The 2014 NBA Trade Deadline Thread

yall really think the celtics would trade their superstar to the lakers out of all teams

To tell you the truth, majority of the roster can be gone. I think the only people that won't be traded is Sullinger and Kelly. The majority of the rosters are free to be traded.

On Boston sports radio, Bass is most likely to be gone soon. I wouldn't mind that.

They want Gordon Heyward but don't want to give up a 1st round pick for him.

Siiiigh Morey needs to fleece the Sixers already and get this over with

As Memphis tries to upgrade small forward spot, I'm told they've been among the many teams pursuing the Warriors' Harrison Barnes.

Golden State is searching for quality backup bigs, but safe to say a deal for Kosta Koufos won't be enough to get Barnes in a Griz jersey.

Been called a Koufos for Barnes deal. I understand GSW does not want to sell Barnes low, but their asking price cannot be THAT much more with the way he's playing.

• Ric Bucher, Bleacher Report: The odds are greater that Pau Gasol finishes the season in a Lakers uniform than winds up elsewhere, even though both sides know his run in L.A. is over and he intends to keep playing beyond this season somewhere.

• Mark Medina, Los Angeles Daily News: Even if [Pau] Gasol survives another trade scenario, it’s unlikely the Lakers will retain him once he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Gasol also conceded the Lakers haven’t had any talks with him about securing an extension.

• Ramona Shelburne, ESPNLosAngeles.com: The Lakers have been one of the more active teams in advance of Thursday’s deadline as they gauge the market for [Pau] Gasol and veterans like Jordan Hill, Chris Kaman and Steve Blake. With their record at 18-35 heading into Wednesday’s game against the Houston Rockets, it makes little sense to pay luxury taxes and be in line to pay the more punitive repeater taxes in the future. However, sources said the Lakers have remained resolute in every trade discussion not to trade Gasol without acquiring an asset in return, and that there is a growing sentiment within the organization that it could be more valuable to hold on to Gasol and his Bird rights as he becomes a free agent and the organization has substantial room under the salary cap for the first time in years.

• Eddie Sefko, Dallas Morning News: Mark Cuban has heard so many preposterous trade rumors that he laughs at a lot of them. The Kevin Love-to-Dallas speculation fell into that category. … The Mavericks are ridiculously shy on tradable assets to obtain a player of Love’s talents. So that makes it impossible to create any scenario that would get them in the running.

• Jerry Zgoda, Minneapolis Star Tribune: Despite all the building national speculation, here’s one thing you can bet on: The Wolves aren’t trading Kevin Love.

• Stefan Bondy, New York Daily News: Sources confirmed a Yahoo! report that the Nets were talking with the Kings about swapping two veterans — Jason Terry and Reggie Evans — for 26-year-old guard Marcus Thornton. The Nets have been shopping Terry and Evans extensively, a source said. Terry, who has been traded twice in his long career, said he hasn’t been told anything about a deal, but plans to have a conversation with general manager Billy King. … Every player involved in the proposed deal with the Kings has two years remaining on his contract. But the Nets would have to spend more money in salaries and luxury taxes if they acquire Thornton, which would push their record-breaking season figure close to $200 million.

• Keith Pompey, Philadelphia Inquirer: The Sixers are shopping Evan Turner, Spencer Hawes, and [Thaddeus] Young leading up to Thursday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline. The franchise wants to gain future compensation. The Sixers are believed to be the most active team in trade talks, having had discussions with all 29 other NBA franchises.

• Steve Bulpett, Boston Herald: The Celtics are, indeed, willing to entertain offers for [Rajon] Rondo, but unless another club puts something truly amazing to [president Danny] Ainge’s head, it’s hard to see him pulling the trigger on such a trade at this time.

• Chris Broussard, ESPN.com: Toronto would love to make a deal for Rajon Rondo, but I’m told Rondo would not re-sign a long-term contract in Toronto after next season.

