The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

Damn, I hate to agree with the PEDs for RDA but I thought that a while back and when he all of a sudden KO'd Smooth, it was just like.. whoa

Hope that's not anywhere near true

Hooking up with that striking coach was a game changer for him regardless

Cowboy has been trashed by Nate, Pettis and RDA and he lost to Bendo in his last fight (who had already defeated him twice). Pettis and RDA will serve him again if they meet

He was also getting lit up by Barboza and was fortunate to connect on that jab

Don't have any faith in Cowboy
this is the dumbest thing ive heard...

Johnny Hendricks crazy for buying that Ford 650. That thing bigger than Optimus Prime.

Saturday's card looking good on paper. Totally forgot about Brown/Hendricks and Nelson/Overreem.

Can't believe the media is tryin to pop off on this Ali/Rhousey fight. Let that lady stay retired and not follow in the foot steps of her father.

Isn't Hendricks the one with that crazy management team? Where they gave him a place to live, a car allowance, full insurance, and a weekly paycheck so he just has to focus on training but he pays them 50% of his earnings?

yup. Team Takedown takes care of everything for him.

What's dumb about it? You think Cowboy has a chance to compete with RDA, Pettis?

You seem upset
how do u sense that im upset by that? i simply said its the dumbest thing ive read.

ur trying to discount majority of his wins by stating things like "he was losing until he won" or "he lost the decision"....hate to break it to u, HE WON all those fights.

Finished Barbosa in under a round and Johnson couldn't do it in 3...so i guess Johnson must really suck then by ur logic?

And did u watch the RDA fight? Cowboy lost 2-1 but was dominating by the third....if it was a 5 rd main event ill bet money Cowboy wins that fight.

U don't have faith in him, thats fine thats ur opinion...but dude is on the longest winning streak in that division if im correct

Saying I have no faith in Cowboy beating RDA, Pettis is the dumbest thing you've ever read? I sense that you're either hurt, or you're lying

I'm not discounting a damn thing, where did I do that? I am saying he stands no chance against RDA, Pettis, and probably not Khabib. I said that Bendo beat him 3 times

Cowboy got ragdolled by RDA, it wasn't a 5 round fight and they didn't train for a 5 round fight, so that's pointless to say. He also got DESTROYED by Nate Diaz. He was getting lit up by Barboza before he landed that jab, is that incorrect?

I think Cowboy is always right near the top but he'll never be the best. Nothing wrong with that when we're talking about the 155 division. I'm merely stating what will be fact soon

Again, I LOVE Cowboy, he is one of my favorite fighters EVER. I hold the WEC fighters near and dear to my heart, if you have been in this thread long enough you would know that from how much I post about the WEC fighters

I feel like Cowboy starts his fights "cold" and takes awhile to get warmed up.

I thought Barboza had his number until he woke up. I remember that fight with Melvin. Same thing.

u know what part i was referring to in ur og post. u tried to discount his wins.

so he got "ragdolled" by rda? u sure bout that? he was getting lit up by baroza? u sure bout that. not once did he get hurt in that fight.

You can't even show me what you're referring to when it comes to discounting his wins. Are you talking about the Barboza and Benson wins? How is that the worst thing you've ever read. A majority of folks thought Cowboy lost against Benson and regardless both had an underwhelming performance

He got dominated by RDA and Barboza was catching him with hard punches. Maybe ragdolled was strong, but Cowboy did ZERO to threaten RDA and RDA had him hurt

"It looked like Donald Cerrone was on his way to getting outclassed on the feet, but he rebounded to rock Edson Barboza and earn another solid finish on the ground. With three straight stoppages, has "Cowboy" put his mental preparedness issues behind him?"

Seems like everyone calls cerrone a slow starter.

I think Kenny Florian said it in that video Vincent Van Ho posted.

I like Cowboy. He's been on a tear as of late and the number of fights he's had is crazy.

But I'd probably say he's like #5 or #6 in his division after Pettis, Habib, Dos Anjos, Bendo and Melendez ATM. He's definitely a good fighter but he hasn't had a solid win over a top ranked LW. Alvarez is questionable since we've never seen him fight in the UFC (I feel like Chandler might not even scratch the top ten or if he did just barely). Besides that, he got TKO'd by Diaz, got the kick of death from Pettis, dominated by Dos Anjos and looked lackluster in his third fight with Bendo.

The Habib fight is an important one for him. The odds aren't looking too good stylistically.

Cerrone even admitted that he's a slow starter. Don't remember which fight, but he stated that because he's a slow starter he started sparring with one of his coaches during the fight before his in hopes that he'll start out faster.

Well, he better not start slow in his next fight. Or it's going to be one of the most frustrating fights he's ever had, and the fans will be pissed.

Reading articles it seems like Joanna is starting to become a fan favorite. She does seem a little crazy. Her habit of being eyeball to eyeball with her opponents is hilarious especially when she's taller and hunches down to do it. She's fun to watch as well with her striking style.

155?

While Jose Aldo already has a title defense scheduled against outspoken Irishman Conor McGregorat UFC 189 "Aldo vs. McGregor" on July 11, the reigning featherweight king said his next move has already been planned.

He just isn’t ready to reveal exactly what it is.

“One step at a time,” Aldo told Sherdog.com following a recent sparring session at Nova Uniao.” I have a tough fight with McGregor, and that´s my goal now. After that fight, you will know what is gonna happen. The UFC knows, I know, and everything is already set.

“As soon as I beat McGregor, you will know what´s gonna be my next step.”

Lol @ CM Punk being so "humble"

Anthony Pettis: “CM Punk Will Walk Me To The Cage, But Won’t Be In My Corner”
UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettisrecently confirmed the rumors that formerWWE  Superstar CM Punk  will be walking him to the Octagon for his title defense againstRafael dos Anjos  at UFC 185.

In speaking with MMAFighting.com’s  Ariel Helwani, Pettis said that Punk, who will make his UFC and MMA fighting debut at some point in the near future, will be walking him to the cage, but will not be cornering him for the fight.

“Yes, he will be walking with me out to the cage,” said Pettis. “He’s not going to corner me, obviously. He still has some stuff to learn.”

Pettis continued, “He offered to come out and I think having as many people out here as possible helps me feel comfortable, feel like I’m back at home.”

The UFC 155-pound champ concluded, “He’s a very cool guy. He’s so humble.”

Watch out for Joanna Jedrzejczyk. 6-time Muay Thai champion. I have a strong feeling she takes Carla's strawweight belt by TKO 1. I've watched her takedown defense improve against Lima and Gadelha. Carla's going to shoot for takedowns early and often, key to fhe fight. Joanna has a significant advantage in the stand-up. Dangerous hands, very accurate. She almost finished Gadelha with an uppercut, ran out of time in the round. Tagged Lima consistently with sharp punches. And new...

We've been wondering why the UFC didn't do Edgar/Mendes when they could have.

Possible they know Aldo is going to 155 if he wins this fight and have that fight penciled in as a title fight if he vacates?

I have, I think we all have, long waited this move. Just a little worried that he won't have the impact I thought he would.. when we saw Edgar and Mendes get their damage in.. I just wonder what bigger guys will do to him. Aldo hasn't stopped anyone in a while (the last time was after Korean Zombie dislocated his shoulder), which is not a knock by any means, it's just a factor that makes me wonder how he'd realistically fare against that absolute shark tank at 155
