OFFICIAL 2014 MIAMI DOLPHINS SEASON THREAD (8-8) : MAYBE NEXT YEAR SMH

Mike Wallace

"Our offense was (expletive)," Wallace said of Miami's Sunday performance. When asked if he was encouraged by his 50-yard reception against the Jaguars, Wallace said that he was not. "That’s what I do. I’m built for that. I’m not really excited about it." Asked specifically if he was upset by the Dolphins' lack of deep balls, Wallace responded "I run the plays they call." Wallace is again being under-utilized, but this year it's more because of Ryan Tannehill's disastrous downfield accuracy than Miami's play-calling. The good news is that Wallace has scored in 5-of-7 games.

He's not lying. He really should be given more screens and such since Tannehill misses the deep pass so often. Don't know why he doesn't understand he doesn't need to bullet a 50 yards pass... rainbow and let Wallace run under...

The big thing about Mike, he looks for the call more so than going to get the ball. And if someone has better position he doesn't fight for the ball or to save the QB.

Give and Take.

Right. Screens would be optimal given his ability for YAC. Otherwise I'd say let's call a play action, 1 on 1 deep ball for Mike every game.

Mike probably can't wait to get out of Miami. If he played on the Broncos or Pats he'd have elite numbers.

I was thinking 4-3 at this point through seven games. The Buffalo or Kansas City losses being the difference in what I expected to be a 5-2 start.

Jarvis Landry with 3 or more catches in every game he's been targeted (six games).

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill is getting some tutoring from the greatest quarterback in franchise history.

Tannehill said today that Dan Marino has been studying film with him, giving him pointers and generally acting as a sounding board.

“Dan has been great,” Tannehill said. “He’s been around a lot as of recent. Watched tape with him. He’s been in the QB room. He’s a great resource to have around, just his knowledge of the game [and] obviously the success that he had during his career.”

Last month Marino said he was working with the Dolphins only in a community relations role and wasn’t coaching Tannehill, and Marino took issue with a report that he was evaluating both Tannehill and head coach Joe Philbin at the behest of Dolphins owner Stephen Ross. But Tannehill now says Marino is giving him tips for how to play the quarterback position.

“It’s cool,” Tannehill said. “I appreciate the knowledge he has of the game, just little insights that he can point out and just him being around showing that he cares, it’s nice. He’s always just pointing out little things on tape, whether it’s a receiver’s routes or something I’m doing. He’s good at picking up little things and passing them along.”

It’s a little odd that Marino is watching tape with Tannehill, given that Marino has no role on the coaching staff and previously insisted that he wasn’t involved in a coaching capacity. But few people have ever played the quarterback position any better than Marino. If Tannehill thinks Marino’s presence is helping him, that’s good for the Dolphins.

Maybe now people will understand why I'm going psychotic over this franchise sticking with mops at QB.

Williams made his comments on Ricky Williams: A Football Life, which premieres at 9 p.m. Friday on NFL Network.
Williams referred to the 2002 season, when he ran 383 times for 1,853 yards, and 2003, when he carried 392 times for 1,372 yards, as a burden that wore on him.
“I led the NFL in attempts the past two years and they really didn’t go out and get a quarterback to help me, so I knew it’s going to be all on me again,” Williams said. “I could see my mortality as a football player, that I’m not going to be able to do this much longer. It just became obvious to me that playing football for me is not going to be fun, not something I’m going to enjoy and it’s time for me to do something different.”
A.J. Feeley started eight games for Miami that year, compiling a poor 61.7 quarterback rating. Jay Fiedler started seven games, with a 67.1 rating, and Sage Rosenfels started once.

Williams is the second ex-Dolphin in the past couple of weeks to criticize the team’s post-Dan Marino quarterbacking situation. Bears receiver Brandon Marshall said his time in Miami might have been different if someone better than Chad Henne had been throwing him the ball.

Next it'll be Wallace looking back at his time on this team with a mop who can't connect on deep passes to the fastest guy in football

imo

Just read philbins dad past away yesterday?

If true hopefully the team rally behinds him and gets a W.

Other than the PI call, damn good opening drive by the offense! No reason they annot keep that up. Keep feeding Miller.

Love the fight they are showing. Go for the kill!

That throw to Wallace for 30+ between two was :nthat:

That throw to Wallace for 30+ between two was :nthat:
Yup it was. But now our drive is about to stall because we thrown a screen to Thomas in open space and he does nothing. Then hand it to him and he runs into a wall. And it stalls and we settle for another field goal.

Again the stupid decision to put Daniel Thomas in over Lamar Miller.......... :smh:

I just don't get it. How does Williams make the team over Thomas but when we Moreno gets hurt we go and sign Thomas from free agency and he gets snaps over Williams? What does this guy do to deserve more snaps then him. His been getting more then miller this 2nd quarter. Makes no sense

They have to bring in someone to challenge Sturgis man. After all the work to get there in 1 minute, the Pouncey save, and to come away with nothing before the half. Unacceptable.

Keep the pressure up... For F-cks Sake do NOT take pressure off the pedal...

Mike Wallace has ZERO room to cry about anything. Drops on Drops. Should of caught another Touchdown.
