"Takeover" (facts) > "Ether" (fiction). Everything Hov said about Nas was true. All that taebo *** and whiskers like a rat crap Nas could have kept. Neither one of these diss records is better than "No Vaseline" or "Real Mutha****** G'z" though.

Wayne is arguably the wittiest rapper ever, 2chainz whole style is prime wayne, hes just a homeless version when it comes to witty bars

Wayne is pretty much the black Eminem. They're both washed now but the fan base is there for them to go plat in week continuously. Nothing you can do about it.

That's another thing, I don't think anyone's skills diminish in rap music.

I honestly feel that we as listeners evolve with the sound of the times and we are constantly changing what we deem is "good." Therefore, when we hear an artist who we felt was great years ago spit what he was spitting years ago, we say "He's loosing his touch" or "he isn't what he used to be when in actuality, he's the exact same artist musically, its just that the music culture has evolved and changed and we no longer find that brand of music good/noteworthy. We then play their old music and say "See, he isn't like this anymore" when over half the time its pure nostalgia that's clouding our judgement and lyrically, it's almost the same thing.

I feel that this is the case with so many artist that rap heads say have "lost it" like Lil Wayne, or Jay Z.
As far as Wayne goes, he just lost it. People always talk about the Carter 2 and Drought 3, but nah his best material was his Sqad Up days up to the Carter 1. He started going downhill after that.
talent wise i agree that people dont lose it unless its something drug related and their minds truly cant function anymore. with wayne and jay they just dont put in the work like they used to on their older projects, once you already have millions and you know that you can throw a bunch of words together to go platinum theres no real motivation to grind

Listen to carter 2, drought 3, squad up, listen to those tapes. Even the dedication series. These are praised by many to be wayne's best work. Listen to them, the content is no different than what is on The Carter IV, or Carter V, or Dedication 3, 4, 5, etc. It's all relatively the same content wise. He's talking about the same things.

Yeah he's still talking about the same stuff, but the lyrics are dumbed down. He relies on goofy *** metaphors now and just sounds lazy. He was way more clever then compared to know.

Man rappers don't just lose it to me  this isn't athletics where the body can be damaged due to wear, tear, and age.

The only thing that changes is the musical climate that these rappers exist in.

Per example: Take lil wayne. He did not lose anything. The answer to Wayne's "Struggles" is simply the fact that when he was hot, the focus in rap music was outlandi*****, cleverly stupid punchlines, with no real structure. The punchlines were hot and wayne was the king of those.

Now? The focus isn't really on punchlines but more on coherent verses, melody, ear pleasing sonics, songwriting, etc. thanks in large part to Cole, Kendrick, Drake, Wale, and others. That pure 100% no coherence punchline rap just doesn't fit with what people deem as hot anymore.

That's how I always looked at it. Takeover was Jay spitting real ****, while Ether sounded like petty hating. Ether isn't bad by any means but that's why I prefer Takeover over Ether and LL's diss over Canibus'

Hurts my heart juelz never took advantage of anything
He coulda been what Wayne was :smh:

 Son had back to the crib & homerun & was featured on beamer benz & bentley, 2010 was looking good for him, but if you cant drop with cb & wayne on your singles then your career finished

Rappers might not lose their "skills" but they do get lazy/comfortable and their quality of music is representative of that

Look at 2010 Wiz compared to now

Go point out three things right now.

Cant just call me a troll just because I'm not one of the zombies. Anyone under 45 thinks Michaels Jacksons music is good partly because thats what they feel what they have to say to have their opinions be validated. Look at you guys and how you reacted to me when I said he sucks. But in the back of your minds you know his music is bad, and I hope you guys find the courage to admit it one day.

This man was a vocal beast, idc if he hated him self, idc what he may have done in his personal life.

Name one person out right now who can do that. ill wait.

"old people music"

You better be trolling, because the way you are rustling my jimmes with your RnB slander is too much.

You gotta buy me a ring if you wanna rustle my jimmies like that, at least a #1 at Mickeys D's.

Next you are going to say whitney isnt that great smh

Nah Wayne just definitely lost it. He's gotten lazy. I wish I could believe that he purposely dumb downed his music to cater to a bigger audience but I can't.

Compare Go DJ to Lollipop and you can just listen to the difference in what he's made to what he's making. I just think longevity is a issue for most rappers.

Of course longevity is an issue because they arent talkingabout nothing to begin with.
They been talkin about the same three or four subjects over and over since the mid 90s.

Its only so long that you can talk about nothing and keep people listening.

And as far as Jay-Z being the best musician ever. He aint even better than his female.
She is miles ahead of Jay-Z musically in every way except rapping.

Jay-z's number one song, that stayed at the top of the Billboard charts for the longest was Beyonce's song. "Crazy in Love"
That should tell you something right there.

Listen to the content on Go DJ and then listen to the Carter 3 album. You cannot tell me that the content isn't almost exactly the same  he's literally talking about the same things in the same way.

His stuff these past few years are almost verbatim what he's been doing his entire career. Listen to what he's saying and how he's saying it. There's nothing really different. So what gives? It's the climate man, that's all it is. People grow up, people mature as far as what they deem is good music to them, and wayne's music just doesn't resonate with the people anymore.

The content doesnt matter, I'm talking about quality. He's definitely got lazy.

MJ best songs were his non single songs

forgot about miguel...and don't think I've heard luke james before

Luke James is the truth, YouTube that.

Yup I agree, that too. Whenever skin color gets talked about, it's always the dark skin people that start it it seems.

Well not always, but from what i've seen and gathered it tends to be that way.

Debates maybe, insults naw. Some lightskin people like to call people black as if it is a insult.
As for dark women I don't believe that, I remember there was a big gontreversy because some Lightskin chick on basketball wives said "wit yo black ***" to a darker skin wife. I personally see light females throw insults skin tone insults more often.

The way you both are talking you would think we were enemies
