2014 New York Yankees season thread Vol. (84-78) .. Essential's Offseason thread coming soon

It only seems fitting that the Yankees get a superstar shortstop now that jeter will b gone..I guess we will all kno next week
Even if the Yankees do trade for him, where will they play him?  2B?

There's no way they're going to make Jeter DH.

I think a trade in the offseason is much more realistic.

They don't have the assets for him, but say they could get him... Yeah why not.

I'm not sure..but only half of a season left..Yankees def need more power hitters

I think a package of Aaron Judge, Luis Severino, and Gary Sanchez would have to make the Rockies think long and hard about it.  But then again it is the Rockies.  They asked for Kevin Gausman in return for Jorge De La Rosa lol.  They might be the most dysfunctional organization in baseball right now.   Just when you think they've reached their peak in failure they go and produce 15,000 jerseys with their franchise players' name spelled incorrectly.

Definitely never know. Tulo is also one of the few guys I'd be willing to put all the chips in on. Just because he's signed long term, and we desperately need help in the MIF.

On the wild pie in the sky dream that we could get him.

Headley - Tulo - Tex - McCann - Gardner - Ellsbury is a very good defensive team.

Tulo is on the DL too much. Him and Hanley. Great SS but hurt too often.

Anyone have the pic of Alex, his girl and his ex wife? I can't find it.

They're definitely padded this year. Most years though, he's been pretty evenly split. He's not like Cargo where there's a big gap every year.

I'll take 100-150 games of the best shortstop by far in the league over having Brendan Ryan or any other FA we may decide to go with. Wouldn't even blink an eye. The value he'll give you in the those games will trump what any other SS will do in a full 162 game season.

Two parts of Joel Sherman's article today

But keep in mind Tulowitzki has indicated he has become frustrated playing his prime mainly in non-contention. And there is belief if he were to request a trade, ownership would strongly consider fulfilling his wishes. However, Tulowitzki has a no-trade provision, wears No. 2 in honor of Derek Jeter and is thought to be considerably more interested in being a Yankee than a Met. And Colorado already has expressed interest to the Yankees in their top pitching prospect, Luis Severino.

Maybe it is seen by Joe Girardi as the best alignment with Mark Teixeira out, but a few executives felt Francisco Cervelli was being showcased because he has caught the Yankees’ last four games with Brian McCann moving to first base — including a day game Thursday after a rain-shortened night game Wednesday.

The Rockies and White Sox are both known to be looking for catching, and both have liked Cervelli in the past.

It's interesting that they contacted us. I heard on the radio that the owner would most likely deal Tulo to whatever team he wants if they decided to move him because of their relationship

Batting average is a meaningless stat though, gotta look at others to grasp how good he is or other players are. But other than this year, he's been over .280 every since 2010. And that's accounting for hitting in 3 other cavernous parks in the West with SF, LA and SD all being pitchers parks.

Is that worth possibly mortgaging for a RH hitter?

Depends. SS will be locked up until 2020 and he'll be hitting at another good hitters park along with Baltimore, Boston and Toronto which are hitters parks as well. Toss in that he's very good defensively and I think it'd be worth it. It really all depends on how much of the contract Colorado decides to eat. I'd say I may be upset at giving up prospects...but there seems to be a lack of some kind of management and development that are making all of our prospects fail.

Ehhh, I like Tulo but he's hurt too much and he's not that young. Plus you take on that contract. I'm interested to see what teams offer for him. He's without a doubt a great SS. I would like to get him but depends on what we give up.
