Working a 9-5 sucks hOW DO PEOPLE DO THIS

Dude I feel you one thousand percent. I HATED being on another man's clock and being told when to eat. I wish I could do my artwork day in and day out and sell a painting /drawing for 15000 and be set for a few months.

I was not put on this planet for a $__/hour job. It sucks. Your entire life is consumed in there. Being hungry and homeless sucks more tho.

you CAN do it man. You SHOULD do it. Do it. Like right now.

Graduated in May.
Working actualllyyy 8am-5pm

Is this all there is left?
Get a job/house/wife/dog/church... die???????

I miss the social scene in college and at 22 I feel old AF

Anybody work 9-5 and dig their job?
Am i doing it right?
Sitting down for hours on end- how do people do this??????

You don't go from college => job => wife => house.

Between job and wife is the time to go out and see what's out there. From early 20s to late 20s is the time to enjoy it. You worked your whole life to finish school. Now you can finish your day, come home, turn on the t.v. and enjoy a brew. Go to happy hour. On the weekends, go see the night life. Just don't do anything crazy like get some chick pregs who you don't want to get pregs. Also, take care of your body (work out, eat right). Just don't over do it. Everything in moderation and always put your job first (above your leisure activities).

college spoils us twentysomethings. 9-5 is not a burden, it's a reality check. We spend 4 years in college literally creating our own schedules to maximize our fun and sleep. We skip classes, somehow feel disrespected if we are forced to take a Friday night class, and essentially try to map out the easiest way to tackle the hardest work.

We're all willing to forego 9-5 work for our aspirational work (ie. producing music, making art) but we're hypocrites once 5'oclock hits and we have to decide between rest we think we deserve and that same aspirational work. That is not hustling, that is settling.
wood rep but out of reps

Get some excitement at work.:nerd:

I'm so comfortable and happy with my working situation right now. Guess you just gotta get lucky.

I refuse to wake up every morning and do the same thing every day until I die. I'd rather be broke and homeless. I put that on everything.

Follow your dreams people.

This. Entrepreneurship :smokin You work when you want to work.

honestly, i really don't give a **** what you think bro.

id rather be a naive, young, stupid dude who put everything he had into doing what he loved than sitting at some desk doing nothing memorable and watching my life fly by.

i swear to god, even if i don't achieve my dream i'd rather be broke and homeless but able to say 'i tried' than to work a 9-5 and wonder what if.

period.

You say that now.. do u know what it feels like to be piss poor and homeless???! Do u want to borrow money and other valuables when you are 25-30 from family and friends.. just because you tried to live your dream career and chose the wrong path?? As I'm getting older I've learned we will have to sacrifice a few good thing for greater things to happen.. biggest test in life

I'm curious as to what u want to become when you are older

1. yes i do. and id go through it again. without question

2. if they were willing to and i put it towards something positive, yes i would.

3. music producer. i created my own website from scratch, designed it, coded it, and 2.5 million plays later enough people buy my music on a regular basis to where I can live day by day without worrying about money. I'm not rich by any means, but im definitely not broke either. (check my sig)

im not built like the regular person. when i focus on something, my work ethic is absolutely unreal. there is absolutely no doubt in my mind i can achieve what I want as long as i keep my focus. after this semester, i plan to move to Atlanta and begin networking with people in the industry there.

This thread makes me want to not grow up.

I want to explore the world.

dont get me wrong, i do have my side projects that i work on while im in my 9-5 programming job, but honestly its not 100% guarantee that youll make it. in the mean time id rather keep a roof over my head and work my 9-5.

OP you job must suck or you just don't like your job. I work the same hours but I like my job and I have room to grow. I would suggest looking into a job that you actually like to do. That would make going to work a lot better.

Im an IT Tech if that matters...

eh i dont mind it if im getting good $$$

come home to the fruits of my labor :smokin

Can't wait until I find a job I actually enjoy. Won't even care what the hours are.

I've never had a job where I DON'T count down the hours. I get heated when I look at the clock by accident and it's way earlier than I expected.
You should be making bank with all them hours right??

Working 8-5 is not AS BAD for me because I tend to go on calls, attend offsite meetings, etc. Its just the satisfaction of not being stuck in the office all day. The only way for me to stay energized after work is to go to the gym. It gets so dark by 4:30pm that I barely want to go to the gym after work now  .

My schedule is pretty much 8am-5pm, gym by 6pm, get home from the gym at 7:30, eat and everything else follows. I go to bed pretty late at around midnight. That lives me more time to just enjoy being at home, socialize, etc. Being that my job is not a long commute away from home, I can sleep til about 7am and be ready by 7:30am. Takes about 20 minutes max to get to work if there is traffic.

I don't work a normal 9-5. I'm a delivery driver so my day starts at 4am and ends when my trailer is unloaded, and that can be anywhere from 10-14 hours a day. I don't mind the long hours and make good money, but sometimes I think about what else is out there... I enjoy being alone in the tractor and not confined to being a desk jockey. I like that every stop is a change of scenery, and love traveling the roads of the Bay Area. Great views up and down the coast

It doesn't suck if you love what you're doing, or making enough money to set you up to do what you love

Almost what I do, but I go interstate.
Started in LA on Sunday, now I'm in Indianapolis.

Won't retire a truck driver but I'm saving a whole lot of money, having fun, and seeing the United States :pimp:
