Working a 9-5 sucks hOW DO PEOPLE DO THIS

My take is that humans aren't meant to be slaves for 45 hours a week. It's so mentally torturous. So debilitating.

We know that people end up with bad backs sitting on chairs for that long. We know that people end up depressed doing the same thing for that long.

I feel bad for people who think that is normal. I think if people quit their jobs and started to get creative with their time, they'd be so much happier. Ultimately that's what it's all about.

Start a blog, learn something like baking and advertise it as a service, take up a bar-tending class, etc.

That's my advice.
Learning a trade that one can rely on is the best way one can truly enjoy life in today's time IMO. Sure there are exceptions, but for the most part, the **** we have to do to live a good life sucks. As the population increases, jobs being shipped overseas, and technology improves, it's only gonna get worse. But it is what it is.

I completely agree and that quote is way to real to me. My boss told me I should be happy to be making my salary, all I have to do is wake up a 430 every morning destroying my nightlife and hope some moron isn't speeding and shuts down all lanes causes me to be late and put on probation.

I make so much money for this company and at the end of the day I'm disposable, you all are. I'm buying a 3d printer next week and learning the in's and outs and hopefully begin teaching classes and marketing my skills. I'm tired of working after 8 years out of college, this particular job has completely ruined my work experience for the better.

May I ask what you do and describe your day to day - the reasons you find it difficult?

I wish my job didn't feel like a job to me. I'm thankful to have a job, but i feel like i live for the weekends :smh:

I work for a utility company which is a union job. Paid weekly, benefits, weekends off always. Make 60k been here 1 year and 5 months.

Day to day basically get up super early 430 for a 45 minute commute if I'm lucky, hope I'm not late because this department is ridiculous with being late/tardy even though your given tardy time in the union contract (I just have scumbag management). I live in the dmv area so traffic is no easy task to avoid no matter the time.

I basically deal with electrical equipment all day, with very little change due to union contracts and job titles.

I comes down to lack of creativity due to the union environment and culture of people staying with the company for 30+ years. If your okay with doing the same thing for your whole work career fine, this job is for you if you can get in. I'm not okay maxing out at 70k for the rest of my life. Different strokes I suppose I've worked to hard in my life for that pay.

I definitely live for the weekends, and when the weekend doesn't live up to the hype I get super bummed out. haha. I read and follow people on IG that basically have made something out of nothing so it's possible for sure it's just getting my ideas out.

yo hold up, that dude who works 3pm to 11:30 am, thats like 20 hours

lol sorry I meant 3pm-1130pm..... This is why I want a 9-5 job so I can enjoy the weeknight festivities during the week and possible go to the gym. Weekends and holidays off give me the opportunity to enjoy hobbies like watching sports, hanging out, and playing poker, etc... My schedule limits me from doing that because:

A) I'm soo exhausted from my work schedule
B) I'm trying to adjust to the next shift coverage (evening to overnight to morning body clock)

I regularly work 7am-5pm. It depends on what's going on at work. I gotta pay bills and help support my family.

To the people saying "You 9-5 guys stop complaining, try *insert longer time frame here*", just because you work longer hours doesn't imply we have no right to complain and be unsatisfied with the current situation. Not enjoying a 9-5 lifestyle does not demean the hard work you guys put in. It's ok to complain about both situations. So please, get off that "You lazy I work harder" high horse

Ive had 5 jobs in the past 6 months... grinding aint cool...
funny how things change in 1 year

I laugh at the idea of "I'd rather be homeless." Dudes really have no concept of what homelessness actually entails

My job is boring as **** though :smh:

ya'll ever look at your coworkers, some really rely on the job to feed their family/mortgage. Right now I'm working to save up and buy the crib I really want, but it's crazy working with people my parents' age thinking we're on the same level or close to the same level.

I'm working on my career in IT, not to brag but I'm smart as **** when it comes to computers/electronics.

My job is very, VERY good, we recently had a lay-off that let go of some employees that were there for 30+ years, that was heavy to me. on the same note, they were complacent being there and never really "grew".

But it was a major wake-up call to pursue a CAREER, not just a job.
Edit: we've hired 5+ new people over the past year, ALL young dudes (18-23 year old), ALL have abandonded the job after a week, no call, no show.

All this crying in here. Smh. There are so many people that would kill to have a 9-5.

And yall have no idea...and yall should really be thankful for people in the military cause a 12-13 hour shift is pretty normal.

I remember when I was working 12-10 hr shifts back to back for weeks

That ain't the life, the money's good but at what cost :smh:

Everything is all peaches and cream until you HAVE TO WORK. Responsibility is one hell of a thing children, mortgage, electricity, car payments etc. No work=no money=no home, how in the hell can people not want to work and support themselves/habits is beyond me. Nobody truly wants to work 40 hours a week for the next 30 years of their life but those are the sacrifices you must make to become a man, set a foundation for your children to live a better life then you did. Hell I work road construction for my local county, my job truly sucks. But I'm not planing to work the rest of my life in this Texas heat, I took the job because it was a guaranteed 40 hours, full health insurance, and a 2 to 1 retirement plan. The thing wrong with my generation is nobody wants to work hard are hustle to get ahead, most want that fast gratification given to them. Rather than starting from the ground up and taking what they want. Well I'll tell you this sometimes you gotta take that **** job to get ahead in life, don't expect anything in life to be given to you go out and earn it.

I did manual labor work and I realize how lucky I have it working in an air conditioned office.
