WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - XMEN97 release 3/20

Heard someone mention Reese Witherspoon for Carol and i don't think that's a bad idea

she'll be 42 by the time the movie comes out though :smh:

Reese Witherspoon?

If this was ten years ago, maybe.. And even then I'm not convinced. I've never seen her act outside of romantic comedies.. I think that's all she's ever done.

She supposedly kills it in Inherent Vice and Wild this year..

I think she has a Golden Globe nom for the last joint

After reading Captain Marvel volume 1, I can no longer picture Emily Blunt as Danvers. I think we need a younger, more fiery spirited sorta actress to fit the independent, I don't know my place in the world yet vibe.

Emily Blunt is 31. Also Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel started in Vol. 7

What Capt. Marvel did you read that Emily Blunt couldnt work the role? It's hard to tell exact comic book ages but Carol aint much younger than Emily.

Eh, I dunno about reese. Isn't she short? Give her a character that has a pointy chin.

Comics wise Carol is probably the same age or older than Emily Blunt is now  Caro was in the Air Force for a good bit before she got super powers. Seasoned as a pilot. Not a rookie by any means. You really can't go much younger.

Unless you guys just feel Emily seems older than she is I don't see why she can't do it.
^^Yup and sometimes when I'm talking to a Brit, I'll accidentally speak in my terrible fake British accent out of nowhere
 That's slightly offensive but in a funny way.

I'm mostly imagining my horrible British accent suddenly popping up in a convo with the Brits I know. They'd all think I was doing a comedy bit.

Anyway, Emily playing a bit coy about the topic. Might as well not say much more until Marvel starts reaching out to ppl and her which I can't see why they wouldn't.

Although I do wonder if Marvel may still want to use the other chick that was still being considered for Jessica Jones, I forget her name, I think it was Palmer? They may still want to use her for something.

Cap Marvel vol 1 Higher Further Faster More

She comes off as seasoned but still pretty young, like any twenty yr something who doesn't know their place in the world yet

Zik, someone who starts young at the air force can still be pretty seasoned at 25

Oh you mean vol. 1 tpb. That always confused me. Again there is no difference visu ally between a 25 year old and a 30 year old who takes care of themself. And I am pretty sure she is at least 28. There is like a 3 year difference at most. Cpt marvel is likely older than Emily Blunt.

If you take into consideration everyone else has aged 10-15 years since avengers and x-men started she'd prolly be closer to 35. A child couldn't display the gravitas needed in Cpt. Marvel.

I should probably correct my initial statement.

Actresses can play younger than their stated age all the time so it's not absolutely mandatory that the actress be a younger person. I mean, look at Garfield and Emma Stone, both playing ten years younger than what they really are.

It's not really about physical appearance , just think Emily overall carries herself too mature

From the comic I read, Carol comes off as hot headed, headstrong, independent, mature in some ways in terms of being a leader but also young despite her maturity. Like a hotshot twenty something executive who knows the business but outside of it, he still has some growing up to do.

Just my opinion.

Not believably imo unless you're going the angle of she was a child prodigy and graduated college or started college at 14.

Well while I somewhat agree, the current Captain Marvel book isn't even selling well.

Rumors are with the way things are going, the writer Kelly Sue, won't be penning stories for the next relaunch of the title and somebody else wil shape the character. That can happen as early as end of this year or next year. So that's 2015, hopefully Captain Marvel is cast by then (maybe she cameos in a post credit scene of something) so then Marvel can work close enough with the movie guys like they've been doing to shape the character so they can mirror each other with the actress in mind.

Do you not understand actors are paid to pretend they are someone else?

Um. Sure?

No you're right. I don't understand that actors are paid to be other people.

Total news to me.

They'd probably pull a Matrix/Galactus explanation about his appearance

I'm appearing to you as an image you're familiar with or your mind can't comprehend the true face of the creator so blah blah this is what you see.
