AFRICAN HISTORY X

African history is a complicated thing, how has a continent so rich in resources been unable to pull itself up by the bootstraps despite widespread independence, freedom from colonialism, pan africanism etc? The answer is ultimately human but still nonetheless complicated. A lot of civil rights leaders and figures were influenced by African revolutionaries, and African revolutionaries where influenced by civil rights figures as well. But African history is riddled with stories of CIA sponsored assassinations, and other machiavellian political maneuverings that brought wealth to a few and misery to millions.

As people begin to think about black history month from an american perspective, I was struck by how much good information is available online about the other black history. A sometimes enlightening, but most times tragic history. Feel free to contribute.

Thought this was gonna be about a dope new movie.

I'll have to take some time aside to watch all these vids and read to fully appreciate this.

There's a lot to be said about the current state of the continent and the various countries that have stabilized and ones still going through upheaval. Not to mention those currently going through social change.

Good thread.

Some of these folks share names to link the struggle together between Africans and blacks in America.

Pan Africanism was the movement back then.

Garvey, X, Ali, King

These guys were international diplomats trying to unite the struggle in the minds of people the world over.

I respect your thread OP and apologize for the intrusion.

Beautiful thread. Got a tear in my eye. Lots of pain in our history, but even more to be proud about. Unlock your melanin.
