We have very little compassion or unity as a society for truly oppressed factions and really desperate causes but we will frantically gobble up whatever fast food is placed on our plate by the media. This topic is a perfect example of that.
Threads about racial profiling, child labor, environmental destruction, incarceration disparity, neo-colonialism, draconian immigration policies etc. don't stand a chance with out peer group but mutter anything about "homosexual equality" and the uproar will be deafening.
You'll swear that "gay people" are being shackled en masse and forced to live a life of servitude, rather then living in posh enclaves like Beverly Hills and SoHo; often looking down on the same people championing "homosexual equality".

Little kids don't need to be talking about sex or even thinking about what gay sex is.
The issue is people trying to indoctrinate children way too early.
Yes this goes for many other things in our society as well.
How bout we better educate these kids on life so they have other things to worry about besides sex.

That's what happened to the Occupy movement. No clear goal and too many groups falling under one umbrella with different wants getting nothing accomplished.
That thing fizzled and popped. It's history. Learn from that lesson.
that's my issue.
Kids are easy to manipulate.
And when that kid get older, they will come back with anger and other issues like the kids going for those old clergymen that did wrong things to them when they were young and under their watch.
They're gonna feel like they were robbed of their childhood.

you're talking about nearsightedness yet you seemingly aren't looking too far past "we were slaves though" when the comparison is brought in. An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, right? how can you talk about the injustices our people faced yet sentences later downplay the injustices being experienced by another group? simply because some of them are rich and famous?
Yes our ancestors were enslaved, and 3/5 of a person, and we were loathed. Now we have homosexuals who are deemed "unnatural" (against nature), who have laws put in place to have them murdered and detained legally just for daring to be who they are, etc etc.
We have very little compassion and unity in our society period. that seems like an issue that should be addressed also, and while we're at it we should maybe work on moving closer to unity by not allowing our fellow man to have his lifestyle outlawed because people are afraid of it or disgusted by it when it hurts no one else.
