The Flash (CW Series) thread, season 9

I hope it's not too much too soon
That's what it seems like to me but maybe they're planning to kill a good chunk of ppl next season

I dunno I really liked the size of the cast last season along with supporting characters showing up every few eps. They only killed one guy and another might not show up as regularly yet they seemed to have doubled the cast # for S2

‘The Flash’ Casts Tony Todd as Voice of DC Villain Zoom in Season 2

“The Flash” has tapped “Candyman” star Tony Todd as the voice of DC Comics villain Zoom in season two, Variety has learned exclusively.

Zoom will menace titular hero Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) beginning in episode two, “Flash of Two Worlds.”

“Last year, with the Reverse-Flash, we just modulated Tom Cavanagh’s voice, and this year we wanted to do something a little bit different,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells Variety. “Part of the mystery of the season is who or what is underneath the Zoom outfit, and so we wanted to do something like James Earl Jones as Darth Vader — this iconic voice coming out of this mask. Last year, we thought of the Reverse-Flash as a speed warrior; this year, Zoom is like a speed demon, and no one does demon-voice better than Tony Todd.”

Kreisberg compares Zoom’s appearance to Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man, revealing, “The Zoom outfit is much more organic than the Reverse-Flash suit. In a way, it’s hard to tell if it is a suit or alive… There’s no skin showing, for all you know there’s a robot underneath, or dark energy.”

Unlike last season, which revealed that Cavanagh’s Harrison Wells (or, more accurately, Eobard Thawne) was the Reverse-Flash fairly early on, Kreisberg says the producers intend to draw out the mystery of Zoom “like a horror movie — ‘who’s the killer? Who’s under the mask?'”

As for what’s driving Zoom, Kreisberg teases, “For us, the best villains are the ones who don’t have megalomaniacal ‘I want to rule the world’ motivations. Last year, the Reverse-Flash had a very simple goal which was ‘I just want to go home, and if people need to die or cities need to get wasted for me to get that, so be it.’ And Zoom has a very similar, personal goal this season… simple and easy to understand, and very primal. And just as with Wells last year, Zoom doesn’t care who gets hurt or what gets destroyed in the service of him getting his goal.”

DC Comics readers may have their suspicions about Zoom’s identity, but Kreisberg notes, “We have to service the entire audience, both the fans and the non-fans, and I think we’ve shown up until this point a great deal of respect and reverence for the source material, so that we always feel like we’re fulfilling the comic book fans’ expectations while also not spoon-feeding them stuff directly from the comics. So the story of Zoom and who and what he is… hopefully comic book fans will be happy because we’ve come up with a clever way to spin the tale, but that also makes it exciting for the people who aren’t as familiar with the comics and are just enjoying the show on its own terms.”

Thought it was too much with the speedsters but they changed my mind with adding a menace like Tony Todd to the cast.

Zoom about to be a beast. Even in movies when he aint trying to be Tony Todd is a scary ************.

Plus the whole description of how they'll build up Zoom this next season makes it cooler and sound more compelling. Just let him rack up some bodies, specifically speedsters and I'll be completely sold.

I still can't stand him from his role in The Rock. "Imma gut you like a pig"

About Zoom in S2:

"We wanted another speedster as a villain, but we wanted to do something slightly different. Reverse Flash felt like a warrior, and what we wanted this time was something more akin to a monster. When you finally see Zoom, he looks like a demon, and it’s really scary. It’s more horrific. You should feel like when one of H.R. Giger’s aliens comes in the room. The mask is really amazing. Like with Wells last year, he has a very specific agenda and a very specific and very clean reason for doing what he’s doing. When we open the season, he’s a villain of Earth-Two, and now he has access to Earth-One. Yet again, our team has created their own nemeses for the season. Watching how Zoom enacts his plan is the plot of the first nine episodes."

Jay Garrick

"There’s a little condescension from Jay. Jay is a little bit more world-weary and he’s seen a lot. He’s been The Flash for a while, so he’s a little further along in his career. He’s seen a lot of darkness, and it’s jaded him a little bit. He thinks Barry can be a bit naïve about the way the world works. One of Barry’s greatest gifts — and truly it’s one of Grant’s greatest gifts, too — is he’s got such an infectious energy and such a purity of heart that he makes you want to be a better person. As much as Barry learns from Jay about being The Flash, Jay learns just as much about being a good person from Barry."

 I aint wanna say anything.

Certain comic heroes will never translate well. The Hawkman/girl headpiece looks dumb. Reminds me of how silly Owlman looked in Watchmen.

i kinda wanted to see the oversized wings on their backs, but after looking at that.... nevermind....

That pic got me feeling like they slightly ****** up on the costume and picked the wrong guy to be Jay Garrick.

Dude should have a more commanding imposing presence. He looks like a scrawny guy in a leather jacket with a noodle strainer that was too big for his small head.

Hope it looks better in action.
