**Jay-Z ranks all his albums.....Vol. Where's AntiDope???**

AG has to have that fourth spot....in fact i would say its better than TBA on most days.

Vol 3 is the best of the volume series to me and deserves top 5 consideration.

Cant believe cats talking down on that album

I've said it before and I'll say it again for the hell of it

American Gangster > The Black Album

Contextually, for u cats that wasn't really there, some cats weren't 100% w RD. Vol. 1 changed alotta ****** minds.

John Cordero ‏@john_c305 13h
@Combat_Jack 96 was stacked (ironman, ATLiens, The Score, IWW) RD almost slipped thru the cracks

1. Blueprint -Greatest Album of ALL TIME

You need to get out more....

I try to explain this all the time to my brother and younger people. RD wasn't trash, but it it's not what it's made out to be NOW. It truly was one of those, "you had to be there" type of things. It's hard to put it in proper context if you weren't there understanding it all.

I agree with the assessment of RD. in all honesty I didnt really hear about jayz until vol. 1 because at that time it was sooooooo much good hip hop that alot of stuff got over looked. Also I was a bigger X fan at the time but RD is just his best work IMO.
RD
Vol.2
Black Album
American Gangster
Vol.3
Vol.1
BP3
KC
La Familia
BP2
In that order for me but I would love to see others do this.always makes you wonder what artist personally think..
And that low key Prince talk, lol
Now that's a whole another subject that would definately rustle MJ fans, lol

^ See, context. There was a lot out at the time and it just got pushed to the side a little.

BP2 The Curse is my stuff I would take a few tracks from The Gift like the intro and rank the album higher.

They put in they pocket, all you get in return is a lot of lip

and yall buy the ****, caught up in the hype

Cause the ***** wear a kufi, it dont mean that he bright

cause you dont understand him all the ******** that he write

is it "Oochie Wally Wally" or is it "One Mic"?

Is it "Black Girsl Lost" or shorty owe you for ice?

Ive been real all my life, they confuse it with conceit.

Well I cant control how old I am, so I dont think thats really valid. I've been listening to music for almost twenty years now, and thats all I have to go off. I dont think its fair to say that I cant form my own opinion of something because not enough time has passed.
Well from that standpoint it just sounds like your taste in music is young, immature, and not that experienced. Give it time for it to be properly seasoned and you'll either have a better informed opinion or change your mind.

This is the correct assessment of the BP2. Even when the BP2.1 was announced I expected it to be like 85% The Curse.

BP3 is terrible in my opinion. I haven't heard all these albums, but The Black Album and BP belong at the top

alright. because of this thread, I've been giving his albums a listen this weekend.

First off - RD is 1st and nothing comes close. damn near illmatic status. I'll never ever ever put Blueprint in that convo again.

2ndly, its ludicrous that Vol 1 & 3 receive this unconscionable amount of derision while Vol 2 is lauded. the latter is mehhhhhhhh minus those singles.

3rd: BP2 is as bad as KC. South France & some Houston P murked BP Jay. :smh:

I'm listening to MCHG for the first time right now & its a LOT better than I anticipated. my original list of Jay albums is officially in flux.

how this dude straight up jack MIA's flow on Tom Ford, though?

this FWITME beat :x :x :x

^ Part of Jay's charm is he's a thief, but he masks it as giving shout outs and paying homage to people. *shrugs*

I always argue RD taking away all the radio singles (which I all like). It is a classic, but I don't hold it in as high regard at the others. I do like D'evils and always have.

I actually tested my brother, I took The Score, It Was Written, Ironman, and Reasonable Doubt, wrote them on a sheet of paper and told him to rank all 4. I can't remember the order, but RD was 4. He had a hard time doing it, but he said he had to. I then told him they all came out in 96 (he was only 4). Then I asked him if he understood how I feel and he had no response

I didn't purposely leave ATLiens off on purpose, I just forgot the 5th album that was given

Ski beats is the reason Reasonable Doubt has aged so well over time but OB4CL is more of a predominant album from that era. Nobody was checking for Jay back then.

In terms of jay's career, actual singles and all around playability...

Vol. 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I agree. I wouldn't even say no one was checking for Jay back then, they were, but I think the better way to put it is like this, think about it in terms of it being a line. He was basically in the middle of the line, but that shows just how much better music was back then.

1) The Blueprint - Feel like this is near undeniable. Other than "J**** That *****", this was almost perfect. This is Jay in peak form (flow and voice wise). I grew to appreciate it more later on than when it originally came out (on the flipside, enjoyed Stillmatic from day one til now)

2) Reasonable Doubt - It has "Can I Live?", one of the smoothest, all out greatest beats I've ever heard. Nuff said.

3) American Gangster - Flawless minus "Blue Magic" and that song with that Lil' Loser on it. Reaffirmed why I was/am a Jay fan in the first place. Great production and precise lyrics overall

4) Hard Knock Life Vol. 2 - What I consider a "mainstream classic", and by that, I mean hits after hits after hits, and were legit good songs to match. "Coming of Age" & "Reservoir Dogs" >>>>

5) Blueprint 2 (Disc 2)- If only this was the entire album. Track after track was nothing but heat, and you wonder why there was even a need for the first disc. Oh yea, the charts. Man those singles were ***.

6) The Black Album - antidope antidope already knows how I feel about this album. I have it at #6 above some others more out of significance/impact more than the actual sound of it.

7) Dynasty Roc La Familia - A sort of departure production wise, but but some smooth and funky tracks throughout. 1-900-Hustler >>>>>>>

8 - ) Life & Times of S. Carter - Solid yet sort of forgotten album. Basically just an album with dope tracks and that's about it

9) Kingdom Come - Terrible first single, but as a whole the album was not nearly as bad as everyone thought at the time. Has some lukewarm stuff here and there, but "The Prelude" is one of my favorite intros ever (after "Stillmatic Intro" of course) and Dr. Dre laced him real nice.

10) Blueprint 3 - What I considered the 2009 version of 'Hard Knock Life Vol. 2', b-grade. Had a lot of hits like Vol. 2, but most paled in comparison to them. "Already Home" will forever be a real *** track though. This album was overall a letdown based on how great American Gangster was.

11) Magna Carta - This pretty much dropped out of nowhere, I had no expectations for it what-so ever, and was pleasantly surprised. It's forgettable, but still has a handful of nice cuts on it.

12) Blueprint 2 (Disc 1) - What a mess. I usually pretend like "Poppin Tags", "The Watcher", and "Hovi Baby" are on BP2 Disc 2 and make this one cease to exist.

13) In My Lifetime Vol. 1 - Sounds very dated, and has "Sunshine" on it. Nuff said.
