MIddle class/rich people go to church too. Let us not turn this thread into a religion thread.
But they aren't in the same position and obviously have done their due diligence to not be in that position. Yea rather rich or poor you could go out and spend thousand on something foolish like a weekend get away... but it would be foolish to do so if you don't even have a decent meal in the kitchen....or your kids need a tutor.... The same applies here.... To say I rather pay x amount of money to a preacher etc... and pray my son grades improve instead of spending that money on a tutor is irresponsible no matter what kinda spiritual spin you put on it. The notion of imma pray my kid get better and pay tides instead of paying for health care that would provide care/medicine that would help/cure my kid is foolish.
To say it is better or isn't ill advised to save money for your kids college instead of spending it every sunday on something in hopes it will be giving to me is outrageous and irresponsible which is the thinking that got these ppl in the position they are in, in the first place. If you can afford to do both great/sure go for it.... But to put a belief or a want over a truth or need is irresponsible....and again this is the core of the problems.
Its a mindset aka I don't want to loss weight eat healthy because ppl should love me for me...despite for health reasons needing to lose weight... I don't want my kids to get teased/made fun of so I get them gym shoes etc.... they cant afford and basically treat them like living Barbie dolls....instead of aa need of saving money and placing them in a position to get a higher education.
but instead of putting the so call money they don't have into that it could be used for something that can actually improve the current situation they are in.... aka a gym membership...aka a detrition... I promise healthy living regular exercise... a proper diet will assist in the overweight problem moreso then over eating and paying money and praying it goes away...or having church members...preachers cosigning your b.s. and saying its ok god accepts you and loves you for you and if god wants you healthy hed made you that way. If it did why do numbers aka facts not reflect it?
You act as if these ppl have options choices... it is irresponsible thinking to say iuno having a starving child... 5 bucks to your name and saying oh im a better parent for tithing the 5 bucks and praying for food...instead of taking the 5 and providing a hot meal. and using oh its spirituality/faith and its ok is stupid point blank period... and that line of thinking shows in other facets of their lives...placing wants and beliefs over needs and proven truths...
Its ok for me to want to go to saint barts... but it would be a irresponsible for me to chose that when I know I need a place to live and I know my rent is due. If I can afford both great...if not that's a different story... and these ppl are the different story.
If you living hand to mouth and check to check you don't have the luxury.....well shouldn't have the luxury of putting wants ahead of needs... yet with govt programs etc... we allow this and thus these ppl are were they are now never a thick and not quite a thin.
