Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Season Thread Vol: (17-17)

Did a lil more homework on the kid and your right CP, switch hitting defensive catcher. Kid is barely 21, so he'll prob be in the minors for a while. Saw a YouTube video on his scouting and looks like he needs some work.

Still gotta keep reminding myself that we still have a top 5 pick!

Cubs beat the Rockies today. Arrieta 7 innings, 7K's, 1 ER :nthat:

First Alcantara, now Baez & soon Soler. Like I said a few weeks ago, it's starting, opening of the window begins. This offseason will be fun

Not to even mention Bryant won't be far behind, and Addison Russell could be promoted to Triple A to take Baez's spot. :pimp: :pimp: :pimp:

Where did this version of Jake Arrieta come from? Did not see this coming in Baltimore.

Where did this version of Jake Arrieta come from?

Chris Bosio. Dude has been unreal for Cubs pitching the last couple years.

Maholm, Hammell, Shark, Arrieta, Ramirez, have all been markedly improved from working with Bosio. Last year Travis Wood had a really good year too, but he's struggled this year with some poor luck. I bet he comes back much better next year after some Bosio tinkering.

Name rings a bell. He worked with the Rays in years past.

Jorge Soler with the minor league player of the month award, for hitting

On the month, Soler hit an absurd .378/.473/.811 between three levels,

Javier Baez – and the dominating .300/.344/.655 July at AAA that was on the “honorable mention” list

you could make a pretty strong argument for Kris Bryant there, too, given that he hit .300/.402/.590

wrap your head around this: the Chicago Cubs have three positional players at AAA that have a very good argument for having had the best July of any prospect in baseball. THREE. AT AAA.)

:pimp: :pimp: :pimp:

And Addison Russell has been absolutely tearing Double A apart. :pimp:

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnn

Not to say you're wrong because Bosio is a big factor...but the Orioles are ******* morons when it comes to developing and managing pitchers. They tried to bar him from using the cutter/slider he has because they got it in their head that it leads to injuries. So the kid had his fastball and his sinker and they never worked on developing either, just focused on making sure he wasn't throwing the cutter/slider.

Tonight's lineup

Alcantara CF
Baez 2B
Rizzo 1B
Castro SS

Just a few more months away from adding Bryant, Russell, Soler, and Almora to the mix. :x :pimp:

I like Baez at 2nd, I was hoping to keep Bryant at 3rd but more than likely he'll go to the OF and Russell gets 3rd.

Do you guys think anyone else will get called up this year?
Or do they just wait till next year?

Let these Young Boys Cook. Let"s Go Javier.

Agreed. I think Bryant moves to LF, and Soler/Almora battle for RF.

I "thought" Baez would go to 3B, Russell at SS, and Starlin would go to 2B. Now I guess Russell plays 3B.

As for call ups, I think Soler comes up in September cuz he's already on the 40 man, Bryant is not.

Baez needs to stay at 2B. Just like what Castro said the other day. They understand each other well.

Cubs have made a waiver claim on 23 year old pitcher Jacob Turner. :nerd:

My God if Theo pulls this off.

Top 10 pick in 09, at 18.

He's had moments, but lost a lot also in Florida. Give him to Bosio, who knows what he can get to at 24-25.

And he's a cheap, easy pick up. Theo's 3rd low risk grab in the last month. :pimp:

We don't have dominant arm prospects to match our bats, but he damn sure is building up depth of young arms. And at no cost. :pimp:
