OFFICIAL 2014 MIAMI DOLPHINS SEASON THREAD (8-8) : MAYBE NEXT YEAR SMH

Ross is far from Huizenga and that's not saying much either, but at least he's trying to build a winner & is opening his wallet to do so. Wayne never really did that. Look what he did with the Marlins after their World Series win? Fire sale. Ross is in over his head, but he has people around him that can give him sound advice. Hell he has Tony Dungy & Don Shula as part of one of his councils. He obviously doesn't know the football part of the business, only the business end. He needs to employ sound football minds that can make sure things are ran how they need to be. The sad thing is we may lose out on a lot of potential coaching candidates again if Ross doesn't clean house completely, rather than partially.

The O-Line is terrible, and that needs to be addressed big time. Glad we didn't re-sign Long because look what happened to him in STL. Another season ended on the IR. Ellerbe played better than Wheeler, but look at what Dansby did after being released... Was either one of them really an upgrade over him? No. That needs to be addressed as well. I'm hoping Grimes gets re-signed because dude is a stud. We haven't had a good DB like that since Pat Surtain & Sam Madison!

My thing is why extend Ireland? What warranted that reward? Makes 0 sense. Loyal to Philbin for what? What has he done besides read index cards post game? Ross is not making sound decisions, and if Dungy and Shula are advising these choices, they're over the hill too. This isn't even bringing up foolishness like pursuing Harbaugh while Sparano is under contract, and then extending him when he failed.

Just noticed I left Ireland out of that post. He deserves to be gone too, no ifs ands or buts! He is ones of the big reasons big name coaches did not want to come to Miami! Fire them all & allow the new HC to choose his own staff & GM

I really couldn't express how happy I would be if this were to happen.... like always, especially with Miami it's a huge IF and most likely for the Dolphins impossible.

With Albert, Pouncey and Alex Mack, Miami's left side and interior becomes that much tougher to penetrate. The Dolphins could then use their first-round pick to chose the best player available (which Matt Miller claims will be tight end Eric Ebron), then in the second round they can draft Michigan's Taylor Lewan to play right tackle while now-second year player Dallas Thomas can replace John Jerry at guard.

Or Miami could go guard in Round 2 (Cyril Richardson of Baylor is mocked in Round 2 and would be my choice), then tackle in Round 3 (North Carolina's James Hurst would fit this system very well).

@MiamiDolphins: Head Coach Joe Philbin has announced that offensive coordinator Mike Sherman has been relieved of his duties.

He just wasn't getting the job done. Plain and simple.

Who do you want to see?

I'd like to see Chud come on back to Miami.

It's a start, but it's still just patching holes.

In order to be truly right, you either tear it all down and start fresh (GM, HC, OC, DC) or you keep the same group.

Getting a new OC helps a little, but if Ireland and Philbin aren't still on the same page, what're we really fixin?

Still, at least now we can get an OC in that might be able to help use Tannehill/Wallace/Miller properly. :pimp:

What about the QB and OL coach? Sherman fired doesn't do a damn thing if farmer Joe Philbin is back in the saddle. He did this to save his ****, nothing more. He disagrees with Jeff on personnel and utilization of players in this system, this will continue spiraling downward until this idiot Ears the owner gets a clue and stops trying to plug dam leaks with bubble yum.

Goodbye Jeff Ireland...

If Ireland goes, I don't really understand keeping Philbin.

FINALLY!

@AdamSchefter: And @mortreport reports, Miami Dolphins have hired Eagles quarterback coach Bill Lazor as their new offensive coordinator.

Interesting hire, I thought it was gonna be Kubiak. Hope he can improve the QB like he did with Foles.