• Darnell Mayberry, The Oklahoman: All told, it’s unlikely the Thunder will do anything of substance [at the deadline] for the third straight year. Still, there are reasons to believe OKC could agree to something smaller. … It’s not a pressing need, but the Thunder could stand to shore up its perimeter shooting.

• Sam Amick, USA Today Sports: On Omer Asik front, I’m told there have been no recent talks w/ Houston and Milwaukee. Again, idea that he stays in Houston very possible.

 at the thought of the Cavs trading Deng because he's already that unhappy with Cleveland.

I wish we'd just send Pau to OKC for lesser young guys + low end picks. They could certainly use him over Perk in certain situations without hurting them late with defense where they can still use him and Ibaka if they so choose.

But I know OKC wouldn't take on the money, even short term.

Thunder need to call the Pelicans for morrow and cut fisher.

Lakers just need to ship Pau, anywhere.
if by some miracle fisher can keep playing the way he has been playing in recent weeks.. i got no problem letting him roll out there

hopefully brooks has learned from that last miami game that playing perkins  a ton of mins against certain teams is counterproductive.. and that's all we truly need

Anything. Late firsts, future firsts, extra seconds, whatever you guys would be willing to give up to make a title run this season. Clearly Pau wouldn't be in your long term plans, so we can't ask for the moon, I just want any sort of assets we can get.

I don't want him on our roster on Friday.

Started reading an article yesterday for the Startribune (Minnesota) that said the Wolves should do that deal for Prince and Allen. Said losing Barea and Budinger isn't ideal and taking on those contracts is reminiscent of the hell the Wolves roster went through in some of the Mchale days. The dude stills said go ahead with trade simply for a shakeup. I'm not making this up. Didn't finish the article.

I think there's good things about that trade for Minnesota, but it surely shouldn't be done only for a change.

just get rid of pau man....

that broken llama aint worth **** now...

bargained around like a 60 year old hooker....smh

The wolves are doomed, bad luck in close games doomed this season, Love leaving is seeming inevitable, it really blows.

@WojYahooNBA Minnesota firm that it wants Tony Allen to join Tayshaun Prince in Budinger-Barea deal, but Memphis resisting - for now, sources tell Yahoo.
@WojYahooNBA Y! Sources: Clippers, Knicks discussing deal centered on Iman Shumpert and Darren Collison. http://yhoo.it/OafpN0
@WojYahooNBA Brooklyn-Sacramento nearing agreement on Jason Terry-Reggie Evans for Marcus Thornton deal, as Yahoo reported Tuesday. No picks or cash.
Does Jason Terry get a tattoo of a tank on his bicep?

That deal will get better once the deadline approaches for MIN-MEM. I think Memphis is feeling some buyer's remorse with that TA contract. It should've only been a 3 yr deal, but they gave him 4 years and he's not getting any younger. Add to the fact that moving Prince is a MUST IMO, I think they are doing everything in their power to get a better SF for the 2nd half of the season.

If Budinger can remain healthy, I can see him making a similar impact as Lee playing with Zbo/Gasol on the floor.

Memphis should include TA and just completely rebuild. Not getting any younger and they're far from a contender.

I think they need to re-tool. A complete rebuild is a little much. The FO mentioned that they want sustainability. They want Memphis to be competitive at least for the next 5 years and I think each move they make will allow that. I think they are capable of making some noise in the playoffs, but they have to get better offensive players on the perimeter. Adding Barea and Budginer in place of TA and Prince would be that. I'm just tired of teams completely ignoring those players on the offensive end.

Some of these rumored trades I'm reading about :smh:

Why would the Clippers trade Darren Collison for Reymond Felton? :x

Collison ran the Clippers offense perfectly while CP was out and there's no guarantee Paul will stay healthy the rest of the season.

Semantics, but I envision moving ZBO, TA, and Prince. I'd consider that a re-build. Depending on what you get back you can call it a retool, but you're rebuilding your starting 5 IMO.
