NIKE AIR MAG 2015

Looks like that link also confirms it's not an Air Mag, just Nike Mag.

I'm also underwhelmed by the video, but it's cool nonetheless.

And once again. We're all Magless **** Nike. They could've at least released 2,015 pair for $375 each (even if they were pairs that didn't self lace) and raffled them with their raffling system so that some people who can't afford $2500 on a pair of shoes could get their hands on a pair and auctioned off the self lacing pairs.

sneakerheads and star wars nerds are the same thing, getting so worked up about something thats made for fun (or in this case a good cause), a contest to show how unimpressed you are with something while you sit online and do nothing but preach about being awesome for buying stuff

I have to assume there's a finished model out there somewhere or at least a shoe more progressed than this one.

Think they just shown this off for the sake of admiring the day

Huge BTTF fan and wanted the 2011s when they came out but was still in HS.

That said...

The most I've ever spent on a pair of shoes is $400, and I've owned Yeezy 1s and 2s, every Supreme dunk and blazer, tiffanys, and all the jordans I care to own.
I've been saving up for the past year to buy myself the car I want and I'll be damned if I spend that money on some shoes.
In my opinion, a 2006 BMW 330i 6spd will give me more enjoyment and use than any pair of shoes could, but to each their own.

Yes, I'm a tad salty that I won't be able to own these  In all seriousness, glad the money is going to such a great cause. Have numerous relatives with Parkinson's.

Availability

The 2015 Nike Mag is a limited edition release. It will only be available via auction, with all proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The specific details on the auctions will be posted to Nike News and via Twitter @Nike in spring 2016.
Good to see I'll never have a pair

that sound of that lacing

"But this is just the first iteration"

Improvements will be made

I wish Nike went about this diff man. I get that they're raising money for a good cause, but most people aren't going to be able to afford these. I wish they would just make a donation to MJF foundation and do some type of release to the public.

They could have done it just like the movie if they wanted to. Hell I think if I had their money I COULD do it myself.
Probably. If Nike created a 1:1, best believe it would be the best auto lacing sneaker ever created.

However, Nike is a corporation. They are all about ROI. The only way they get a pass with producing a couple thousand auto lace sneakers is ONLY by donating the proceeds to charity. Otherwise, how else can they justify the time and money spent only to recoup about 1.5 million ($1000 x 1500 models, assuming). That doesn't even pay for Tinker's salary+bonuses lol.

I don't know why people would think the lacing would be more elaborate. That would be really hard to make in a shoe. The movie version was a prop that done with guys pulling strings. This one is pretty damn amazing if you think about it. Now how long before adidas takes this and puts it on a boost and calls it their own.

This is the excerpt I found most interesting in the press release.

"Nike continues to test this technology across multiple sports, incorporating feedback into future game-changing footwear with unprecedented performance features that have the potential to impact athletes around the world."

I'm sure it's a long way away from happening because I imagine it making shoes extremely heavy, but still awesome to think about. Now I just gotta get my second interview there so I can help them out haha.

Open question to those who are saying that the video is awesome, (in reference to the power lace vid) what is so awesome about it? Sounded like a dead bit drill and maybe compressed 1 mm.

easily pleased eh?
right lol. I could barely see anything from that angle, and it just sounded like a drill.

I'm not sure what demand there would actually be by Spring 2016. A. You ain't wearing high tops like that B. You have no correlation to the movies, at least I think so. Pretty disappointing.
