I always plan in advance. I have to. Have to apply for vacation on time to make it possible to camp out 5 days in a row. I never striked out when I camped for a shoe. I striked out getting my size but for some shoes getting any size is worth it, can always sizeswap later the good old fashioned way. People who join the camp 2 nights or 1 night before the release strike out. I start early enough

Camping out actually can be fun if some cool fellow campers / supporters are around. Its a part of the sneakerculture here and many people already know each other. I remember the campout for the 750s in march though where I froze my a** off this wasnt fun at all...

You take vacation days to sleep outside for sneakers? Wow.

If the shoe is worth it? Yes sir!

Lmao, no shoe is worth it... Ever. It's just a shoe, some cheap material, glue and rubber sold at an inflated price. My time and dignity will always be worth more than "camping" for the chance to spend my money.

Y'all crazy.

Cant compete with this new culture! In fact, i don't even want to compete against this. Ya'll can have them!

Shoes are never that important. Unless you don't have a job and are planning to resell them since your broke.

But whatever floats your boat.

If I'm camping (which I don't) and I camp for 5 days, I'm not going to go and sell the shoe in the next few weeks for a profit that doesn't seem to worth my camp (in your case). I could've made that 1k profit elsewhere doing less work and far significantly less time. But I'm glad it was worth it to you.

To each his own. It would be funny if someone ask what my plan was this year for vacation and I said I'm using it for a 5 day sneaker camp out. Time is money in my line of work and I would lose thousands in that period so I would personally pay resale. I would pay 1k easy before I did a camp out. But not knocking anyone for it.

I would camp out on a Friday night though after work or maybe getting to a spot around 1-3 in the morning on a Saturday but it would have to be for a pretty limited pair of kicks that I knew 100% that I couldn't win a raffle or cop online. But 1 night would probably be a strike out. Or paying someone who didn't have a lot of money to camp for me and I show up that next morning.

Isn't it more about the experience too though, I'm neutral on it but some companies DO pay for employee time off, however it's spent is up to the employee...the principle of staying out 5 days for shoes, whatever, some people make less in 5 days than what they would spend on resell.

I wouldn't even sleep in my car for 5 days, and its brand new. When it gets to that point, i just move on.

I guess if you're single with no kids... even then I'm sure there is better ways to spend your time than waiting in line for days so you can spend your money on a shoe. I have done it once, and it was only over night, but I would do that never again. Time is something you can never get back. That is why if I strike out on a shoe without going through all the hoops, I just pay resell.... Money I can always recoup.

In L.A., you have families, girlfriends, wives, etc...camping...I feel bad for this planet.

camping was fun when i was 18-24.. no kids, no career, no bills... ZERO worries!!!  even in those days campouts were never more than 12 hours give or take... now at an advanced age, with bills, children and just life's reponsibilities . the loss of pay for  5 days of work, for a sneaker is absolutely asinine in my case.. i'd happily pay resale before  camping out more then a night

What exactly is this "experience"?

I once waited in line for 3hrs for supreme Blazers back in the day and felt pretty pathetic about it afterward.

In germany every company pays you as an employee while on vacation. Its normal here. And the sbbs released on the same day so I was camping out for 2 shoes. So yes it was really worth it.

i need to relocate to germany!!..

but i get you're point.. camping was cool

I only camped out for video game releases back in the day but that was only for 3 hours max. Talking about the game and getting hyped with everyone was awesome.

I recently waited for a Jordan release but it was only for about 5 hours and it blew. Everyone there was my age group (18-24) but no one communicated with each other. Everyone just sat with their headphones and phones in silence, it was the longest wait ever.

Then when the line finally opened, some of these dudes moms came out of their vehicles to jump in line and pay for the Jordan's.
After the whole experience I felt childish and lame for even participating in the camp.

Right? I once stood in line for about the same time but did not tell a person I know about it. This is the first time I'm admitting openly to standing in line for 3 hours.

So wait, some of you guys take time out to camp but don't get paid for the time off?

Thats even worst! I was thinking you guys were using vacation days, so essentially wasting valuable paid time off to camp for shoes.

I get 5 weeks paid time off and I still wouldn't even use it. Paid time off is valuable to me.

People who not camp over here need to fight against the bots (99% strike out) while trying to cop online. Or need to pay resale prices. Simple like that. And everybody over here gets paid time off by the law. I didnt know it is different in the USA.
