There's just so many all black shoes.
The grey with the white sole really sets these apart, mainly cause of the crazy turtledove pattern which isn't really that visible on the blacks.

Like I said, too many other all black shoes with similar silhouettes. The turtle dove pattern on the greys is what makes the shoe

The black pair just isn't as visually appealing as the grey pair. If you've got 2 colorways of the same shoe but one colorway is more desirable to the masses that pair will almost always have the higher resale value.
Solar and Platinum Y2s are a perfect example.
