How has Russell Wilson managed to stay above the criticism aimed at black QBs?

Russell Wilson is a flawless QB. He is more pristine than their White QB and they know it lol. Black QB's get accused of running too much and not being able to make reads, but Russell does both. He has the cerebral part down. All those other QB's have a flaw in their game that the White media love to attribute to Blackness. The character issues are just icing on the cake.

Going back to the original question, what are these qb's going through. I think black quarterbacks are being embraced in the NFL, heck set aside his issues on and off field this year RG III had every endorsement under the sun. Kaep is doing McDonalds commercials which run all the time & Cam has UA and something else I believe. Basically what I am getting at is these players are used as the face of the NFL, in the past how many football players had soo much facetime? Let alone qb's? Sure I'm sure there have been comments made whether its tattoos or someone being corny, but along with the fame when hasn't there been criticism? You have white qb's like TEBOW,Brady, Romo, Cutler etc. who go through things similar to the original guys listed.

nah. If Cam got in a refs face like Brady does. Flags would fly. Fines would be coming in. ESPN would call him a thug

I don't think most people know he's black. That's the main reason why he doesn't get any of the BS but he also hasn't brought anything on himself.

Probably because the guy is winning.  The criticism of Newton seems like it has gone down as the Panthers wins have gone up and Newton's part in that has been huge.  If the Seahawks where struggling and Wilson was playing poorly, you can bet he'd be talked about.

Being in Seattle helps too, they don't have quite the market that other cities have.

What a crazy value he has been for Seattle.  His dollars are going Willie Beaman status when he's a free agent.

Even though I don't think the topic of conversation was who gets flags thrown. Deadset is right, its not a black white thing with flags, its certain staple/tenured players that have certain privileges. For example Brady or Peyton get a lot more favoritism than say Cutler or Flacco. Plus Cam could get in the refs face in get away with it only he forgets he can't then bump the ref after

Someone also brought up a good point in the NFL thread...what if Cam/Kap had the same reaction to a loss like Andy Dalton? Can you imagine the media firestorm?

Stayblessed - QB's like Romo, Brady, Tebow, etc. are mostly criticized for things football related. Get back to me when someone gets on them about having a disingenuous smile, too many tattoos, to stupid to remember a playbook, being too hood, or just being a cornball. All of which has been covered or beaten to death by the media. It's only a matter of time before Teddy Bridgewater is torn down for something trivial.

I would be livid if my QB, white or black was wearing a different NFL team. Kaep was stupid for that. Brady wouldn't do that because he knows better.
 
I've heard Romo called "stupid" plenty of times.  Don't know if that's football related or not.

But there is definitely a different standard.
