They really did so little promotion for it though, I'm not shocked. Add in the undercard being so ******.

Rican vs Cuban would sell well IMO

Have the fight take place in Florida.

What's wrong with Florida? >D

Cotto martinez a flop. Only 350K buys

Sheeeeeeeeeeeesh! I expected at least 500K minimum.

I honestly believe duBoef and company were emboldened enough to believe the fight would sell itself. PR Day weekend, high-profile bout in the first-half of 2014, Cotto's name recognition at MSG, the Puerto Rico/Argentina rivalry.

Not to mention the Puerto Rican prospects they hyped on the undercard did not deliver, sans Verdejo who is fighting again in PR in August.

Cotto / Trout rematch?

Trout is with Haymon, and he would probably beat Cotto 10 times out of 10.

I dunno about that one. Trout's been smashed on his past two fights, quite the opposite of cotto's last outings
I'd tend to agree with freaky but there is some lingering doubt. No problem with the Canelo loss, very competitive. Watching live, Trout looked perplexed and lost against Lara. Like he had no answers or desire. His confidence seems badly shaken. Plus the long layoff having not fought since December at Barclays. Ring rust may become a factor. This isn't the same No Doubt that beat Cotto in 2012. I still have faith but only time will tell if he's lost his appetite for fighting.

Didn't know Lamont Peterson still had a belt.

Going to have to look up DSG's opponent

There has been so many fights in NY since Barclays Center has been built.

Anybody know why there wasn't as many boxing events in NYC before it was built?

Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson both fighting tomato cans on the same card. Sure makes a lot of sense. :rolleyes
Peterson wants no parts of Machine after AC massacre. And Haymon doesn't want to risk DSG against Matthysse, Herrera in rematches or even Postol who I think Swift would defeat comfortably and convincingly.

Slightly disappointed Porter/Brook is likely moved to another date and venue. I'll be there August 9th regardless as an early birthday present to myself. Porter's pops still thinks Brook's camp will find a way to pullout like the Alexander negotiations.

It's something like the fourth or fifth PPV so far this year. I truly hope duBoef did not have that state of mind. If the crappy promotional tour hurt PBF's PPV's earlier in the year, what would make him think Cotto was immune to that.

Freaky, they're setting it up for a unification fight between the two of them in the winter or first Q next year.

Whether the mandatory fight between welterweight titlist Shawn Porter and England's Kell Brook takes place or not, it won't be on Aug. 9, as originally planned.

That was the date that Golden Boy, representing Porter, and Brook promoter Eddie Hearn settled on as they made a deal for the fight and avoided a purse bid.

However, both sides told ESPN.com over the weekend that the fight likely will be moved to another date while Golden Boy will still go ahead with an Aug. 9 Showtime card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Topping the show will be junior welterweight champ Danny Garcia (28-0, 16 KOs) with junior welterweight titlist Lamont Peterson (32-2-1, 16 KOs) defending on the undercard.

Neither has an opponent yet, but Golden Boy's intention, if they both win, is to match them later in the year to unify their titles. That means Garcia, who talked about a move to welterweight following his tough decision win against Mauricio Herrera on March 15, probably will remain at 140 pounds for at least two more fights before moving up next year.

Also on the card, Brooklyn's own Daniel Jacobs (27-1, 24 KOs) will face Australia's Jarrod Fletcher (18-1, 10 KOs) for a secondary middleweight belt; Gennady Golovkin has the same organization's main title.

Peterson won the IBF Light Welterweight strap off Dierry Jean in January, albeit in DC. At the Armory. Khan weeps somewhere in the UK. Quite impressively, I might add was Peterson's performance in a pick 'em fight for many.

NYC the Mecca of Boxing, brotha. In all seriousness, I love it. Great opportunities for tri-state boxing fans.

DSG taking the safe route with that guy

Dude has the same amount of knockouts as he does losses :smh:

19 W 3 KOs 3 L

DSG better not be allowing complacency in his camp. At least give us Postol if not the rematches with Machine or Herrera. Most of us believe Swift lost his last fight anyway. Garcia was hungry and motivated to prove doubters wrong against Matthysse. And for the sake of hyperbole, his camp was begging for the opportunity in the Amir Khan fight. Don't turtle up and get conservative on the boxing world now. Fight the best.

What are they gonna be fighting at? Unless there's another Rod Salka, looks like he's a lightweight, shouldn't DSG be fighting at middleweight soon?
140 for DSG's belts. Garcia is planning a move to 147 next year. The earlier rumor was a bout with Peterson for unification purposes, hence why freaky is likely disappointed with Salka. As are most of us.

After Danny's last fight (which I thought there was no doubt he lost) he needs a tune up.

I give him a pass on this fight but his next has to be legit competition.

Swift taking another tune up fight...after a tune up fight.

A unification bout with Peterson is not something that needs to marinate, it practically sells itself.

Danny Garcia and his dad are dumb for prolonging his interest to fight Floyd Mayweather. It was only a matter of time before someone decent exposes him. He would need 5 fights to equate what he makes in one against Floyd.

Oh, I thought he'd be doing 147 this year. Thanks for the info.
