doesn't cut from 215 to make 170.

Regardless he walks around at 215, in fact in an article I just read he was quoted as walking around in the 220's. That's a lot of weight to cut down from. Rumble walks around in the 220-230 range and was cutting to WW and everyone knew that was insane. That's my point.

I read in the past that Lawler walks around at around 200 himself which sounds more normal to me.

Serious question but if his walking around weight is 215, how is he not cutting from 215 to make 170? From what I read, it sounded like Hendricks started camp at 215 lbs when he began trying to get to 170.

But out of all of this, it feels like fighters and nutritionists are starting to come out and take shots at Dolce and his "bro science" when it comes to cutting.

On a totally unrelated note, had the honor of "shadow-sparring" with Kru Phil Nurse today.

HUMBLING experience to say the least

Yes his normal weight is 215 as high as the 220's. It is comparable to what Rumble used to do to cut down to WW which everyone knew was insane. It's interesting that we don't say the same thing about Hendricks cutting down to WW. I knew he was a big dude but I didn't realize he got all the way up to the 220's

@illphillip  that's pretty cool. What was he doin over at your spot?

I don't understand how it's healthy to cut 30-45 pounds to fight. We've had a death in the last year, Barao had to opt out of a fight and now Hendricks is claiming it's the reason why he lost.

It's not healthy at all bro. That's what I'm sayin, I'm surprised we don't talk more about how much weight Hendricks has to cut. It would be interesting to see Hendricks at MW

Is it because of height? No one has rally explained it except for the "advantage" these fighters may have once they hydrate (which is not much since it's only a day after and they're still haggard). Barao should be fighting in a higher weight class. Aldo should be fighting in a higher weight class.

JBJ could fight at HW but he'd be on the smaller side compared to these dudes at 240-260.

Stop comparing Hendricks and Rumble. it is a bad example

First off, Rumble is 5 inches taller than Johnny. And Rumble has a wider frame. His body is naturally built for carrying around more weight

Johnny puts on fat a balloons up to 215, he loses the fat during training, gets below 200, then dehydrates himself to make 170.

People though Rumble was crazy because he had a lower BF% when he was at his highest compared to Hendericks.

Johnny just got a Jan Ullrich problem. He needs to stop getting so heavy and hoping that training will get him down to a good weight to cut from

The weight cut to 170 has been a problem for Hendricks for a while now. After the first fight with Robbie he was already talking about wanting to move up to 185 and having a super fight with Weidman saying he was only a few fights away from it but Dana shot him down.

But yeah cutting weight can't be healthy at all. I'm shocked that Rousey and all the other Dolce fighters don't have high blood pressure. I remember reading about how she uses a lot of salt so that her body bloats and then closer to the fight she cuts out all salt so her body can lose all of the fluid in the sauna.

That's fine but the amount of weight he cuts from is still a lot, regardless of height, which is the main point.

Bruh

Anthony Pettis  made a triumphant return from a 15-month hiatus at UFC 181  in Las Vegas on Saturday. Now, the lightweight champion could be looking at another six months on the shelf.

The Nevada Athletic Commission on Monday released its list of medical suspensions from UFC 181. Among them was Pettis, who must have his left hand X-rayed and cleared by a doctor following his successful title defense against Gilbert Melendez  in the show’s co-main event. Depending on the outcome of the X-ray, Pettis could be sidelined until June 6.

It's downright depressing. Hoping for the best with that x-ray. Khabib will be ready to fight in April. RDA/Diaz and Cowboy would be ready to fight in April or May. If Pettis can't even start training until June

Working with Phil Nurse must have seen sick. Was he rocking the MJ hoop earrings at the time? 8)

I've just started kickboxing myself. Working for the most part with kids half my and age and size. Likewise, a very humbling experience

Rogan got REAL honest with Schaub on his performance and career going forward. A must watch :smh:

These guys need to get off that animal protein. **** is killing their tendons and bones.

Dump that bro science backed paleo, it's ruining careers in the octagon and lives outside the octagon.
