The 2014 NBA Trade Deadline Thread

Man... it just dawned on me that the deadline is only 5 days away :wow:

Think tomorrow will be nothing, but monday and beyond should get interesting..

something has to happen.....right....?

no big rumors at all?

either something big and under the radar will happen or.... nothing at all like its sounding like

usually all star weekend has some big rumors but nothing :smh:

Ben just has a horrible *** attitude. He can't even buy into the team concept when they're battling for a playoff spot. When he got into the rotation his attitude was still **** and he wasn't playing defense which is why he quickly fell right back out of it.

I don't see anyway that we don't move him by the deadline. Latest rumor has PHX wanting him.

Sixers want a first for ET and Turner said he doesn't expect to be moved. No way in hell they're getting the Det pick for a rental of Turner, he solves none of our problems anyways.

The deal we make will be one that we haven't even heard of. Cho hasn't had anything leak out of our front office since he got the GM job.

Sessions is an expiring and could also be moved, I would add Biyombo in a trade but only if it put us over the top. I actually want us to pursue Gary Neal, Caron Butler, or Pau. They all address needs that we have.

Just have to get him to buy in and it be a good situation/coach

Someone is gonna want that expiring

Phx needs a backup pg for the playoff run, I don't know how ish will hold up if they make the playoffs

Bg would be off the books anyway, dudes seem revive their career in az

Latest is deng is who phx is targeting I like it because he's a more capable scorer than tuck. I'm afraid will lose toughness tho and deng seems to always be injured.

Dream would be getting noah, but with chi playing good ball, that had come and gone.

I wish we could get k love, automatic upgrade over that sus Frye

Trade Deadline: Latest buzz around NBA

• Marcus Thompson II, Bay Area News Group: The calls are coming in for Harrison Barnes as the Thursday trade deadline nears. But Golden State isn’t doing much more than listening. While fans might be disappointed, the Warriors aren’t biting. General manager Bob Myers would deal Barnes only in a blockbuster that would significantly improve the roster, according to league sources. Barnes, despite playing beneath expectations, is coveted because of his high ceiling and low salary.

• Ken Berger, CBSSports.com: Trade talk at All-Star weekend has been “as slow as it’s been in a long time,” said one executive who has not received a single phone call. A lot of teams have made it known which players they are open to moving, but the problem is finding trade partners. Very few teams are willing to part with premium draft picks or take on future salary, which are the two key drivers for trades.

• Ian Thomsen, SI.com: It looks as if no star will be moved at the deadline for a second straight year. Pau Gasol’s lingering injury gives rivals another reason to not take him off the Lakers’ payroll, in addition to the overwhelming cost of his $19.3 million salary. Rajon Rondo is unlikely to create a market in his first month back from knee surgery. Carmelo Anthony isn’t going anywhere in the next few days (though that could change this summer, if he becomes fed up with losing in New York). The Raptors are no longer seeking to unload Kyle Lowry, who isn’t (yet) a star but would have added some substance to this inert market. The most valuable asset may turn out to be Luol Deng, if the underperforming Cavaliers don’t believe they’ll be able to re-sign him as a free agent this summer.

• Scott Howard-Cooper, NBA.com: At some point, and with L.A.’s spot in the standings, the decision has to be made whether it makes more sense for [Kobe] Bryant to aim for 2014-15 rather rejoin the team for 15 or 20 games this season. The uncertainty comes with the trade deadline on Thursday, leaving the possibility that longtime Bryant favorite Pau Gasol will be traded and the Lakers’ roster the rest of the way might be an unknown. “I hope not,” Bryant told NBA.com when asked if he thinks he has played his last game with Gasol. “I hope not. Big, big fan. You know how much I love Pau.” Bryant also reiterated, though, that he will not be involved in front-office decisions, this week or moving into a summer with the Lakers hoping to be major players to re-shape the roster. He said he simply wants to know about any major decision before it happens rather than have to learn about it at the same time as the public.

• Mike Ganter, Toronto Sun: As happy as he is with his team that reached the break at 28-24 after a 6-12 start, [Raptors general manager Masai] Ujiri knows they still have plenty of room to grow and for that reason he’s not ruling anyone on his roster completely untradeable, and that includes point guard Kyle Lowry, who he was asked about specifically. “I hate to comment about any player in that way, but I think we are not good enough so you have to keep it open,” he said. “That’s the honest answer. These guys have done pretty good. I know we’ve won a couple of games but we haven’t done anything yet. We’ll keep trying to grow.”

• Frank Isola, New York Daily News: The Knicks are definitely in the market for point guard help but there are few realistic options available. … The Knicks are open to trading Iman Shumpert but since the shooting guard is still on his rookie contract, it is difficult to find a trading partner unless the Knicks add another player. Tim Hardaway Jr. has the most value but the Knicks are not interested in trading the impressive rookie. Beno Udrih and Metta World Peace could both be moved but the Knicks won’t receive much in return.

• Sam Amico, Fox Sports Ohio: Some intriguing names to keep eye on as potential moving parts, mentioned to me by league insiders: Milwaukee Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova and guard Gary Neal; Philadelphia 76ers forward Thaddeus Young; Detroit Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey; and, of course, Rockets center Omer Asik. … The Spurs, I am told, would love to land Ilyasova or Young. But no one’s sure how they could actually make that happen.

Turner, Thad and Hawes would all be huge additions to any contending team. Turner would be the absolute perfect fit next to Durant and Westbrook in OKC...I don't know what they have that we would really want though. Maybe Lamb and something else. Thad on the Spurs would be HUGE. Rockets should be making a play for Hawes....great fit next to Dwight and wouldn't cost them that much.

Deng signs with MIA in the offseason.

Pau would be interesting in SA.

Doubt the lakers would want to move him there.

Why? Lakers arent making playoffs so makes no sense for them not to like it since they wont be in the way of their title hopes

Spurs would be favorites IMO depending on who they gave up :x

Unless the Spurs give up a core piece making a considerable amount of money (Splitter?) a Pau trade to the Spurs isn't happening.

But I doubt the Lakers would even want Splitter.

Honestly Splitter for Pau wouldn't be bad since they both stink. One is just young and can at least somewhat divert people from out of the paint.

Knicks are interested in Jeff Teague according to Marc Stein.

Makes some sense since the Knicks need a PG and Danny Ferry was never in love with Teague according to various reports I've read.

If a minor deal is out there to be made, do not be surprised if Jerryd Bayless and his $3.1 million expiring contract are moved for a player like Detroit's Will Bynum who makes about $2.79 million less than Bayless but has one year remaining on his current deal with the Pistons.

Ainge loves what Bayless can do, but the idea of getting further under the luxury tax is even more appealing than keeping him. You can't really fault Ainge for feeling that way when you consider the Celtics are most likely going to be among the bottom-10 teams in the league this year and yet the teams' payroll will stack among the league's top-10.
