what's your greatest discovery in the search of new music?

currensy
Big krit
Jesse boykins iii
Lupe- way back when he was unknown
The black keys- never knew they existed until like 4 yrs ago
Roc Marciano

The very first time I heard Adele I was amazed. Same with Badu, Amy Winehouse and Corrine Bailey Rae.

In all honesty there are too many artists I could name but when you enjoy new music straight out the gate, the first playthrough always seems to be the best. Nothing matches that feeling.

Aloe Blacc and The Weeknd.

I was just aimlessly browsing around DatPiff and found the Weeknd. Been hooked since.

I actually heard Aloe Blacc before the Beats commercials, can't remember where though. Might have been Pandora, or similar.

Green Day. They opened my ears to a whole different side of music.

Drake. No one told me about him, stumbled across his music one day in YouTube can't even remember what I was searching for.
Wish we could pull up old threads on here. Back in '07-'08 when Comeback Season dropped, someone posted a thread about how the dude from Degrassi is a rapper, and they posted that pic of him wearing fake purple jays.. the thread was basically everyone clowning him  with a few comments here and there saying "yo, dude can actually spit though :nerd: "

Grizzly Bear.
They were opening for Phoenix back in 2010 at the Hollywood Bowl.
Went out and bought all of their cd's the next day.
Now I can say they are second favorite band. I've seen them multiple times including inside the Hollywood Forever Cemetary..

Wiz khalifa. Found his MySpace randomly in 05. Then told everyone about him. Took awhile for him to blow but that's the first one I really can remember finding without NT pointing me to someone.

I can remember my friend telling me to listen to 50 the summer before he blew. Thought he was joking around but he really found his older stuff before everyone.

curren$y i heard ventilation from covert coup  then i kept playing it and playing and playing it then i heard scottie ******g pippens ......

stuck with listening to curren$y then he went on and dropped the most beautiful **** iv ever heard with wiz khalifa that goes by the title

Definitely was The Weeknd. My face was priceless the first time I heard House Of Balloons....

Im curious about Toro y Moi. What would yall compare him too?

@jmansmc23

toro y moi is the truth, i can't really compare him to anybody else..

he produces and he writes his own stuff. check him out, you won't be disappointed.

Ever since I first heard music from him I've been a fan of Hardwell. His tracks and livesets are amazing.

Also awesome are W&W, Armin van Buuren and Martin Garrix.

When I rediscovered Curren$y....I remembered him from his new no limit days

Was on MySpace and came across his profile...he had just released "Christmas in October" was hooked as a loyal fan from that point

Probably the only artist I'm straight up happy for their success...his grind was amazing and he left a prime wayne and built his brand

Edit: Also the day I first heard "through the wire" ....was watching bet during the summer and the video came on....I was like damnnnn this song is hot as **** I asked my uncle if he knew who "Kane West" was and he was like "kanye west" and he told me tracks he produced for Jay....when feb came around I copped college dropout the day it came out only knowing that one single....played that album every damn day

I think my favorite artists that I truly stumbled on (meaning didn't hear on NT and none of my friends told me about and I didn't hear on the radio)

- Nipsey. I caught on a little late, around TMC but that dude spits the realest **** ever
- Wale. When he was just rapping over gogo beats with no tape out. Downloaded his first tape and was hooked. Messaged him on here and told him he was the truth. He didn't respond though :rolleyes
- J. Cole. First time I heard I get up, it was life changing. No lie.
- Big Sean. Heard him spit getcha some on a kanye tape before graduation dropped was hooked after that.
- Mike Posner. Heard him on a wale project and loved everything he put out outside of that trash debut album.

Some that NT or XXL or friends put me on to:
- Dom Kennedy. Constantly listening to dude
- Drake.
- KRIT - Heard KWH and was like dude is the TRUTH
- Lorde
- Kendrick
- ASAP
- Curren$y - Heard fast times at ridgemount fly and knew homie had the juice.

Still remember hearing Joe Budden and 50 on a Clue 'Hev E Components pt 3' tape back in 01... Was instantly a fan of both, and thought they both would blow up

Stack Bundles
Freck Billionaire

The Weeknd, for sure. Possibly my favorite music ever. I listened to HoB the day it came out and it didn't connect, even though I was actively doing a great deal of those things. I decided to give it another spin one random night and was blown away. He was all I listened to that entire year. I still listen to pretty much every song he's ever made very regularly.

And, recently, Future. I'm not sure why I was ignoring him before Honest. But I DL'ed that and really enjoyed it. And then Monster happened. And then Beast Mode. Man... I listen to Future and absolutely ridiculous amount. I don't want to hear much other rap these days.

Definitely Big KRIT and The Black Keys.

Dom Kennedy as well and I always knew about Currensy since the cash money days but I would throw him in as well
