Adidas D ROSE 5

Really only interested in these as actual hoop shoes - if anyone picks up a pair and plays in them, can compare them to Kobes, Lebrons, etc that would be awesome.

I just want to go try these on since they're available locally, but I want to hold out for the homes...

It's very difficult to try something on and walk out empty handed

And I know... this is a major 'first world problems' post.  I should be ashamed

My HOH sold out of most sizes. The local university basketball team all came in and returned their Rose 773 that the school bought for them for the Rose 5. The HOH manager wasnt happy but they had the receipt from the coach who bought the 773s online so nothing he could do about it.

Hey guys! My first ever post!

I have a basketball store in Ireland although we do ship internationally to the USA and everywhere else. ( www.basketballdirect.com ) .

But I'm not really on here to push that, just wanted to join the forum to keep up to date with the latest basketball shoe trends etc.

I have been wearing the Rose 5's for 2 weeks now and have played ball in them 6 times so here are my thoughts:

- Traction: Like someone mentioned above this was a worry for me when I first seen the design but happy to report that I've had no issues and traction has been good as you would expect in a top end performance shoe.

- Boost - I LOVE the Boost, love it! I have a pair of adidas boos that I was using for casual wear and they were really comfortable. They have really got this feel across in the D Rose 5 Boosts too. The best thing I think is that the cushioning is great but it doesn't seem to be at the expense of court feel.

- Fit: I wear a 12 and the 12 fitted me fine, felt a little stiff but broke in after about 5/10 mins of play.

- Issues: The only issue I really have is that you need to be careful where you leave them in between sessions if you have sweaty feet like me! The padding around the inside of the show is a really soft material and it seems to soak up moisture. It is super comfortable but if you leave these in your gym bag after playing for a few days and forget about them they could end up getting a bit danky pretty quick!

Overall I love the shoe, my top shoe of 2014 I think, mainly down to the Boost, if you are a boost fan you will love them.

Any questions let me know and I look forward to getting more involved on here!

Ahhh! Just spent ages writing full review of the shoe and it disappeared as it was my first post and it had a link in it! :frown:

Very short summary: I've played in it 6 times and I love it!

they did it, just brought the shoes in deadstock with a order ticket and switched them out. The funny part was they were all bent because they had to drop another $40 for the price difference...LMAO...Everyone was mad. HOH manager wasnt happy for the returns of 773s which they probably cant sell as well as the new Rose and the players were mad because they had to pay the difference

That's crazy...man I would have so much heat on court. I'd switch out every team adi I got for a Rose sig with the quickness.

I hope Rose stays healthy but his style of play is so explosive and the risk of self-inflicted injury is just higher with him.  He's got to play smarter and grow in other areas besides his other-worldly athleticism.  Can you imagine if he had a shot like Steph Curry?  Nightmare to guard.

In terms of the shoes, I don't remember when he was hurt or how much retail was, but the 2.5 St. Patty's and All-Stars and the NBC 3's were in the outlets for the low.  Those were some of the more popular and limited colorways if I remember correctly.  Adidas is usually pretty damn generous in their outlets and they do a lot of extra % off or BOGO sales, so I'm guessing we'll see some Rose 5 deals later.

You can't have watched alot of D.Rose over his career. OR even just THIS Preseason.

He's a Playmaker, so his Moves are indeed Explosive, but he's always had a Solid All-Around Game and plays/leads the offense with a balanced tempo at all times. He turns up & turns down like nobody else can. Pound-for-Pound Best & Most Versatile Shot-Maker in the League. He's got the Most-Balanced Blend of Power & Finesse we have in the League today, period. I think it's some of the Power Moves towards the Basket that will bring the most risk bc of the height , but so far this Preseason, he's cut down on the Dunking ALOT.

But who knows??? In 2012, he hurt himself on a routine Cut to the Paint... but alot of people don't remember that he missed almost 30-40+ Games that season with Nagging Leg/Foot/Ankle Sprains all year, so I think his intitial injury had more to do with just Natural Wear & Tear that can't really be avoided, rather than he's freakish athleticism on one play, being the culprit. The 2nd Injury was due to the rehab stress he was putting on that healthy leg, so athleticism wasn't to blame there either.

Repped for your common sense..and that we're both Bulls and Niners fans :pimp:

I thought I was the only one!

With a deeper team now, Rose can ease off while playing. He has a lot of players to support him and he's working on his jumper. Anything can happen, but I'm hoping for a great season for Rose and the Bulls! Can't wait to try these 5s tomorrow by the way.

he also plays really dumb. He'll catch a ball with his back turned on a fast break or inbound and just start sprinting, oblivious to where his defender is. Last night he did that, and started sprinting full speed and luckily missed rubio who was set up for a charge (one of the reasons i hate charges). I hope he doesn;t get hurt again but he needs to assess a situatuin before he begins sprinting full speed

Derrick Rose really isn't the type to go full speed on every possession. That's really more of John Wall's style.

People gotta stop bringing up 'reckless play' in citing his last two injuries.

His ACL injury was on a routine hop step.

When he tore his meniscus he wasn't even making a play. It was even more of a freak accident than the first one.
