#allfacts I can't wait until Drake's run is over and I can see how people talk when looking back at it.

Drake is one of the BEST hip-hop artist EVER.

You can't just use the words "hip hop" in place of "rap" like the two aren't the same

Drake is a very talented rapper, artist, whatever you choose to label him.

Not close to GOAT though

Drake is one of the BEST hip-hop artist EVER.

If he wanted to, I'm sure he could get the proper staff and be ONE of the best rappers as well.

He (and his help) have made some AMAZING music, how Ns really gonna deny that?

When you say one of the best does that mean he's in the top 200?

Rap and hip-hop aren't necessarily the same. And not in a Kweli vs Soulja Boy kinda way.

For example you don't have to be a RAPPER to make hip-hop music. Ex. Nate Dogg, Ty Dolla, Kid Cudi, Fetty Wap, Missy Elliot, they make hip-hop, none of them are rappers as far as I'm concerned ( Cudi raps maybe 25% of the time)

Pop is short for POPULAR. Taylor Swift is a pop star, but she's from the genre of country. Nelly was a pop star from the genre of rap/hip-hop. Shaggy was a pop star from the genre of Reggae. Janet and Michael Jackson were pop stars from the genre of R&B, etc.

To deny Drake's status as one of the BEST is simply denial. While I personally prefer KRS One/Ice Cube's style to his, he is a BETTER artist than BOTH. While they are/were superior rappers.

Jadakiss is one of the GREATEST rappers/MC/Lyricist but he has had a mediocre career as an actual artist, he hasn't made GREAT music. The same could be said for a Ras Kass, Killah Priest, they are AMAZING rappers/MC/lyricist but there careers as artist are dismal at best, where people Luke Drake, Ja, Nelly or Missy Elliott had much more profound careers as rap/hip-hop artist.

And I agree with everything you said so let me stand corrected.

But what does the label have to do with anything?

Thats more of a shot at Meek then anything.

But it's not a genre. It's a status. Anyone can be pop is enough people like their ****. The Billboard charts are for POPULAR music. NaS, Pac, BIG, Cube, Outkast have had albums reach #1 on popular charts.

Calling Drake pop doesn't discredit him. It's actually props. If your in the business of selling and you become popular you essentially have experienced more success than others.

Drake never worked with Taylor Swift, never needed to. Meanwhile Kendrick.. NaS is on Madonna last album, DJ Premier produced for Christina Aguilera, etc.

So youre one of those who believe popularity, status & marketing make you better than those that are actually more talented cause that artist is actually being recognized? Ok man. And Taylor Swift collab or not, Kendrick is the best artist in hip hop right now & its not even close...

I used to think son preached sense when we would all bicker. But u delusional man, that's why the industry all ****** up they got delusional people working.

Drake definitely one of my favorite rappers ever.

Or rather, he's made some of my favorite music ever if he's admitting to getting that QM help like it seems in that Fader article.

Marketing & hype over powers all. Only reason i can explain projects like Rodeo by Travis Scott & Black Dollar by Rick Ross being so overlooked by this Drake & Future collab :smh:

Agreed, but with that being said if you're good, you're good. You can still sell and generate numbers without hype or marketing. J.Cole's last project for example.

Don't recall saying that. Do recall saying I prefer KRS One/Ice Cube to a Drake, if you don't understand that I don't know what to tell you. But this IS a business and you don't sign onto a billion dollar industry to "keep it REAL" or uphold the culture because the culture doesn't live in office buildings. When you allign yourself with a major label your intentions are to sell your product, so if one sells more than another, that makes him more successful. Doesn't make them MORE talented. You can't measure actual talent in any other way but evaluating the importance, impact, and quality of the art put forth.

Kendrick is head an shoulders ahead of ANY one rapping. PERIOD.

Says the guy that has Gucci Mane and Master P in his top 10.

How exactly would the industry be different with those that think like you running it? Or would it be?

I dislike the industry probably more than you and anyone else I've come in contact with in or out the industry.

So is Drake one of the best in hip hop ever, or is he one of the best leading artists today? Pick one. Cause they're both completely different. One is a total hyperbole, and the other is actually plausible.

If someone says hes one of the best ever cool they are entitled to that. But to say he's one of the best ever bruh cmon. I said those guys were in my top 10, p mainly off of influence and the impact he had on my life. I never said he was one of the best hip hop artist ever.

Drake is ONE of the BEST hip-hop artist EVER. You're fav artist from any generation of hip-hop would echo that if they were being HONEST. Jay-Z, NaS those guys have praised him. Your personal feelings shouldn't effect your ability to tell the truth.

That's just what it is.

Hopefully he makes a CLASSIC album to further solidify that.

Kanye is as well, I doubt its a coincidence that they both have HELP putting their lyrics together.

I personally feel Kendrick is the BEST Rapper I've ever heard all in all. His music will never have the effect that NaS and BIGs had on my life, but I feel he's better than BOTH. And his catalog is one of the STRONGEST ever already.

Dude put future over KDot

I'm done with this. Dude doesn't deserve a quoted post he's getting on my NT block list.

Nobody is above KDot fool
