POST YOUR UNPOPULAR SNEAKER OPINIONS

I thought shoe threads were heavily trolled in General? Meh, whatever.

-The Yeezy's don't deserve all the hate they get. People consider them "hypebeast shoes" just because of the dude they're connected to, when objectively, they're a pretty cool pair of sneakers. I'm no Kanye stan, either, I just like the way they look.

-CRAZY to me how Olive IX's are considered people's grails now. You couldn't give them away in 2002.

-Nike running>>>>>Nike basketball/Jordan, for casual wear. I'd much rather be in a pair of AM97's than some chunky Jordan XII's if I'm wearing jeans (I love the XII's, though, don't get me wrong).

-The term "shoe game" or "sneaker game" is INCREDIBLY corny to me. It's probably because I'm getting older, but all the effort put into this hobby just seems silly to me now. I saw a bunch of people lined up for the Taxis in freezing weather this past weekend, and all I could do was :smh:. No shoe is worth hypothermia.

-The first Iversons are the only Reeboks I'd consider wearing.

-Despite the hype with certain colorways, the Roshe Run is one of the dopest shoes Nike has released in year.

-The Nike ACG line is criminally underrated.

  • The 2010 Concord release is the reason why things are as bad as they are now. Once we let the media in outside of people getting killed over kicks and introduced it to them as a culture, they took it and ran with it. Now coping kicks is like Black Friday; people who used to do Black Friday with a purpose is now turned off by the media induced fools who come out just to be in the mix. The same is now for kicks.
I disagree with this to an extent. The re-release sent it into overdrive, but the hype train was already gone at this point. It's easy to point to that date, but it was already bad.

The Jordan Sig's are works of art.

What Tinker/team (even Peter Moore/team) did with sneakers is amazing...

The fact that tinker didnt use the Nike symbol as a focus point is something that shoe companies have never been able to get down correctly

You might say they dont because it makes no sense to not promote your image, but even high fashion shoes that use "design" have not mastered it like tinker did
Probably because he's considered himself anti corporate

the fact that midsoles/parts of jordans continue to live on through Nike shoes speaks of the great design behind the Jordans

Nike should try to perfect the og molds, make the shoes and put make an official art museum

In short jordans 1-14 are just sheer stupidity ( in a good way )

how is any of this an unpopular opinion?

people say they're just sneakers

kanye shrug

lol @ doing a kanye shrug to the point of people saying jordans are just sneakers at the same time kanye claims to be the reason jordans are so hyped/sought after/mainstream.

My bad, I had to do a quick fact check. The Concords were in 2011 :D

The Spacejam release is what made it the hardest to get J's now. Before that release everybody had a hard on for AF1's and SB's. Thats what made people transition too the jordans. The Concords just put it on another level.

people complaining about qaulity before the shoe comes out are lame.

flyknit's should go for roshe prices cause no matter what its still a shoe made out of yarn.

it boggles my mind how somepeople keep a shoe DS for years at a time. 3lab5's were wack  & these were the sleeper shoe of the year

naw after 07 and the 25th anniversary everybody was af1 tapped out and people had already started to transition to other stuff
sb's were still selling
i honestly think it was the cdp pack that made everything difficult
after that EVERYTHING took off from there
i think there were VERY few other retros that year besides packs
yeah a good amount of packs sat
but the 6/17, 7/16, 13/10, 12,11 pack kinda upped the anty
also the 7/16 pack was the best pack out them
quality and execution was on point

People who complain about the quality are just pathetic. If its a drastic change like the material on the Vs or the blue soles, thats understandable. When you start nitpicking the stitching on the jumpman, you are just lame.

and

I hate the people who always wanna mention said retro isn't as good as the OG pair or the last retro.

"I'll just stick with my '05 pair"

****

Yeah I agree with you on the *****ing about the quality. But the only thing quality wise that i'm concerned about is paint cracking/chipping. That should never ever ever happen after a few wears

i cant agree with that
especially if u compare a early 90's pair of GR AF1's to one from the present
the quality is like night and day

Yes, Olive IXs are ugly. They were ugly to me in 94, they were ugly to me in 2002, they were ugly to me in 2012. No amount of hype can make me like them.

Space Jam hype > Concord hype.

If I see you on the basketball court wearing Jordans, I automatically assume you can't play.

Don't care about sneakers anymore. Lost all my interest with all the hype around it, RSVP system, etc...

Can't even walk into the store anymore to buy my fav kicks.
