Better career if never injured: TMac, Penny or Grant Hill

my buddy and I were having a discussion as to who would've had a more promising career out of the three without being plagued by injuries. These dudes have always intrigued because of how similar their games were, how similar they were in size, how they redefined the PG/SG/SF positions, and the fact that neither of them won a chip.

wanted to know what you fellas thought. I suspect the peak years of the three are 97-00 for Grant, 94-97 for Penny, 00-05 for TMac

hill
love to tmac, dont think he really gave a hunna percent all the time

healthy hill and tmac on the same squad :smh:
that orlando curse

Hill could have been a top 10-15 player ever. He was that good.

Dem ankles :smh:

People are sort of ignoring the fact that Hill came into the league when he was 22 because of how long he played at duke, nba players peak at 27, star decling at 30 so we still got yers 24,25, 26, 27, without much injury, so this idea that we have NO idea what Grant was like in his prime is sort of overblown.

Penny is a much better example because we missed 25, 26, 27, were all effected by injury so that is a bigger question mark, and his 24.6 per at 24 makes you belive that there were better seasons ahead.

T-Mac, had better seasons at a younger age than Grant and Penny, and back injuries started to effect him through his prime years 25,26,27, so conceivably he could have had even BETTER seasons.

The answer is Tracy.

The idea that its "grant hill" I think doesn't really make sense unless you just ignore the historical peaks of NBA players.

In terms of skill, we saw Tracy's best. But he was a great, great player. Obviously a tremendous scorer but also an excellent passer and playmaker.

The only thing he could have done to change his legacy is to win a championship in Houston. Which he and Yao certainly could have done had they ever been healthy together.

people knock tmac's lack of success in the playoffs, but if i recall grant's wasnt getting out the first round in detroit.

REALLY wish Mac was healthy in '09.

Would've been a MONSTER series against the Lakers. MONSTER series.

Grant, then Tmac, then Penny

I feel we got the most robbed not seeing Penny at his prime and healthy. We never got to see him at his very best.

I feel we got to see Tmac and Grant at theirs. No matter how short it was

tracy mcgrady...dude was going toe to toe with kobe as the best single player in the league from 2002 to 2005. arguably dude was better just on a WAY worst team. dag I miss those arguments in the class and lunch rooms #highschool

Only thing that skews my thought on that OKB is that Hill was putting up good numbers relative to his age only just a few years ago. He very well could have been statiscally at his peak during his early 30's had he never been injuried.

Anyway...This discussion is 'bout over. Time for McGrady lovefest.

If you're talking about entire basketball career, including college, its Grant Hill.

If you're strictly referring to NBA career its Tracy McGrady. People forget that Tmac was in the "best player in the league" discussion at one point.

TMAC... Got the easiest 30 points a game I have ever witnessed.  Just looked so effortless and smooth

In regards to Hill potentially being a top 10-15 player ever, I think TMAC could have done the same had he sustained his early 2000's play.

Grant Hill is THE most overrated player on NT. Dude was a constant out in the first round year after year when he was "the man" but people act like he was some kind of God.

If any of these players are the most overrated on NT, it's T-Mac.

T-MAC hands down

Like ole boy said above it was him and Kobe being compared as to who was the best player in the NBA at one point.

Dude just balled so effortlessly. If not for injuries no one could guard him

The only thing I didnt like about em was that he was a *****

Always crying in interviews and throwing his own teamates under the bus
