You just woke up from fainting after hitting the $400M lottery. What do you do now?

I wouldn't tell anyone for a week. Just try my hardest to live life normal and view the world through the eyes of someone filthy rich. That way I can assess who is really of importance in my everyday life. After about a week I would just leave a note to loved ones and tell them that I'm going to Africa for a little while and leave them a couple mil, not telling them when I'll return. Once I finally return I'd buy a nice studio apartment somewhere in a major city with one nice super vehicle (Ferrari, Porche, Lamborghini ) and just randomly bless people throughout the world i.e. Leaving $10,000 tips or putting a deserving student through school entirely while investing the majority into businesses and stocks

I guess every single one of the thousands of people in the world worth over 200 million just lounge on the couch and watch TV all day...

Idk know what they do, but I'd imagine their mindset is much different than that of a lottery winner. It's one thing to work your way up to a fortune and it's another to have that fortune dropped in your lap.

It sounds nice to say, but I just don't buy it.

Some of you are a pity, truly, but it's your money.

Everything I have will go into a trust. Beneficiaries are immediate blood. IF any of my nieces/nephews WANT to go to college or the best schools, it's payed for.

Beyond that, to get any of my money you will work for it. Mom and pops already retired, but I'll let them live cushy anywhere they want. (Granted my fam has never had money, so I assume my mother wouldn't go crazy, all she need it 50k a year if that.)

Now, for my self.. I've traveled all of Europe and Norther Africa.

I'll purchase flat/apartments in my favorite places- Brooklyn/UWS NYC, Central London, 1-9th arrondissements in Paris, Budapest, Berlin, Rome, Riad in Marrakech Morroco.

Budapest would be my home base; it's cheap, its the greatest city I've ever stepped foot in, beautiful women, great food and atmosphere

From there, excursions, backpacking and seeing the rest of the world. May plop down a year or more in places I like the most.

3-4 months in South America

3-6 months in South East Asia

1 year in Australia

My Foundation will be catering to the Motherland, Africa so I'll always be in and out.

I've given up on materials, I live for experiences.. Now I do love fast cars just as much as the next man, but that isssh really means nothing to me.

When it's all said and done, I'll "retire" to the cheapest, most stable country with the best; cuisine, women and weather year-round.. Probably Argentina.

You'll be broke in 7 yrs. Your parents would black out with the money

Break that down for me, sir.

5-6 apartments, rent them when I'm not present. I said BACKPACK, not 5 Star it up around the world. That means hostels, couchsurfing and loads of beer money. Some of the most expensive excursions in the world Galapagos, Everest, Antarctica aren't out of reach for 1%'ers so why would it be for me?

My money would be in Switzerland and the Cayman's collecting more interest than your Grandmas CD.. No worries.

In this exact order.

1) Pay off all my immediately family and best friends' debts.
2) Set my finances to begin earning for me as well as locking away a substantial portion of the money for retirement and future generations.
3) Leave the country and travel the world for 1-2 years. This serves two purposes: One, cause I want to see the world. Two, because I want to be forgotten by all the people who don't matter that will think I should help them financially.
4) On my return (if I even choose to return) I'd buy a nice house, in a nice middle class neighborhood, and live quietly and comfortably with my family. Very few extravagances.
this.

Pay off all debt
Move to California or Oregon
Start a medical marijuana farm
Profit

Stash it in a safe or two or three, and just live life. I'm not interested in luxury or anything real expensive, so I'll buy a decent car, and some clothes.

Put a deposit down for the new M4...

 screw that...i'd buy out my job so I can be the boss and order everyone around while not lifting a finger. :smokin

1. Find out how much I have after taxes+fees

2. Pay off parents' debt and mortgage

3. Buy my parents a nicer house in a nicer area

4. Buy real estate for myself

5. Go on a vacation

6. Start my own fund and make the money grow

Honestly, my life wouldn't change so much.
THAT humblebrag

everyone keeps on saying theyd go for a lawyer. why is that the first thing u want? planning on getting sued?
