Thoughts on GS Size sneakers retailing nearly the same as Adult sizes.. Vol. $180 for GS sizes..LMFA

One a serious note, These prices are to expensive and it have really made me cut back on my selection of shoe choices. I was considering getting the Kobe 9's this past Saturday, but the $225 MSRP made me think on 2 things, one, I won't wear them that much to spend that amount for them and two, $225 can be used on other things that are considered a better investment. Like, I can use that $225 on something like a partial payment on a Ps4.. I know Nike is capitalizing on it's consumers with this "Sneaker hype", but enough is enough! $180 for a kid shoe is outrageous and I've never thought in my 26 in the half years that a kid shoe would ever cost close to $200.. For $180, they might as well make kid shoes the same as adult size shoes with the same quality and technology used on them.

I have a similar train of thought for buying infant shoes. Why spend $50 for an infant shoe that they wear for a month or two and the babies don't even realize what the hell they'r wearing?
Not only that I remember a few times going places with my yungin in tow and suddenly asking "what happened to his other shoe" LOL I swear he must have used to throw them at people or things.

yeah i had to stop buying kicks for my nephews as they got older...i just give them money and let them do what they want. my kids will be in what ever is available on base...lol no tax and a discount.

Now I know how my parents felt when I wanted $100 kicks
Yeah, when I was was younger, I might of had out of a count of one hand a few $100 plus sneakers.. Luckily, a lot fo the shoes that were that much for reatil, my mom would be lucky enough to find them on sale under $100..

I've outgrown Nike for the most part and JB completely. Sperry's, chucks, vans, and older retro's are in rotation. Adidas and Reebok are coming with it these days as well. I'm curious to see how this all plays out.

I'm happy, I'm sick of female "sneakerheads" anyway.

As far as kids, AF1's are stil the same price. My mom never bought me Air Jordan's or any overpriced Nike signature growing up. She fueled my passion for sneakers.

why cant females be into shoes...

I wouldn't buy my kid FOAMS or any super pricy shoes until he was in high school. And if he got em it would because the report was on point.

When I have a kid, I won't buy him anything name brand unless it actually serves a purpose. My kid gonna be one of those dudes that rocks converse and vans because he sees no importance in expensive things that don't serve a purpose... I hope.

Real Talk. I played myself buying matching Js for lil man, but by the time he turned 3, I was like what is the point. Especially since he favored the shoes from Old Navy, and Childrens place more than the nikes. I wised up and just stocked up on old navy kicks, or childrens place . Then for special occasions throw a pair or two of Js or nikes if I can get them on discount just to have.

I was facing the same issue today. Took my nephew out and we visit a couple sneaker spots...see kids jordan sneakers for ridiculous prices....had to break the kid's heart and say it was out of budget.

These days do yourself and your kids a favor...cop some asics or new balances. Maybe save up for that one pair they've wanted for a while and call it a day. kid's shoe sizes change quickly so it's really not a wise buy given that they might outgrow $100+ sneakers in a relatively short time.

MIne is only seven, and truth be told these kids don't give a rats ***, its really us who care about it. That goes for clothes too, as long as they look presentable and clean it doesn't matter if its RL, or oshkosh B'gosh they are going to look good either way.

When I have kids I'm going to do everything possible to make sure my kids are no where near as materialistic as I was/am. I plan on teaching them not to pay full price for anything if they can help it.

True, I don't even cop Js anymore, and I don't feel like I'm missing anything either. From the price increase to the games we have to play just to buy a pair of shoes :smh: no thanks, I've had enough.

I worked in a shoe store when prices first started getting kinda crazy like 120 etc for GS sizes. Even back then I was like this is too much...

I love nike and I've loved sneaker culture in general for a very long time BUT there is no way in hell I can justify buying a child 180 dollar sneakers. It's just not practical.

To answer your question OP ppl are dumb nike is smart. As long as people keep buying. Nike will keep producing.

Before I had a kid I SWORE my kids were going to be fresh to death with baby Jordans, Air Max's and all that.

…My boy is 2.5 years old now and wears whatever I can get on sale. Mostly Vans and New Balance.

I'll be damned if I am going to drop a ton of loot on something he is going to grow out of in a few months. It'd be like throwing money out the window.

THIS....

My son will be 6 soon, and hes had some kobes, lebrons or durants that were purchsed for like $40 to $50 bucks at the outlets.

you would be surprised how quick kids outgrow shoes and clothes and how quick kids tear these shoes up. It aint worth it.

My aunt is a manager at a sketchers store and he stays laced with them kicks. those things can take a beating.

Ill still buy him decent shoes here and there but not like I used to say I would.

I dont even spend $180 on shoes anymore....

there are no foamposites or jordans out there that i would pay $180 for GS. truly is ridiculous, but if Nike didn't think they'd be able to pull it off, they wouldn't. they see the opportunity and realize there will be people out there who do buy it. while these shoes might not fly off the shelves, there will be those who will buy them right away...
