Been to Atlanta, Miami, Raleigh, Dallas and Houston.
Atlanta is cool because it's pretty laid back, but the job outlook isn't so great. Especially for people in finance. They have some great looking women though. On the other hand, I did see plenty of cross-dressers. What's that about?
Miami is all glitz and glamour, but the economy isn't so great either and Idk what people would do for work if they're not educated. And the ones that do have higher education with white collar jobs aren't make a lot of money. I guess it's the whole cost of living ratio there. Women are good there too, but it's expected with the weather.
Raleigh wasn't my cup of tea. You need a car to get around and the job outlook wasn't so great.
Dallas was a great city. Good economy and the cost of living with salary seems to be great. Although the city doesn't seem to be spread out and things close way too early for me.
Houston is the same as Dallas, although I think the salaries are a bit higher (not too sure). The night life is better here though. Side note: What's up with all the fat people in Houston? Seems to be the obese capitol of America
SF was the best out of all the cities I went to. Cost of living to salary ratio is good, good job economy, plenty of space, great transit system and the overall vibe is very positive. The people living in SF seem to love living there as well. I didn't get that sentiment from most cities I've been to.

Not my cup of tea if I'm paying that much it better be to a mortgage company. I'm not a city guy so ill take my 3 bedroom house with 2 car garage and 1200 dollar house payment at 25 any day of the week.

IDK how much you're getting paid, but if you had a salary of $250k a year--You'd be more than willing to drop $2700/month for rent.

I get it's just a reference for arguments sake, but lol at Applebees being living better or working easier. Restaurant biz ain't easy, and 40k you're more than likely management. Having lived in one of those low wage areas, trust the work is just as hard. Work is work fam.

Basically. Its all preference and situational. Your job is in the city and paying 2700 a month in rent works for you? Cool. Youre saving on other expenses being within walking distance, and location is key. Who doesnt want to live in NYC ?
You own a landscaping company serving suburban families and have a large family of your own? Need a place to store your trucks and equipment etc? Cop a house with a garage and a lawn and a white picket fence.

And that's what's happening in areas like that.
Usually people who live in that area mostly work for Goldman Sachs or Citigroup and are investment bankers. They can afford it.

I would say live in queens if you're just starting out in NY and need a place to live near the city. It's really close to manhattan, and has a lot of nice safe neighborhoods to live in too that arent as costly. Being a native of queens born and raised, I couldn't live in the busier areas of manhattan, it's just too hectic around there for me. I'd need some spacious and quiet streets around me.
Once I start making real money, I definitely want a house around Nassau or Lawerence NY. The homes there are huge and have lots of land, and its only a 20 minute drive away from the city.

brooklyn and queens is good. brooklyn gets the edge in terms of public transportation. the rents nowadays are very similar so it all boils down to your personal preference. food spots in queens IMO is better.

I also love queens because of its diversity, there's a general populous here that isn't as homogenous as other states or boroughs may have.

I lived in La for 18 months. i was born in colombia but the ny/nj area has been home for the past 18 years. i reside in bedstuy, brooklyn and have been doing so since 2007 moved to La in 2012 and came back to bed stuy this past october. I had a bad experience in La just because its so different couldnt get used to it.
-getting around was hard, driving everywhere to me suck couldnt get used to it.
-different energy, everything closes early.
-i noticed a lot of racial tension.(even at work) my boys tell me that out there its just how it is. prison culture has a lot to do with it.
-couldnt walk through some places , ese's "hitting me up" was really annoying. (been shaving my head since the age of 21) in the east coast it was never a problem if anything it helped with the yambs situation.
-too many drugs out there saw some really sketch situations at work but maybe because it was hollywood.( the blvd its crazy)
-my first day at work customers that i spoke to were telling me to be careful cause people "are fake out here" i was shocked when they told me that. i guess the whole hollywood scene ,culture influences people a lot.
-it felt really suburban even downtown felt slow (it was beautiful tough)
-people stayed hating on NY when i was there poeple at work kept talking a lot of ish even though they had never been there.
but i did meet some cool people ate some banging mexican food enjoyed great weather nice beaches amazing bud . but i had to get back on my hustle so i had to come back to NYC(i was also super homesick) . NYC just has higher energy i like the fact that i could move around the city fast without having a car.i love the diversity. QC has a large jewish population from what I hear, but I think thats because of the large jewish community thats located very near to the campus. A lot of the kids tend to prefer studying locally and choose to go there. I believe CCNY on the other hand is one of the most diverse colleges in the country.

Baruch has a lot of asian students, and from what I can gather from your sn, you're probably asian too. I've been to a few baruch frat parties, and literally everyone there was of asian origin

Agreed, MorningSide is very nice! Broinlaws firehouse is located there and them dudes be chillin, neighborhood is something out of the movies type friendly...lol
I also like Inwood...but that might be too far north for most in here
