:wow:
REPPED because I like what I see

midsoles on RO are crap.
red suede on the RO is crap.

I appreciate honesty like this when considering buying a shoe. Folks get these and feel that the almighty yeezy couldn't possibly be crap. Must be a part of the complex.
No problem. I can't speak for the yeezy 2 line as a whole since the RO was the only color I had but looking at the other two it seemed like they were better. Other members have stated the same.

Some pairs of the RO look beautiful tho. The red suede looks less ashy on those.

It's still a nice looking shoe at the end of the day tho.

Most of the ashyness (not sure if that's a word but F it) you'll see in pics is due to lighting.

I agree, tho, quality on these aren't that great overall.

I lucked out because there's like 0 excess glue on mine and the midsole paint job isn't complete poop, either.

I saw some dudes air bubble basically covered w/ red paint,

Lol. Glad u got a clean pair. My pair I had had ashy suede in person. Def wasn't a pic only type ordeal. Dat red glow sole tho..... Had me in love doe. Still love dat sole.

Proto I buy Jordan's all of the time and I haven't seen midsole paint as bad as the ROs.
The fisheyes on the air bubbles and the poor paint around them is wow quality

And the argument that the suede is the same doesn't mean that it couldn't have been dyed any better. A vibrant red shoe with an ashy red suede fails on any shoe not named yeezy.

yeah, but i'll take the crap paint job on the RO's over so many of JB's paint jobs that chip, peel, and crack on your first wear... we saw a couple pairs of plats that have had peeling and cracking paint on the midsoles, but nothing like i've seen from JB for years now (and even most air max's in recent years)...

luckily my bubbles don't really look like that, there is some uneven paint and stuff, but not that bad.

i agree the dye process should have been better, but it's still buttery suede. better than most of nike's GR and stuff... i don't think mine is very "ashy" looking, so maybe i'm biased. but good, long haired, butter suede, is gonna change shades when brushed in one direction or another, in different lighting, etc... that's why it was funny to me the cats acting like the fakes with the cardboard, red all the way thru, fake suede, was better looking than the actual authentics... that's how good, buttery suede looks... i just think the dye jobs are better on some pairs than others...

all that being said, i've always maintained, b4 i owned RO's, and since i've owned them, that the plats and solars are better. ya just can't beat hand carved leather...

^^^ I always thought the quality on the y1 was on point. At least the pairs I saw in person were dope.

the Y1's are some of the best quality shoes nike's ever put out... he doesn't know what he's talking about.

they are the closest thing to a luxury shoe i've seen from nike. from the sweet smelling, soft, amazing leather, to the imprinted suede, to the embossed straps and leather, to the padding around the heel, to the amazing comfort (it's like slipping your feet into pillows)... quality materials and SICK detailing.

I've worn these with Sneaker Shields and you'll still get creasing regardless.

Unless you wanna be walking like a pregnant lady everywhere you go or something,

See kids doing that all the time, even w/ some GR crap on their feet.

The only way to keep them looking DS is to keep them in your closet.

As for the shaving, I just took about a half an inch off the bottom with scissors all the way around.

i've shaved them in a bunch of diff ways... i've cut out the side for my pink toe to not get crushed... i've even cut the front for my other toes to not push up against it (it sucks for your toes to be hitting up against hard plastic)... if you shave the whole thing too much there's no lip for them to catch and stay in place, so they slip back as you walk, and defeat the purpose... i've tried shaving them so my toes don't hit the front of it at all, and then putting something sticking on the ceiling of it, so it holds to my sock, stays in place, and doesn't slip back, but it just doesn't work...

they do however prevent creasing. mine have creased NONE and i've only worn them with them.

really might have to say screw it and wear them without shields or anything at all... i just HATE how these look creased.

this.

personally I own Zens and Plats, and i've seen 3 authentic pairs of RO's in person. Here's my comparison between the 3.

Zen 1s  are amazing quality imo. The leather is super soft, the suede is buttery, and the shoe is extremely comfortable. The intended goal behind releasing the Air Yeezy 1 was that Kanye wanted to make a "luxury-like" shoe with good quality to sell for an affordable price. Seriously one of the best quality Nike shoes that I own.

Plat 2s are good quality, but nowhere near as good as the Air Yeezy 1. The scales are a nice touch, and they're definitely an extremely comfortable shoe. The suede on my plats was and still is buttery. Decent midsole paint job, Quality overall is good

Red October 2s are definitely the worst quality Yeezy out of the whole series. Don't get me wrong, I would still love to have the shoe and they are sick in person. But quality wise they are garbage. It seems like Nike really just threw them together in a rush. Midsole paint on all pairs i've seen is extremely sloppy. Suede is hard & ashy. Not buttery at all. Some of the worst suede i've even seen used on a shoe since the Oreo Jordan 5.

TL;DR : Red October is the worst quality Yeezy release out of the whole series. After seeing them in person, i would personally never drop 3-4k on them. Waste of money for a bad quality, although good looking, shoe.

I love my ROs and all, but they are definitely the bottom of the barrel of the Yeezy line. The Y1s are on another level of quality though...it's not even fair to compare them.

"garbage" and "bad quality" is a stretch tho... and so is "worst suede"...

the suede on my RO's is the exact same as the plats and solars.

i noticed most people who don't have these like to reach and call them garbage... and most people who do have them like to down play the quality issues...

i'm just trying to keep it real.

they're really not that bad. better than average for nike, just not $245 better, nor as good as any of the previous yeezys...

end of the day tho, i don't buy most shoes for amazing quality these days, much less for performance, i buy them cuz i like how they look when you wear them. that's all yeezys have ever been about to me.
