The 2014 NBA Trade Deadline Thread

Parsons is younger and better than Green on arguably the best deal in the league.

He is much, much more valuable than Uncle Jeff and I like Jeff.

I dont like that trade at all. for the Rockets It looks like a huge lose. What will the Rockets do with Rondo who cant shoot the three ball at all? Who will replace Parsons' production and Jeff Green is not equal to Parsons especially when the contracts are compared.

I have to say this

if their is any sort of blanket statement you can take away from looking at basketball analytics as much as I have;

It is INCREDIBLY difficult to have an elite offence if your point guard can't shoot threes.

Like really really difficult.

So if you want Rondo, you have to hope he's an exception.

I don't think he is.

That is true, but if you surround him with the right balance of scorers and shooters? I'm not quite sure how a Rondo/Harden backcourt will work. I guess you could look at it as Pierce usage rate with Rondo. It would make Harden better decreasing his usage rate and letting him primarily spot up when Rondo has the ball. Rondo/Dwight pick n roll :x

I think it could work and it would give Houston their best chance at a championship.

I guess at the end of the day, it depends on how you view Rondo. I still think Rondo is a top 5-6 PG in the league when healthy. Add to the fact that Houston is going to pay Parsons $10M next offseason, the "value" everyone talks about goes away.

Yeah, Parsons is a bargain at that current deal, and I do agree that Parsons is a better player than Green, but the gap in talent isn't that much. I'm not saying the Rockets or even the Celtics take that deal. But judging from the past, Danny Ainge would probably require Parsons in any trade involving Rondo. He got got three unprotected first rounders for three players that's about to retire and an unprotected 1st for a COACH. Don't think he would settle for Lin and Asik for Rondo.

I maybe, Chandler just space the floor so well.

It feels like ROndo is too ball dominant to play with Harden.

The reality is that Parson's valuable contract goes out the window when extension talks begin this offseason. What are the Rockets going to do this offseason before taking on additional salary from Parson's new contract in 15-16?

i'm hoping we can steal him from around 6-8 million

Harden isn't the right space off Rondo type tho. Harden isn't a catch and shoot guy to me. He's a ball in his hand off the dribble shooter, whereas Rondo and Parsons would be a great pairing because Parsons is a catch and shoot shooter if that makes sense.

OJ Mayo just got 8 last offseason and he wasn't even coveted much someone is going to pay Parsons big bucks

 little.

6-8 ain't little dude. He's likely to get paid pretty damn nice. 1-2 million off the top is fine, not 1-2 mill off the top per year. Come on now.

Rockets seem to have a really tight knit, fun group. I wonder how they'd handle such a huge shakeup in their starting lineup midway through the year.

If I'm Houston I look to add role players that can shoot, not dish my best shooter for a guy with no jumper when a big time playmaker isn't that necessary.

Parsons is getting paid regardless, 8 figures a year also. If he got Dwight to come here like some suggest then better believe his agent will use that to get Parsons more money.

He won't be cheap at all which is why I always thought the Rockets needed to get that 3rd piece before paying Parsons. Makes it that much harder to do once he's signed long term.

parsons is the golden egg of the league.

the great white hope

i think boston would pay him 30 mil a year if they could

This.

  @ that essential-esque trade. The Rockets would subtract much more than they'd add with that trade.

Lin/Asik, Parsons, Jones and a 1st   put the controller down

Interesting wrinkle about Parsons' contract with the Rockets; the Rockets can let him be a restricted free agent this summer in free agency or they can keep for dirt cheap next season, but then he would be an unrestricted free agent in 2015 (think Lance Stephenson).
