WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - XMEN97 release 3/20

Since the Comic Book thread stays dead here's a 10 page summary of Hickman's Avengers run.

Run has been trash :smh:

Buggin

You can do silly tumblr simplified summaries to any comic story from the classics to you personal favs.

Not at all, as that tumblr post has nothing to do with what I said.

Well what I said stands either way.

You buggin.

There's I don't care for it, I don't like it, I really didn't like it, and this is pure trash.

If Hickman's Avengers run is trash then he hasn't ever done good comics for Marvel and that's false just looking at his rise to prominence.

Haven't read any of his other work so I couldn't say. His avengers run is trash though regardless.

Buggin

If that's what you call not agreeing with you then sure. 8)

Peter Parker was only a socially awkward herb for like 10 issues after he became Spider-Man, and then he became the guy that Garfield portrayed perfectly.

Tobey Maguire wasn't cut out for post-confidence Peter Parker
Tobey was better Peter because of the writing and the fact that he looked a lot more like a loser than Andrew.

It was hard to believe a tall, well dressed and handsome dude was really some lame *** nerd

Tobey's Peter really had a terrible life

The whole point of Peter is that he WAS a handsome, attractive dude but it was buried by timidity and lack of confidence. Peter Parker has had a ridiculous amount of girlfriends. Spider-Man is what allowed him to come out of his shell. Dude wasn't Tobey Maguire his whole life

Pretty much. Like this was him back in the day

Physically, there's really nothing wrong with him at all there. Not dressed worse than anyone else, not physically unfit, he's mostly a "nerd" because he wears glasses and actually does well in school. Then throw in the spider powers and you have him not only bulking up from the bite, but also starting to take part in a lot of physical activity on a daily basis. There's no surprise that he's then knocking down women like Mary Jane and Black Cat.

It just about balance.

Garfield had it as Spidey but Maguire was a vastly better Peter.

I don't even know what Holland sounds like so it'll be a reveal I'm looking forward to.

Holland has an English accent so him playing a New York teen will be enjoyable.

As for Maguire's Peter Parker, he was able to convey the more socially awkward aspect of Peter. Like it was easy to feel sorry for him. I hate that interpretation of Peter.
Well so does Garfield, so it should be enjoyable.

Nothing wrong with a socially awkward Pete or one you can feel sorry for. That's pretty inherent to the character from the get go.
If Maguire played nerdy Pete and Garfield was cool Pete, I feel Holland will probably end up somewhere in between
Eh, I'm not even ready to think Holland is as good an actor as Andrew or let alone Tobey yet.

Can't really say his portray will fall in-between the two.

That's just my opinion of your opinion since you're calling it trash.

Yeah, these are professional actors. They can pull off practically any accent they choose to. Except for McCoughnahey...I think he will forever have the Texas Twang lol.

I was shook when I found out Morgan from The Walking Dead was British.

Some actors suck at accents though. It's been discussed how scarlett johansson trying a Russian accent would probably not go well. Seems like the English / British ones usually do American accents well.

It's remarkable how many British people can pull off American accents flawlessly. They spoil us.

Some of them even sound better in their American accents than in their native accents. ej. Alice Eve

The only one I can think of that can't pull it off quite right is Emma Watson. She's just not quite there.

repped

I've literally never read a pre-powers spider-man comic  most of my knowledge is from like the middle of McFarland's run and Sporadic periods afterwards

While we're on the topic I was just listening to an fanbros podcast where Just Blaze said "I always just wanted Peter to be happy, take a break and just beat down MJ from the back for a couple issues  Have him diggin out Black Cat and MJ walks in & just says 'Hey, I'm wit it!' "

If Spidey was real you gotta imagine some **** like that really popping off

Neither is Keira Knightley. She wasn't convincing in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

They showed a quick glimpse of Civil War footage in a video package at D23 today.

Security is supposedly insanely tight for the press too

Damn looking at that pic just solidifies my belief that Garfield was perfect as Peter :smh:

Agreed. Except for the socially awkward part. When I think of people who's socially awkward, I think about damn near all of Michael Cera's characters. He was just a little timid like you said.

And the original spiderman became a front for ayn rand objevtivism.

You need to get the essance of the character worrying about details fro the original spiderman run seems unnecessary.
