KIA K900 - Would you buy a $60k Kia?

Kia's Marketing plan is in full swing. This lux model is meant to drive sales for the entire brand. Buyers will purchase the other models because they can now associate the Kia brand with the quality of the 60k K900.

Niketalk is always on their high horse when it comes to car brands :smh:

Not really sure it's "being on a high horse" per say, some make good points.

Kia is a subsidiary or Hyundai, below Hyundai as a matter of fact and I wouldn't think of putting a more expensive luxury sedan over the Hyundai unless it's main purpose is to make the Hyundai more appealing. It is like a Scion putting out a mid-size sedan and pricing it $10k more than the Camry or Toyota releasing a luxury sedan and pricing it more than the LS. I am sure they saw something that is profitable about it, I read that it isn't using aluminum like most luxury cars are so it is still heavy and supposedly it drives like a limo at times so that probably kept some cost down.

Off topic, I was surprised when I saw that the Maserati advertised last night during the game starts at 66K.

Don't know the specifics of the car, but damn....

I guess they had some leftover Ford's

Toyota has released plenty of Luxury sedans priced higher than the LS, but they dont bother releasing them in the US. Why would they when they know Americans prefer badges over substance. Hell... Lexus was started as a US only brand for that exact reason

I doubt KIA plans on selling many of these, its more likely they're using it as a means to boost their brand image and get people talking about the company. Depending on how much they have invested in development I can see them loosing money on this project but making up for it with increased sales of their less expensive cars.

Obviously I meant for the US market, hell Lexus' are regular ol Toyotas in Japan so an LS equivalent would have that badge over there.

Similar to the TSX here being called an Accord in Europe.

Correct, but those are the exact same cars with nothing more than a simple logo swap. I was referring to Toyotas Crown, Crown Majesta and their Rolls Royce rival the Century; all of which have no US equivalents.

I'd argue that the Crown and GS are very much alike and the Crown has actually taken in some of GS/Lexus' platform and look, most recently that spindle front design being very evident in the newest Crown.

But overall, they have no US equivalent because they see no market in it here. Point is Toyota doesn't have a car more expensive than the counterpart in the Lexus brand in the US.

Kia probably knows what they're doing with this

Maybe making a car like this brings respectability and higher sales to their other vehicles and changes the image of the brand as a whole.

When i seen the car at the auto show i thought it looked nice.

Not $60g nice tho.
