Working a 9-5 sucks hOW DO PEOPLE DO THIS

8AM - 5PM Monday through Friday. Graduated in May also. It started off crappy. I hated my old office. God a transfer and it's been all good ever since. I believe the key is finding a job that you enjoy. When you're at work and you are so miserable that you count down til it's time to dip, you know it's a problem. When you get a job that you enjoy, those 8 hours fly off the clock.

It always helps having hobbies. Me personally I try to write scripts in my down time. Add that with going to the gym and I can truly say I'm good where I am in life right now. But I'm not trying to get complacent. Starting grad school next month.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss college. The "real world" is so confined. It's been so hard for me to meet new people. Outside the bar scene, I have no idea where to meet new people. I hate Starbucks/coffee. :smh:

 I hate Starbucks/coffee.
mean.gif
coffee is rocket fuel for me but man is it harsh on the tummy...it sucks because i go through 3-4 cups per morning

i like starbucks iced coffee...i prefer that over hot brewed **** we get from the kueregs in my office...ill let it sit til its room temp

Restaurant managers always work 12+ hour shifts... like multiple days in a row. that is some **** I would NEVER do. they do make about 6 figure tho
The manager at my job gets to the restaurant around 10 , works there until 11 , then works at the bar that the owners also own until 3 or 4 AM . He does that 6 days a week. Dude lives off redbull and cigs, he goes through a case of redbull a week

Tell this to the thousands of people looking for a job right now :rolleyes

I used to be like you when I just graduated college, but reality hit me like a @#$@$. I'm employed now, and I like working a boring 8-10 hour job cause it makes my weekends that much more fun  When I was unemployed and going out on a daily basis, @#$% got too boring

damn. how long did it take you to adjust to night shifts?

I work 8-5 as well.. I aint eem mad tho, stacking that paper >> having no job

I was 22 when I started, I don't think I've ever met a 22 year old that had issues breaking night...lol would be tough to adjust to that shift now tho....lol

same **** for me...i take the 5:41a z29 from burtonsville to downtown silver spring, then catch the J4 to my office in Bethesda. usually out the door by 5:20a and in office by 6:30a.

i can leave at 2:30p but the bus back from SS to Burtonsville doesnt start northbound til 4p so i have an extra 1.5 hours to kill.

lol i used to do that, look on the bright side you are saving money!!!!

Son I'd kill for a 9-5 right now. I'm still I college and sometimes I just want to say **** it. Its killing me slowly.

hell yea job gives me a travel stipend per month and you get free bus transfers within 2 hours so its not bad at all...

morning commute isnt bad but that afternoon one going north on 29 can either be decent or terrible

Put in the work bruh.. Been with my company in behavioral health for almost 8 yrs with just an aa.. I make more than all of the therapists and clinicians due to seniority and 7% raise every yr.

Gotta put in the work..

not even like that I would do it in a heartbeat I just don't want to everyday right now

Welcome to my world. Ive been going through this the last 8 years after graduating.. :smh:

it's good to have money but this working till the end of life just doesn't seem like me |I

I dont wan't to be a cubicle warrior..with my field im afraid thats going to be destiny if I dont have my own

Graduated in May.
Working actualllyyy 8am-5pm

Is this all there is left?
Get a job/house/wife/dog/church... die???????

I miss the social scene in college and at 22 I feel old AF

Anybody work 9-5 and dig their job?
Am i doing it right?
Sitting down for hours on end- how do people do this??????
not too bad. Do it till you can save your money and do what you want. Didn't you go to college to get a career? You should be working in the field you went to school for right? Career> Job

 so naive..

@whatslosinglike

honestly, i really don't give a **** what you think bro.

id rather be a naive, young, stupid dude who put everything he had into doing what he loved than sitting at some desk doing nothing memorable and watching my life fly by.

i swear to god, even if i don't achieve my dream i'd rather be broke and homeless but able to say 'i tried' than to work a 9-5 and wonder what if.

period.

This is mentality is why majority of people end up broke and homeless, only the minority actually succeed at not doing what's needed to maintain a stable life but become millionaires out the blue or something.

man, Im a dreamer as well, but i was brooooke for toooo long. got a 8-5, saving my money till i can reach the career or goal i want. I rather suffer with full pockets to get fuller pockets then suffer with nothing

Just worked my 9-5, worked out, now heading out to do 11 PM-7 AM

Can't wait until I find a job I actually enjoy. Won't even care what the hours are.

I've never had a job where I DON'T count down the hours. I get heated when I look at the clock by accident and it's way earlier than I expected.

hey if the man truly believes he'd rather be broke and homeless let him be.

Humbled Humbled so what are you doing now? you in school or something?

 college spoils us twentysomethings. 9-5 is not a burden, it's a reality check. We spend 4 years in college literally creating our own schedules to maximize our fun and sleep. We skip classes, somehow feel disrespected if we are forced to take a Friday night class, and essentially try to map out the easiest way to tackle the hardest work.

We're all willing to forego 9-5 work for our aspirational work (ie. producing music, making art) but we're hypocrites once 5'oclock hits and we have to decide between rest we think we deserve and that same aspirational work. That is not hustling, that is settling.
