Open run at your gym. What are your in-house rules?

i prefer lists but i never see them anymore. all these kids wana run with "their guys" which is whack. put a team together, pitch in and enter a league of some sort if you have to run with your boys.

Talbert

-First game to 16, 12 after if people are waiting.
-Call your own fouls
-Shoot over a disputed call
-Win by 2
-Winner stays on

Half court game:

All shots are 1 point, game till 11, if tied at 10 must win by 2 points, call your own fouls(if you call a BS foul, you might be fouled hard the next play), winning team stays on court and who ever called next first, goes to play.

Full court:

Shots are 2 and 3 points, game till 21, if tied at 20 must win by 2 points, switch at 11 points and everything else is the same as above.

One place I play at does some weirder stuff...

Play to 11 straight up. 1s and 2s. Call you own fouls. Winning team starts with ball.

The weirder (though I like it) is if there are 16 or more people than it becomes

Winner: 2 on then off. Usually ends up being 2 on and then 2 off. Nice knowing you are playing 2 games every time you step on the court when there are so many people.

Anyone ever play in a gym where they make you do Shirts vs Skins?

I can only remember 3-4 times I've ever played that way. One time I remember particularly well--I was in high school and I had a 50 year old gym teacher/school's athletic director who happened to be a woman. She was this old-school womens basketball player and was supposed to be really good back in the day. I heard she went and played for USC with Cheryl Miller.

We were having a practice after school, because our coach was sick for the week and she filled in. She made half the guys take off their shirts and the other half wear their shirts. I was never instructed to do this ever in my life before, especially when I was in school. Looking back at it now, I'm not sure if she was a pedo or just really old-school

Only in HS cause dudes was trying to stunt for the females...

But I don't see that anymore.

Never in life heard of 3secs, shot clock or charging in pickup ball lol

Hood spot. 1st game to 11, rest to 9. Only gotta win by 2 if duece is called. All 1's. Call ur own fouls, but I usually say "and 1" unless its really bad then its " cmon man" everyone carries, no one calls it

Burbs spot. Games to 21, 2's and 3's. Guys give u fouls

i hate playin 1s and 2s because a three pt shot is worth twice as much as a normal shot. If we gonna play 3 pointers then we play 2s and 3s.

how some of yall games goin to 21 playing just 1s & 2s. Wont that take forever? Lol people at the courts I hoop at would get mad impatient.

We go 1s and 2s to 11. or 1's to 9. Straight up. No win by 2.

Hey, anyone else HATE 'make it, take it'?

Drives me bat**** crazy.

And spare me the nonsense about "Play D." I love playing D. When you score, the other team gets the ball. The end. I've been on teams where we've been on the good end of 'Make it, take it', scoring 6, 7, 8 in a row... and I'm thinking "This ain't basketball."

If a call is unsure, the person who challenges the rule will attempt a 3 pt shot (ball don't lie) to get possession.

First to 12 but sometimes its 16 if the gym ain't buzzin.

Out of bounds are at the sidelines.

All points equal to one point

No list, **** gets chaotic when people think they're up next but they get cutted.

Someone can just waltz in and get picked up though to a team thats in line or about to play.

Brings me back to my YMCA days. Old dudes being on the skin team :x makes me not want to play defense.

I used to play in the YMCA by my HS. They had this league that got together and played every Friday. There was some good competition around. They never made us play shirts vs. skins though. They would give us those cheap jerseys that looked like vests with a number on it.

I remember one game I had 24 points 7 assists and 4 rebounds :pimp:

This thread makes me sad, because it reminds me how long it's been since I've played basketball. I need join one those "young professionals" leagues where they have seasonal sports year round ie Zogg

Anyone have any experience with Zogg or something comparable in the NYC area?

Games up to 15.
2's and 1's.
Disputed calls = shoot for it.
Winner stays on.
Whoever called next can pick anyone up (usually people waiting get picked up)

Ya'll serious with these shot clocks and offensive fouls?

-1's and 2's to 15 straight up

-No offensive fouls

-Make sure if you're waiting to constantly reaffirm that "you got next" especially if it's busy or you Will get got
