Will kill the young boy on premium gas. Maybe a tsx. Really cop an early 2000s Accord and have of that cash left over to pocket. Pay attention to the history and condition more so than mileage on those.

I've got a tl and its great on gas yea you gotta buy the good **** but its not a problem

Anyone drive a VW?

2006 VW Passat 2.0T - $7200. With 83k miles..

Opinions?
Go ahead, youre looking for different options other than the ol boring Accord/Camry/Altima thing, but the ol boring Accord/Camry/Altima's are the cars that are going to last you the longest and will be the cheapest to maintain.

The newest accord you can afford is probably your best bet. All the ppl I know that own them spend very little on maintenance and they last forever

I've been looking online for a week and have yet to find low mileage and price combo

Dude says low cylinder engine, people suggest a fox body.
Dude says low maintenance, people suggest a corvette.
Dude says low gas consumption, people suggest a dodge ram.

Bunch of scumbag steves in here.

C5 Vettes are unbelievably reliable and low on maintenance though. There are numerous examples all original with 300k+ miles.

Insurance and gas costs are another story though

2006-07 monte carlo SS. Seen one on CL for 9 racks at 80000..
Probably swoop it up for 1-2K lower

These are sweet cars but the transmissions were originally developed for a v6 and the 5.3 tears them up like crazy.

The older 3800 V6 Monte's are reliable as hell though. Same goes for the Buicks and Impalas with that engine. The 3800 powered Pontiacs are good too, but they have alot more electrical features to go wrong.

OP, from what your telling us is seems like a smaller 4cyl car is probably ideal. Assuming youre in the US, heres a pretty decent list of the pros and cons of alot of vehicles youll find on the market in your price range.

What? Accords and Camrys are EVERYWHERE.

2007-09 Camry with under 90k miles I cannot find for less than $11,000
2008-09 accord with under 90k miles I cannot find for less than $11,000 as well..

Right now I have the $7k, a week from now I'll be at $8,500..... By march 1st I'll have $11,500

Was also thinking about a 2012 chevy sonic ltz that I saw for $10,500 with 40k miles...

I think the Camry and accord are good ideas but they are pretty expensive right now... Everyone saying there is a ton out there at good prices... COuld you send the Craigslist link? I am in the Midwest and see nothing of a good deal on these models.

I also want to purchase from a private seller not a dealer to save money.

2000 GS still going strong for me and I'm good til 2020 might hit a million miles before I give her up. :pimp:

Not my car but similack without wheels and we're identical. I believe those are the 430 tail lights which I do have as well. Don't need rims I kept da stock joints

What kid of car is this?

Definitely a Civic. You can find one that has been in an accident with low miles and relatively new. In 2005 I bought a 2002 Civic with 30k miles for $5,000. Had some minor front end frame damage but held up to 160k. (Someone else clipped me and totaled the car). Ended up with $6,000 and bought another 2002 for ~$5,000 with 60k miles. Still driving it.

Short story: Get a Civic... They last and hold their value. Maintenance is cheap as are aftermarket parts..

Went to go see a 08 civic with 25 k miles for $8,500 ... Left after he said it was a rebuilt title and the car hit a guard rail and flipped twice... But it's all repaired and safe now...
Mannnnnn I can't mess with a whip that done flipped twice.... That's like a shorty who ran through a couple teams -

Yeah.... cars that have been in a bad wreck are a no go IMO. In the event of a collision you dont want to be in a car thats already been stressed and might be weakened, especially with an aluminum framed car like a Honda.

2006-2010 Eclipse

With 40-80k on it.

Great gas mileage, the model has reviewed pretty well.
