Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Season Thread Vol: (17-17)

Magic number is 18...

Late post but i was at that 5 hour game Monday...one of the best games I've ever been to. Stayed all 13 innings...i love free baseball lol

W. 85-47

Bryant #36 + a single and a walk and multiple defensive plays.

Heyward 2 hits and a walk. :pimp:

Hammell 6 solid

15 game lead on September 1

Magic # is 16

Lackey, Strop, Rondon, Coghlan, Almora, Patton, should all be called up soon.

Get some rest.

we have own the pirates lately. sweep sweep.

we should leave Almoora on the roster for Postseason. he can really play defense.

There are excellent cases to be made for Daniel Murphy, Nolan Arenado and Corey Seager. But the NL MVP award feels like it's Kris Bryant's to lose. The Cubs' mad masher is on pace for 44 homers, 39 doubles, 136 runs scored, 188 hits, 81 walks and very close to a .300/.400/.600 slash line. For the best team in baseball. The only men since 1900 with a season like that were Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Whoa.

La Stella back
Coghlan back
Smith back

Lackey will be back Sunday.
Rondon is in Iowa and will pitch a couple times, if no trouble, he will be back next week.

Strop had a setback with a slight groin issue, will push him towards the middle of the month. That's fine tho, by then we will have clinched the division, and just be working on trying to clinch HF. That will let him pitch a couple times with no real pressure, let him gear up for real in October. His arm should be pretty fresh, just worry about his location.

Did they forget Harper had a season just like that literally a year ago?

Best team in baseball last year?
And 99 RBI. (I think they forgot to list Bryant's pace)

And IF those numbers came, he'd have more runs, homers, doubles, hits, and RBI. But we'll see how he closes.

Cubs about to be 89-48 on Labor Day. :wow:

Score 7 runs in a game where Bryant/Rizzo do nothing and Fowler takes day off.

And get Rondon back tomorrow as well as Almora and Candelario. With Strop due back in a couple weeks.

:pimp:

We are balling. I was in San Francisco over the weekend during the series against them. Rocked my Cubs hat the majority of the time. Lots of trash talkers, but even they admitted they couldn't tell me nothin!

Today was rough, but productive.

Bryant, Russell, Contreras days off. Rondon back. Almora back. Patton back.

Rizzo two homers, and Montero two extra base hits. He's been hitting better lately. :nerd:
