This. Only ever used the report button once or twice, and it was a spam account promoting fake sneaker sites.

There's a big difference between the rationale for "real world" refusal to help convert your peers into grist for the prison industrial complex and the refusal to help remove unwanted material from an Internet forum you frequent.

If someone takes a dump on your living room floor, are you just gonna sit there, breathe it in, and say, "nah, I ain't a snitch.  He left it there and it's gonna stay there.  I'm just gonna let it rock.  Doesn't rustle my jimmies."  Grow up.  Trolls and spammers aren't a legitimate part of the community.  They aren't "in this with you."  They play you guys for chumps and you let them.

"taken care of by mods anyway" is usually due to somebody reporting that post and flaming the poster just leads to more dudes getting banned/suspended. Yall forgot about all of those threads Meth use to lock and he'd be the last post with a list of ppl who got banned/suspended for the flame wars? I know may have seemed the way you think it is when you first got here but it isn't that simple and doesn't really help.

At the end of the day, all you have to do is click an 'x' in the top corner, or close your macbook screen. I don't think it should ever get that serious. If it ever is that serious, you should have never put yourself in that vulnerable of a postion to begin with.
