Transplants...Who do you root for?

You root for a team you like on how they play. Not for a team YOU HAVE to root for because you live in that location or because it's your hometown.

Agree, but it's funny as hell to me when someone likes for example:

Knicks
White Sox
Chargers
Maryland bball
Texas fball

like did you put teams in a hat and pick?

(trying to figure out if that might actually be someone's teams)

if this was the case there would be a bunch of teams with 0 fans

Born outside of LA and only local teams I like are the Lakers and Ducks. Been a Cowboys and Red Sox fan since I was like 5-6, which both teams get a lot of coverage over here so it's not like I go a whole season without even catching their games on TV or in person.

raised in ENG for 6 years..
grew up close enough to be a gunners fan

moved 15 minutes outside of STL..
Root for the bears. sox. cubs. bulls. fire. blackhawks.
will never root for a STL team.

my pops is from the south suburbs of the CHI
so rooting for STL is unquestionable

"People says immigrants should like the US soccer team because they live here and the US has given them a better life but they still root for their mother country."

That has to be one of the most arrogant/ridiculous things I've heard regarding choosing a team.

Originally from NYC but have lived in LA most my life.

My teams are the lakers, mets, 49ers, and la kings.

My uncle took me to a bunch of jets games when I was a kid and to this day their the closest thing to a 1b I have sports wise. The dodgers are cool too and I pull for them except when they play the mets.

NY wise, I can't stand the giants and Yankees, and have no real feelings good or bad towards the Knicks and rangers.

LA wise, I hope the clippers one day get contracted from the league but all the other local teams are cool.

This is my favorite fan!

Lakers Cowboys Redsox

And I'm always a little skeptical of those whose #1 team is a place they have no ties to. They're usually front-runners or bandwagoners in most cases (see above)

moved to the bay area from boston a little under a year ago. still obviously root for my boston teams...that will never change. the only bay area team i'll even remotely root for to win a game is the sharks but i wouldn't consider myself a fan of them. and when the bruins are in town, the sharks can go **** themselves along with the A's, Giants, Raiders, Niners, and entire NBA as well

When the Pats eventually come to Oakland, would you be afraid to wear your stuff there?

Root for USC Football and Syracuse Basketball

Your shtick is so tired. And the fact that you bandwagon too but still turn your nose up at others is mind-boggling.

But me personally, I grew up on the Lakers, Angels, and Rams HARDCORE.

Went to a few Kings games here and there, then the Ducks and Kings both when the Ducks formed.

Few random UCLA and USC games here and there, also, both football and basketball. Went to a UCLA volleyball game once because I got hooked up with tickets.

Then I moved out of CA, went to TN at the same time the Titans did. Made some friends, became a Titans fan.

Moved to OH, and moved out before the dust could settle on my stuff. Sorry, Famous, Ohio sucked.

Went to school in KY, went to UK for a couple semesters, didn't graduate from there, but did graduate in KY. Became a UK fan.

Moved to WV. That state also sucked. Sorry... ummm... wait, we don't have any prominent WV or Marshall fans on here, do we? Just KLJ... kinda? Because that state sucks, too.

So as a transplanted fan, who do I root for?

DIE HARD fan of the Lakers & Angels. I don't give a flying crap about any other MLB or NBA teams.

Football? I like the Titans... but I still like the Rams, especially now that I live in IL, an hour and a half away. But I also like the Chargers, being the only SoCal team. Who do I passionately root for? No one, apparently, because if I did, then one team would stand out for me, like the Lakers and Angels.

College? I have ties to UK, UCLA, and USC. Who do I passionately root for? No one, apparently, because if I did, then one team would stand out for me, like the Lakers and Angels.

Hockey? I mean, I'm glad both the Kings and Ducks have recent titles (well, fairly recent for the Ducks), but I'm not going to disrespect the die hard Kings and Ducks fans by 'owning' those titles or claiming those teams. I'm happy a SoCal team won, but it's not 'my' team. Who's my hockey team? None, because if there was one, then one team would stand out for me, like the Lakers and Angels.

You sound really butt hurt for some reason.

I'm sorry you chose to root for a team you have no connection to because they were winning, but I wasn't pointing the finger at you personally, I swear.

That's just your own fan insecurities getting you down.

It's always funny to see those Niner fans who are not from or have any connection to the Bay explain why they like the team!

Born and raised in Arizona

Never rooted for the Cards, and fell in love with the Titans after the Superbowl loss to the Rams. Been with them ever since.

I do root for the Suns and Dbacks though

Classic bandwagon AZ fan. Everyone has always liked the Suns and D-Backs because they've been successful. Until about 5 years ago (Super Bowl appearance) Cowboys stickers were all over cars, now you can't drive anywhere without seeing a Cardinals license plate because we're having success. :smh:

If you move to a state and plan on living there for awhile, you should have respect for their teams. if you move somewhere and actively root against that cities team, you're a bum - plenty of those in AZ unfortunately.

Don't confuse butthurt for amazement. As in amazed that you think you're a better fan for somebody for any reason (which is stupid). And that you crap on
others for something you do as well.

Pot calling the kettle black, pretzel calling the chip salty, etc., etc.
