WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - XMEN97 release 3/20

I didn't know that Jessica Jones was coming after Daredevil. I thought she was gonna be the last one before the Defenders.

Youtubed Claudia Kim just cuz I'm bored. She seems hotter here than she does in pictures. I approve. I'm surprised by her accent, it's like she grew up over here.

I like that the rumored IM3/GOTG thing didn't happen. It was cool in theory but after seeing the film i think everything worked out just how it should of as far as our introduction to the characters

Personally i feel like spoilers don't really 'spoil' much for these types of films.. At least not to the core group who are really into the characters outside of their cinematic interpretations.

The winter solider is a prime example.. everyone knew it was bucky but the reveal still got a lot of reaction

They weren't keeping that a secret cuz everyone already knew.
well... okay

Just saying going into films knowing certain plot details doesn't have any impact on the experience if it's executed properly

James Gunn recently spoke out against Hollywood's recent love affair with shared universes

CARTS BEFORE HORSES & HOLLYWOOD'S NEW LOVE OF SHARED UNIVERSES
Listen, I love big *** shared universes in movies, as well as huge franchises. But I'm a little worried about the numerous shared universes being planned by the studios, without having a strong base film to grow from - or in some cases, NO base film to grow from. Star Wars had the original Star Wars, the Marvel Universe had the original Iron Man, the Dark Knight series had Batman Begins, even movies like Transformers and Twilight - these were movies audiences loved, and the audiences demanded more from these characters. But these days studios are trying to grow trees without a strong seed. Execs and producers and sometimes even directors are focused on the big picture, without perfecting the task directly in front of them - making a great movie. And studios are trying to grow franchises from non-existent films or middling successes. It's like they aren't taking audiences into account at all anymore.
I know George Lucas, Kevin Feige, John Favreau, etc, had ideas where their films would potentially lead in the face of success. But I don't think it ever got in the way of making that first movie count as if it was the last, of making it something wonderful that people would love whether it led to other films or not.
In short, I think this new business model is flawed. I think filmmakers and studios should be prepared for the big picture, but never, ever let it get in the way of making a single great film. Be a little more experimental and see what works as opposed to trying to force success. And mostly, remember that we as an industry exist to serve the audiences, to communicate with them - they have a voice in what we create as well. We are not here to dictate what they want to see, mostly because that's simply not possible.

Basically echoing what a lot of Marvel fans have to be thinking and throwing a bit of shade at every studio not named Marvel haha.

Sony is probably most guilty of what he's talking about.

lol. Most of these studios will fail anyway. Then they'll see Marvel aint winning simply because all these movies are in the same universe.

I'm sorry but what is happening ?

They pretty much blew up the F4 cast. The three resembles the 3 white cats members, one of them mentions Trang doing the sequel when the F4 director of the reboot and announced sequel is Trank. Then the guy called the 4th guy Mike saying "he thinks it is about Johnny" when it is Michael B Jordan that will be playing Johnny Storm.

But how is it throwing shade at F4
Don't think they're throwing shade on F4. It's just that it's set in LA so it's just a nod at the new cast meeting up somewhere but I guess you could interpret it more than one way if you think the explosions are apart of it  :smh:

I read the book like last week and didn't think twice about the opening pgs. Felt it was just setting up what the gangs are doing.

Well, unfortunately for those Nova fans, James Gunn posted the following on Facebook over the weekend: "I don't want Nova right now because I think Quill being the only earthling is important. That serves the entire moviegoing audience and not just the handful of Nova fans. Sorry if that upsets you.I have nothing against Nova in future movies, but it doesn't serve the movie right this moment. "

I'd love to see Nova. Why would that take away from Starlord tho? I really thought we'd see him in the first when the corps showed up. Even as a cameo it'd be cool if he was just there.

Cuz some writers and directors aren't good enough to change their narratives or create new ones where the movie would still work out storytelling wise.

Gunn wants to depict Quill has the only Earthling in his GotG movies so he can be the audiences reference character. So even if you relate to other members he's still the human one. From there I'm sure he's plotted out character beats that connect to the fact that Quill is a half human out in space constantly around aliens.

IMO that has kind of already worn thin by the fact that Quill was basically abducted when he was a kid and has been in space for 20 years. If anything he's an alien to how Earth is now given he was last there in the 80s.

Creatively, I don't see why a writer/director couldn't develop a Quill as Han Solo and Nova as Luke Skywalker dynamic (even though I know technically neither Luke or Han were from Earth but there's comparison that Han was pretty experienced in space while Luke was the noob) so this seems not to be a case of ability but about what those in charge want to do with the stories they're telling.
