Styling aside, the all-American luxury marque has engineered the ATS Coupe with a focus on reducing weight to the benefit of both performance and fuel economy, giving it near 50/50 weight balance front to rear with underbody aerodynamic elements helping it cheat the wind.

Buyers will be able to choose between two engines: a 2.0-liter turbo four and a 3.6-liter V6. The base 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four offered in the sedan is dropped together with the rear doors, and while the V6 carries over unchanged at 321 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, the turbo four has been optimized. It still produces the same 272 horsepower, but with 295 pound-feet on tap, now offers 14-percent more torque, enough to help the turbo coupe hit 60 in 5.6 seconds.

just saw the coupe a minute ago on the expressway, in red. pretty spiffy.

It's their entry level vehicle/coupe so it can't be too crazy or way too sporty.

I actually like how long and wide and low it looks, looks a bit more expensive that it actually is.

Watching the interior in vids looks bad though, the black shiny plastic on the center console and steering wheel controls looks very cheap.

Love the lines on the car.

The new Cadillac logo looks like the Transformers logo.

New emblem makes the car look less luxurious to me, just something about it looks cheap and doesn't go with the car. Looks like something that belongs to a Chrysler or a Kia or Hyundai.

True I feel the same.

Shouldve kept the last one with the wreath around it .

It doesn't have the wow factor that the CTS Coupe has had for me. It's okay, but I wouldn't get it.

According to Road & Track, the ATS-V will use a version of the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 from the CTS Vsport, but the wick will be turned up to 450 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. In glorious news for driving enthusiasts everywhere, that potent mill will be available with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic.

According to R&T, the engine has a heap of high-performance tech to let it make the extra ponies, including titanium connecting rods, two water-to-air intercoolers, titanium turbines for the turbos and an additional radiator dedicated to cooling the gearbox and electronically locking differential. Keeping it all planted are a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, and a suspension with 50 percent more roll stiffness.

The exterior looks practically identical to an uncamouflaged tester that was recently spied. However, these leaked official Cadillac studio shots certainly lend a much meaner look, with a black mesh grille at the front and the heat extractor in the hood offset with some black trim. If the stock ATS-V look isn't enough for you, Cadillac will reportedly offer an optional package to add a different front, splitter, side skirts and rear spoiler to produce extra downforce at speed.

With 450 hp on tap and a weight of around 3,600 pounds, the ATS-V looks to have the 425-hp BMW M3/M4 siblings directly in its sights. However, the Caddy is a bit off the 469 hp or 503 hp offered by the upcoming Mercedes-AMG C63, but the numbers are close, and weight, gearing and traction will all be big factors in figuring out which is quickest around a track.
